Mediterranean cuisine is said to be identified with a trinity of basic ingredients: olive, wheat and grape, yielding oil, bread and wine respectively. Two of these key ingredients came into play during a lunch with my family at The Cafe Mediterranean while we were on our way to a movie screening at the Powerplant Mall. (I was with my hubby and kids so wine was not ordered, hehehe!)

As my friends would say, this branch's manager is truly hands-on. To be fair, this branch did not disappoint. Our dining experience started with complimentary chips (crispy thin tortilla wraps) which were not too starchy nor overcooked. They were yummy, best with their garlic mayo sauce which wasn't overbearing also.I had the hummus bowl with lamb. The lamb was cooked at perfect medium to medium well, bringing out the lamb aroma to the dish. It was tender and soft throughout. Paired with their heated tortilla wrap, the hummus was also genuine. You'd know that it's not made out of powder ingredients because of the blend of chickpeas and mediterranean flavors that tasted great.Ambiance and service were amazing.

Hummus Bowls of Cafe MediterraneanAll proceeds of the Hummus Bowls go to Syrians displaced by the Syrian war. The donations are coursed through the UNHCR ( The UN Refugee Agency).Hummus simply means chickpea or garbanzo in Arabic. Healthy and yummy, hummus contains lots of protein, fiber, B vitamins, and dietary minerals. They have 8 Hummus Bowls to choose from:With cherry tomatoes cooked with garlic & extra virgin olive oilWith roasted red bell peppers, black olives and feta cheeseWith roasted broccoli and cauliflower - a personal vegan favorite! With grilled eggplant and tomato sauceWith mushroom and caramelized onions - really tasty combination! With grilled chickenWith grilled beefWith grilled lamb - I love lamb! Favorite!

During our stay, we were given attention and staff were easy to work with. Ambiance is cozy.We found out that Hummus is also a meal. Hummus (chickpea/garbanzo in Arabic) is not merely an appetizer in Eastern Mediterranean but is ordered as a main dish, and served in large bowls with a variety of tasty toppings, which hungry diners scoop up with either pita or raw onion wedges. Hummus contains protein, fibre, the B vitamins, and some essential dietary minerals like manganese, perfectly suited to today’s healthier eating styles.First of all, I like how smooth their Hummus is. It was just easy to eat (eating it like a meal). Among the Hummus bowls we tried, probably those that stood out for me were the Grilled Chicken (has that smokey flavor I love). The Hummus Bowls with Grilled Eggplant and the one with Mushrooms and Caramelized Onions were flavorful as well. I also like the one with Cauliflowers. The grilled lamb and grilled beef were hard to distinguish, the looks and the taste were similar. All proceeds on their Hummus Bowls menu go to Syrians displaced by the Syrian war. The donations of The Cafe Meditteranean are coursed through the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency). UNIQLO and The Café Mediterranean collaborate with organizations such as UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, to generate support and donations from customers which can significantly help in bringing awareness about programs to benefit Syrian refugees.

the hummus is good ambiancethumbs upfood tastehummus pita and lassi 😊servicesad part i have a table and made my order, then later there came a foreigner, he was seated n the table beside me, he made his order, then after a few minutes his order came out first than mine, given the fact we have the same order of food, i have an additional order of lassi mango. lesson whats the difference from two paying costumers? why cant you provide the same service to your fellow filipino. most of resto are like this.please abolish that mentality, special treatment on foreigner than you fellow countrymen. both of us are paying costumer. it totally ruined my evening.tissue and water. hayyy is all i can say. i do pay the same service fee. which is 10 percent of the food i purchased. will come back here? - never on other branch -maybe

the flavours of the sun glistens on CafeMed’s menu and their most popular offerings are their hummus bowls!creamy, luscious and velvety smooth hummus that’s just pristine and melts in the mouth. every 4 months they glam up the menu and for a good cause, all proceeds go to the Syrians displaced by the Sirian war and the donations are coursed through UNHCR - now that’s a great way to give back and show some love. during the food tasting, we were served 8 gorgeously prep’d hummus bowls, warm pita bread and 2 sauces (creamy hot sauce and garlic white sauce- the white sauce is to die for, i liked that condiment ceramic clean). the price ranges from 275 to 435, but i tell you it’s sooo worth every mouthful. i can correlate the texture of their hummus to smooth peanut butter, not a lump was discerned and the flavour is divine! we were told that some diners asked for the basic ingredients and some even tried to copy it but failed, i guess because they put so much love, thought and effort in it and that’s what makes it unique only to cafe med. amongst the 8 bowls, my top1 was the roasted cauliflower and broccoli. the char it imparted to the creamy hummus racked my brains and left me in awe as to how simple yet extremely remarkable this combination was for my palate. then for my 2nd best bet was the roasted bell pepper, olives and feta cheese. the salty, tarty and nummy lingers so right w/ the hummus. it gave it that umph it needed to elevate the taste, amazing.im inclined to get the hummus w/ the veg accompaniments rather than the meat offerings prolly because it worked well together as some of the meats werent as flavorful as the veg ones. if in any case hummus aint your thing but still crave for the pita bread, try it w/ the white garlic sauce- it’s one sure fire hit that may leave you thinking of leaving the resto w/ a condiment bottle stashed in your bag, haha.

As it is, I enjoy eating Hummus (Arabic for garbanzo/chickpea) with grilled Pita bread. I normally ask for additional olive oil splashed on my Hummus. And I like it even more when Hummus is topped with Grilled Eggplant. That’s why my enjoyment was doubled when we were served eight choices with the Hummus (including my favorite, Grilled Eggplant).Next to Grilled Eggplant, I liked the Roasted Broccoli and Cauliflower and the Cherry Tomatoes. The Grilled Chicken and the Grilled Lamb came in next. Then, the Grilled Bell Peppers and Grilled Beef came in last.Honestly, I didn’t much appreciate the last two. It’s not as if they were bad, not at all. It’s just that the taste of the bell peppers were too strong for me and the beef, well, I expected it to be tender.By the way, all proceeds of the Hummus Bowls project go to the Syrians displaced by the Syrian War and that all donations are coursed through the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency).

My dad always tells me a story about Mediterranean food. He was working there for 20 years and he’s been eating those kind of food. I get to try their shawarma and I’m really hooked with the taste and smell. Their Hummus Bowls (specifically): Yes, that’s right, in Israel, Egypt and much of the Eastern Mediterranean, hummus is not merely an appetizer but is ordered as a main dish, and served in large bowls with a variety of tasty toppings, which hungry diners scoop up with either pita or raw onion wedges.

One of our favorite restaurants. Order the chicken kebab with buttered rice. Worth the calories! The chicken portion is huge, you can share for 2. Or order extra rice. The garlic sauce with a touch of hot chili is my favorite! It is my ultimate fave. It has a touch of saltiness which sets it apart from others where it tends to be sweet. This can be my meal already with buttered rice.

This restaurant serves authentic Meditteranean Cuisine! First time to try hummus and it did not disappoint. These hummus bowls are creamy and so delicious! The seasoning was perfect and the taste is wonderful. I actually did not expect that I would love it! Each hummus bowl is served with 2 (two) pieces of pita bread. We also try one of their dessert, Baklava — Mediterranean pastry with layers of filo and pistachois and walnuts.
