On top of the world. One of those rooftop bars, NEST provides an awesome meal alongside with a fresh take on cocktails.NEST MODERN TABLE & BAROne of those places that could get you high. Literally.Comfy seats and definitely a place to chill and relax. Although without any AC, the ceiling fan and the breeze was all you would need. The place caters to bar hoppers, yuppies and those that want a good time. Primarily a restobar, they also serve a decent place to get a cocktail and rest your feet after or before raving it up in RAVEN. For those wanting to just chill, fret not, as Fridays and Saturdays turn this place into a destination itself. DJs spin their ware late nights during the weekend and get the party started.A couple of weeks back, I was fortunate enough to get a taste of NEST. From the same group behind URBN, SALO, RAVEN and RELIK, and with CHEF BENJO TUASON at the helm, you would definitely know that they mean website business. To start the party, you could get these bar bites.ASSORTED YAKITORI (200Php) - Chicken, Pork, Salmon, Shrimp. If you can't decide, this is a good safe choice. Although, a bit too sweet for my taste and it lacks the RAWR factor.A play on the usual rolls, THE BEEF, CHEESE and MISO SPRING ROLLS (250Php).Deep fried goodness and just right for the KUNGFU. (kung pumulutan! LOL!)Now what about drinks? Cocktails left and right and perfect for any night. With loads of experience coming from different bars and resto they own, NEST follows through. Made with premium liquor , it won't get better than this.SEXY and I KNOW IT (331Php) - hotness!Abosulut Vanilla Vodka, Rose Syrup, Lemon and Maraschino Cherry LiquerGREEN MOJITO (414Php) - apple flavored mojito. Awesome!Bacardi Silver, Green Apple Puree, Green Charteuses, Mind and Ginger BeerBLUE MOON (331Php)Maker's Mark Bourbon, Black Currant, Lemon, Angostura and Blue FlowerSMOKIN (414Php) - incredible presentation. They serve this with a flaming decoration on top. Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch, Coconut Syrup, Honey and Lime (414Php)and for those who aren't into alcohol, NEST ICED TEA (92Php)More than the drinks and the bar bites, what impressed me where the mains and the starters.BEETROOT CARPACCIO (300Php)- something to whet the appetite but not for the meat lover like me.Feta cheese, Cistrus Segments, Candied Walnuts and Garlic Confit.HAM and EGGS (250Php) - pop the egg and the egg yolk come oozing out. The asparagus gave this dish a healthy bite and no i didn't have a bite. The ham on the other hand was perfect with the egg. Just like breakfast! FOIE GRAS and MUSHROOMS (550Php)- Delightfully sinful and savory. Buttery!Poached egg, crouton, parmesan and balsamic RACK OF LAMB (950Php)- succulent and well thought out.Juicy and tender. Incredible. Herb and mustard glaze, smoked egg plant, glazed zucchini and Lamb jus.ROAST CHICKEN SUPREME (Quarter 280Php) - flavorful and moist. The meat absorbed the seasoning pretty well. Duxelle, marble potatoes, veloute, snap peas5 SPICED ROAST PORK BELLY (250Php)- One of my favorites during the night. The soft meat was perfect while the noodles accompanied it very well. I love this. Kurobuta Pork Belly, Soy and Garlic Noodles, Sesame Cucumber Relish.IF these are not yet enough, they have some amazing dessert for your sweet tooth.CHOCOLATE TEXTURES (200Php)- for those chocolate cravings.Chocolate Marquise, raspberry Coulis, Fudge Brownies and StrawberriesREESE'S SANSRIVAL (200Php) - YAHOOOOO! sansrival and peanut butter combinedPeanut butter cream and chocolate ganacheand something to simplify everything,DONUTS and DIPS (200Php) - fluffy round donuts making it way to your tummy. Sarap!Peanut butter cream, Salted Caramel, Strawberry Jam accompanies these round desserts.A potential destination in itself, NEST BGC has become one of those places to try if you are into incredible views and great grub. Not to mention, they serve amazing cocktails that could get your night going. Needless to say, big chunk of the budget goes to the drinks so better get tipsy at home then head on over. The food is amazing except for a bar bites. The mains are what you are going here for.Disclaimer: Wrote this post based on my experience. Was invited to try the restaurant out and I am so glad I did.

Nest can be found on the roof deck of W Fifth Avenue building in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).Okay where to begin. Ahh.. the Chunky butternut squash soup with naan bread. The soup is thick and has this strong taste of a certain spice, which I’m sorry to admit I couldn’t identify (feel free to let me know if you do). The naan bread is chewy and tasty as it is but tastes a lot better when dipped in the soup. What came next is a blur of red and greens, different kinds of meat, tender, tough, and creamy textures, camera flashes, and ecstatic conversations. My head started reeling from the onslaught of all the wonderful flavors that engaged the senses. Meal came after another that I almost couldn’t keep up. It was overwhelming but I loved every second of it.One dish that has a rather unique presentation is the ham and egg. The hams are rolled and turned up on the plate like a flower, the egg is poached, which I mistook for white cheese. More than the ham and the egg though, what really got my attention was the very flavorful, asparagus. My first real favorite dish of the night was the buffalo chicken popcorn. I think I’ve gobbled down more than a few, I even ignored the next dish that was served because I was still busy eating this. When I’ve had enough chicken popcorn, I turned my attention to the other dishes, the 5 spiced roast pork belly with noodles and the Foie gras and mushrooms. I have always been curious about foie gras because I heard it’s banned in some places. If you do not know, foie gras is made from the liver of duck that has been forced-fed with more food than it could handle. If you think about it, the process is indeed a little bit cruel. If you look at it in this point of view you would understand why animal-rights advocates are against it. In the website point of view though, I could also understand why it’s expensive, foie gras is actually very luscious.I thought it was a regular french fries but a single bite told me otherwise. It turned out to be one if not the most interesting take on sweet potato fries that I’ve ever tried. There’s cheese, there’s crunchy bits of pork rind, it’s sweet, it’s spicy, and a tad salty. I was onto it the way I was with the chicken popcorn; relentless.Another dish that won gold stars for me is the Fillet of salmon. First of all, I am a fan of salmon, you give me salmon, you win my heart. It sits atop black rice and is decorated with cherry tomatoes. I could have just had this one dish for the whole night and I’d be happy. The other two dishes that also deserved merit but I wasn’t able to indulge in are the Rack of lamb and the Roast chicken supreme. By the time they were on the table, I was already almost full. I went easy on them to give room for the desserts.First on the line of desserts is the Donuts and dips. There are three choices for dips; peanut butter cream, salted caramel, and strawberry jam. Out of the three, the salted caramel is my favorite.I was able to try two of their cakes; the Reese’s sansrival and the Chocolate textures. Out of the two, I enjoyed the latter more due to it gelatinous layer. Also, it was a bit hard to cut through the Reese’s sansrival so I wasn’t able to completely enjoy it.

Perfect restobar for small gatherings. This is where we dined and had fun to celebrate my sister's bridal shower. The staff were very accomodating and they even insisted to keep first our kink cake before we go to Raven for after party. Overall, the dining experience was great!

I feel very sophisticated when I'm dining here. The ambiance is warm & inviting with the interior versatile enough for fine dining, or happy hour drinking after work. 1 of the highest buildings in the Fort, this place has a skyline view that comforts any patron while trying their signature cocktail drinks. Their food is very good from their tasty appetizers to the main course. I tried their Korean beef stew over a bed of Kim chi rice and this dish became an instant hit. The beef was tender & tasty, & the rice had the right heat so they complemented each other well. For the appetizers I had asparagus truffle soup, shrimp satay & wasabi chicken lollipop which were a great selection to pair with their draft beers.

If you’re looking for a cozy spot that can transport you away from the hustle and bustle of the business district, Nest Modern Table & Bar is the place for you. An entirely different scene awaits guests who walk into the elevators and go out into the roof deck. There’s the pseudo-“al fresco” dining set up: mini-gardens positioned around plush couches and cocktail tables; beyond, the vast skyline dotted with city lights; high glass ceilings offering a view of the sky. It’s so easy to get lost and forget you’re in BGC!But more than just the ambience, Nest also delivers awesome food! Here are some of the dishes I have tried:Chunky Butternut Squash and Chickpea Soup (PhP150)—a rich, flavorful bowl that packs both creaminess from the squash and an exciting spicy kick.Foie Gras and Mushrooms (PhP550): imagine a perfectly-seared piece of foie gras and a poached egg, lying on a bed of mushrooms, croutons, and cherry tomatoes, then drizzled with balsamic, and topped with parmesan. The dish is packed with contrasting flavors and textures.Pan-Seared Snapper (PhP470)--simply exquisite. A simple snapper fillet, seasoned with herbs, and a bit of skin still on—adding more smokiness and flavor. Underneath the generous cut is a delicious prawn and salmon roe risotto; you’d think this plate was some sort of a seafood overkill, but amazingly it works!5-Spiced Roast Pork Belly (PhP250)—tender slices of Kurobota pork belly, herb-crusted and laden with a sweetish glaze, peppered with sesame, and served on top of garlic and soy noodles. This dish’s flavors are distinctly Asian. I love the cucumber slices that I could munch on every time the tastes get overpowering.Donuts and Dips (PhP200) -- cinnamon-coated donuts served with salted caramel, peanut butter cream, and strawberry jam dips.Reese's Sans Rival (PhP200)--in place of butter cream, they used Reese’s chocolate, and even added a bit of chocolate ganache on the side. For someone who loves Reese’s and sans rival, this was a total treat for me. A lot of bars (not just in BGC) sell shitty drinks—but I’m happy to announce that Nest isn’t one of them. If you’re looking for decent cocktails, you might want to try Nest’s bar list:The Spider Web (PhP331) -- made of Dewar’s White Scotch, Cachaca Brazilian Rum, passion fruit syrup, and lemon. As you know, I would gulp down anything with whiskey in it—this one is perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness and punch, as promised. The Green Mojito (PhP414) -- the interesting thing about this version though is that aside from rum (they used Bacardi Silver), apple juice (green apple puree), and mint, Nest’s version has ginger beer, adding another layer of “buzz”.The Smokin’ (PhP441): Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch, coconut syrup, honey, and lime. The cocktail is served flaming. For the casual drinker, a bottle of ice cold beer is enough to satiate a craved-for nightcap or to relieve the stresses of the day, but for the more discerning drinker, a great drink is hard to find. Luckily for us, Nest is only a few floors up.(More details and photos in the blog.)

A new roofdeck bar and restaurant has opened in BGC: Nest Modern Table and Bar. I went with my friend to try out what this place has to offer. For signature drinks, try Sexy and I Know It, Spider Web and Green Mojito. For appetizers, I tried the very flavorful Chunky Butternut Squash and Chickpea Soup and Foie Gras with Mushrooms. Both powerful in taste and quite likable. For mains, we had the Pan-Seared Snapper and 5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly. Aside from having generous servings, both dishes are well-presented and really delicious. For dessert, we had Reese's Sansrival and Donuts and Dips. I found the Reese's Sansrival too sweet for me, but loved the simplicity of the Donuts and Dips. If you want to have a quiet dinner with delicious dishes and perfectly-concocted drinks, try NEST.

NEST is a modern gastronomy restaurant where Asian flavors meet Western-style cooking, located at the roof deck of the W Building. It's the antithesis of the Raven club with it's casual, bright, and welcoming ambiance. It's your home base for eating and drinking before or after clubbing in BGC. :)It's another successful restaurant concept by Chef Benjo Tuason of RELIK and URBN BAR & KITCHEN fame. Here's what we recommend when dining at NEST...Nest is at the roof deck of W Building in BGC--one floor above Raven Club. I love the casual al fresco ambiance of the garden-themed resto. AppetizersFoie Gras and Mushrooms (P550). Poached egg, croutons, parmesan, and balsamic. We started with a mushroom salad topped with poached egg and foie gras. It's something different to start off your meal. Ham & Eggs (P250). Jamon Serrano, poached egg, pea and mint salad, parmesan, and truffle oil.A good pica-pica to share at the start of your meal, especially if you're ordering some cocktails. Single Malt TastingI availed of the single malt tasting with cheese pairing, starting with Dalwhinnie 15, Oban 14, Singleton 12, Glenkinchie 12, Caol Ila 12, and Talisker 10.Here are some tips when going on a Single Malt Whiskey tasting:Start with the whiskey that is aged longer (Dalwhinnie 15) and drink your way to the youngest whiskey (Talisker 10), which is much stronger and with a full-bodied flavor.Cleanse your palate with soda water in between sips, and get a sniff of your skin to clear your sense of smell. It's best to smell the whiskey first, then take a sip. Remember to wwirl the whiskey around your glass as it grows stale after some time. You can pair the whiskey with the right type of cheese and some meats.I prefer the Dalwhinnie 15 with a long malty finish and gentle spice or the Oban 14 with a rich nose, smooth sweetness, and fruity finish when going on a relaxed drinking session with friends. The Singleton 12 is smooth with hints of chocolate, hazelnut, and fruits, and the Glenkinchie 12 is light, fresh, and also fruity, are both ideal as digestives or after-dinner drinks. The Caol Ila 12 and Talisker 10 have very strong characters and the types of whiskey you want to know more. The Caol Ila 12 is peppery, spicy, and with a distinctive Caol Ila smoke, while the Talisker 10 is bold, smoky, and with notes of the sea.Main DishesChili BBQ Chicken (Half - P325). Potatoes, bacon, and lemon slaw.I like the grilled chili flavor and the still-juicy meat of this half BBQ chicken.Pan Seared Snapper (P470). Prawn and salmon roe risotto. The fish meat is seared well, juicy soft, and not overcooked. Rack of Lamb (P950). Herb and mustard glaze, smoked eggplant, glazed zucchini, and lamb jus.The chef really knows how to prepare and cook meat, especially this rack of lamb with the right spice and lamb jus flavor.5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly (P250). Kurobuta pork belly, soy, and garlic noodle, sesame cucumber relish. My favorite--very tender pork belly with glass noodles and sesame seeds, plus cucumber to balance out the pork flavor. Smokin' (P414). Laphroaig single malt scotch, coconut syrup, honey, and lime.Make sure to order this signature whiskey cocktail with coconut, lime, and flaming star anis flavor. Lee Watson designed and concocted the 12 signature cocktails of NEST.Thank you and congratulations to the NEST team for another great restaurant & bar concept!Desserts Donuts and Dips (P200). Peanut butter cream, salted caramel, strawberry jam. This donut dessert was a bit heavy after eating all those meat main courses. But a good pica-pica dessert to share after clubbing. Nest Pavlova (P200). Mixed berries and tropical fruits, meringue, and creme patissiere. This was just OK too.Initially, I thought NEST--because of its Raven association--would be more of a snooty, high-class, bar food restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to know that it's actually a casual, down-to-earth, good-food-good-value kind of place.Chef Banjo's expertise is with meats, so you can't go wrong ordering any of the main dishes. I recommend the 5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly, the Rack of Lamb, Pan Seared Snapper, and Chili BBQ Chicken. The serving sizes are good for sharing and priced very well, with some dishes under P500. Skip the appetizer and desserts. Don't forget to order their signature cocktails or single malt whiskey. Budget about P500-P700 with drinks.

Great ambience and I have to say, good choice of music. Good food, especially the Salmon Yakitori! Definitely a must try, best with red wine!

The food was a tad short of average though their staffs' service made up for the shortcomings; they were quite attentive and highly intuitive when you need anything. The ambiance was also good. I kinda like the idea that the resto is in a way hidden; its on a roofdeck of a building somewhere near my work place.
