As a bearer of the name that traces its origin to the Ilocandia, Farinas specializes in its signature product, as mentioned in its name: the Ilocos empanada. The basics include grated green papaya admixed with longganisa meat and fresh egg, altogether encased in orange wrapper made from ground rice, then deep fried and dipped in Ilocos spicy vinegar bite after bite. Some modified versions such as those that have more meat or more eggs are available. Being a restaurant that specializes in Ilocano food, pinakbet and bagnet, among others, are also included in the menu. These three popular dishes are thus recommended for first timers in this restaurant, or for those who simply want to have a taste of the north right in the heart of Makati.

Fariñas Ilocos Empanada is a self-service restaurant and unlike others, aside from the food, you’ll enjoy its serenity as this place is not too packed out. We’ve tried the Special Ilocos Miki, Bagnet Rice Meal and Insarabasab (Ilocano Sisig). The food is very appetizing, especially their Ilocos Miki and most of all, the remarkable Insarabasab. (I swear, I’ve never ordered that much rice until I tasted this scrumptious delicacy).We’re so full that time and since we’ve ordered a lot, we expected that we will pay that much. But to our surprise, we only paid PHP 289.00 for TWO. Their price range is from 40 to 170 pesos only!
