Mediterranean cuisine is said to be identified with a trinity of basic ingredients: olive, wheat and grape, yielding oil, bread and wine respectively. Two of these key ingredients came into play during a lunch with my family at The Cafe Mediterranean while we were on our way to a movie screening at the Powerplant Mall. (I was with my hubby and kids so wine was not ordered, hehehe!)

As my friends would say, this branch's manager is truly hands-on. To be fair, this branch did not disappoint. Our dining experience started with complimentary chips (crispy thin tortilla wraps) which were not too starchy nor overcooked. They were yummy, best with their garlic mayo sauce which wasn't overbearing also.I had the hummus bowl with lamb. The lamb was cooked at perfect medium to medium well, bringing out the lamb aroma to the dish. It was tender and soft throughout. Paired with their heated tortilla wrap, the hummus was also genuine. You'd know that it's not made out of powder ingredients because of the blend of chickpeas and mediterranean flavors that tasted great.Ambiance and service were amazing.

Hummus Bowls of Cafe MediterraneanAll proceeds of the Hummus Bowls go to Syrians displaced by the Syrian war. The donations are coursed through the UNHCR ( The UN Refugee Agency).Hummus simply means chickpea or garbanzo in Arabic. Healthy and yummy, hummus contains lots of protein, fiber, B vitamins, and dietary minerals. They have 8 Hummus Bowls to choose from:With cherry tomatoes cooked with garlic & extra virgin olive oilWith roasted red bell peppers, black olives and feta cheeseWith roasted broccoli and cauliflower - a personal vegan favorite! With grilled eggplant and tomato sauceWith mushroom and caramelized onions - really tasty combination! With grilled chickenWith grilled beefWith grilled lamb - I love lamb! Favorite!
