ichad dinner with my eating buddy last Saturday. As per your recommendations we ordered the Dracula killer, tutto mushroom salad and shrimp lobster pasta plus the jalapeño rice with steak. Thumbs up for all except the pasta. Maybe because I'm not fond of white sauce. fir spicy food lovers, youvwill love the jalapeño rice. I requested med rare for the steak. the rice had garlic too. it gers spicier as you eat. I heard yhey are opening in Shangrila mall soon.

The Pinoy palate is not accustomed to many spices, except garlic. Filipinos can be surprisingly generous in their use of garlic in the most unusual of places and Mad For Garlic is the mecca for all things garlic. True to it's name, every item on the menu takes inspiration from this strong herb. I couldn't help notice the quirky appetizer called "Dracula Killer" (hilarious reference) and immediately decided to order it. It comes out steaming, sizzling garlic pods in garlic oil with garlic bread. This spells recipe for a bad date! The intense garlic flavors really would have killed any vampire or diseases in my body. The best part is, you never feel that the garlic is too overwhelming. It's certainly an overload but the chefs expertly blend in the herb with other ingredients. For the main course I had the Arabbiata Pasta, for what is Italian food without copious amounts of garlic. This dish was labeled as being one of the spiciest on the menu with three kinds of spices and one cannot refuse anything with bacon in it. It proved to be a mouth-burning, mouth-watering treat and now is on my "best pasta in town" list.MFG is also experimental with their drinks. I tried the Wineade which was a concoction of wine and lemonade and was way better than sangria. The weirdest but the most delicious part of the meal was the garlic ice cream. I've never heard of such a thing and couldn't imagine the flavors so decided to try it. I was pleasantly surprised by the two tastes of sweet vanilla ice cream blending with roasted garlic bits. But the after-after-taste was unpleasant. Nonetheless, a great experiment! There are so many other things I wanted to try out that it warrants another visit for sure! I'll be sure to not arrange for any dates for two days after my dining experience :)

A couple of weeks ago, I got to sample some of the food at Mad for Garlic, a Korean franchise that gives Italian cuisine an Asian twist. It is located in the same building as CPK, IHOP, PF Chang's and Gyu-Kaku. I was expecting kimchi pasta and bulgogi pastas when I first heard about it but that was far from reality. The decor and the walls of wine as your enter scream expensive, chic and trendy but one after browsing the menu, you'll see a lot of affordable dishes. We started our meal with appetizers, Caprese Salad was the first to be served. Large slices of fresh tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella drizzled with an olive oil and basil dressing. You can't go wrong with all the fresh flavors in this one.The Tutto Mushroom Salad was a treat for me. I love the earthy taste of the three kinds of mushrooms included. The lightly teriyaki sauce as the Asian twist just heightened my enjoyment.Dracula Killer. Soft garlic bread with garlic cooked in olive oil and anchovies. From the name itself, you'll know it has something to do with garlic. The garlic was served in a pan I usually see used for escargot. The garlic had a nice roasted taste, sweet and a bit salty with the bits of anchovies.Zuppa di Pesce. A spicy seafood tomato soup that was a bit over my threshold, too bad since I loved the tangy taste. I was told that you could tell your server to temper the spice level when ordering. For refreshments, we had a choice of Yuja Ade or Wine Ade. I picked the yuja-ade, a traditional herb drink made of yuja (yuzu) fruit preserved in honey. It was a perfect choice since it was refreshing, a perfect foil for the weather. The wine ade is basically wine with soda. The Garlic Snowing Pizza was the hands down favorite for the day. Shrimps, pineapple and toasted garlic on top of Mad for Garlic's special sauce. I actually don't get the name in relation to the pizza but it appealed to my sweet leaning taste buds.Crab and Lobster Pizza, pasta cooked in garlic cream sauce. The garlic taste in this one was subdued by the cream and the briny flavors of the seafood. I love lobster and crabs so I could not help loving this one.We finished with the quirky Garlic Sprinkle Gelato, garlic ice cream with garlic cookie. The ice cream had a flavor that I just did not like. The cookie on the other hand was the one I enjoyed with its crisp and chewy texture filled garlic flavor.Lover s of garlic and Italian food should definitely have Mad for Garlic on their list of restaurants. I suggest sitting on the ground floor surrounded by the nice wine displays as well as avoiding a walk up their flight of stairs. Be sure to check your breaths after the meal....

Had the following:Dracula KillerWhite MusclesGarlic Snowing PizzaSpicy Meat Dipping PizzaShrimp and Lobster PastaGarlicpeño PastaGarlic SteakGarlic Sprinkle GelatoGood food with interesting takes on the usual dishes. The Ade's may be a bit too sweet for some though. Nicely done interiors, with a clean restroom.Service was not bad as the waiters were attentive and knowledgable on their dishes. Definitely must try at least once.

First was Krazy Garlik, then came Red Garlic; now there's a new Garlic in town - Mad for Garlic. Things I love about this place is its sophisticated interiors with lots of glass, mirrors and wine bottles. The ambiance of the place is very intimate so its ideal for romantic dates but I dont recommend kissing after eating plenty of garlic. (Thats why they provide Fox's candy after meal. ;))We ordered their best selling pasta, the Triple Garlic Pasta which comes with mixed seafood in spicy oil-based sauce. Yeah, its was good. It reminded me sort of an Asian pasta minus the sweetness.Next for the tummy was the Old Ham and Sausage Pizza. The solo size is best for 2 persons. The crunch is unbelievable, definitely a must-eat. For the climax, we order a Steak and Rice combo. (They offer 3kinds of combo so be sure to choose wisely according to your stomach) We chose this because the steak comes with garlpeno rice which they said was too spicy and asked us if we want it mild. Since we are a fan of spicy food, we just told we want the spiciness as is and DAMN, it was spicy. The combo comes with side salad to cool down your tongue.Overall, aside from the dryness of the steak.. the whole experience was great. I should be coming back here to try other food on the menu.

Truly, Deeply Mad for Garlic!Mad for garlic or not, you will definitely find the unique gastronomical experience Mad for Garlic in Bonifacio Global City offers addicting. Love garlic? This Korean-Italian bistro is a food haven! Mad at garlic? You will still love the dishes that's for sure! It's not just about the super strong flavor of garlic cloves in your food. It's the creativity of complementing garlic with other ingredients to create mouthwatering, unique flavors.Mad for Garlic is a popular restaurant in Korea brought to the Philippines offering garlic-based Italian dishes with an Asian twist. The branch in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig is the first and only in the country as of now. Mad for Garlic presents more than 50 kinds of garlic-based menus and a selection of premium wines. As you enter you will find a restaurant adorned with wine cellars. The ambiance is classy and relaxed. And they have friendly waiting staff who knows the menu well. We dined on Christmas day and the resto is not packed compared to the queue of the customers in IHOP, situated beside it, which draws a crowd especially on occasions like this.We had Chicken Crunchy Salad (new) and Dracula Killer (Php 195) as appetizers, for main course Garlic Snowing Pizza (Php 545), Dancing Salsa Rice with Steak (Php 295), Grilled Chicken and Mushroom Risotto (Php 395) and Triple Garlic Pasta (Php 595).Chicken Crunchy Salad (new)I totally fell in love with this salad. Well I am in love with salads, esp. oil-dressed ones, and this one is an addition to my many favorites! Can't stop eating it.Dracula Killer (Php 195)Soft garlic bread served with Garlic cooked in Olive Oil and AnchoviesHow I love this one! Be careful of the garlic as you take your first bite as it is hot.Garlic Snowing Pizza (Php 545)Mad for Garlic special sauce topped with Shrimp, Pineapple and Fried Sliced GarlicI am not a pizza fan, but this is really good! I am most especially not a fan of pizzas with pineapple bits, but to my surprise the sweetness of pineapple compliments the flavor of garlic very very well. Bravo to this pizza!Triple Garlic Pasta (Php 595)Spicy pasta served with Fresh Mussel, Shrimp, Cuttle Fish, and Garlic SproutThis pasta is so flavorful and it is also spicy, but you can always tame the spiciness. The waiters will usually ask you if you want to. We had it mild spicy for mom, but she still found it too spicy for her taste due to her zero tolerance to spiciness. As for me, I just loved it.Grilled Chicken and Mushroom Risotto (Php 395)Risotto cooked with Spinach and Three Kinds of Mushroom topped with Grilled ChickenThis is my favorite!!! Definitely a winner! The simplicity of its flavors just gets me. Not too strong, not too bland. Just right, just perfect.Dancing Salsa Rice with Steak (Php 295)Garlic Rice served with Wine-Marinated Beef, topped with Fresh Bean Sprout and Fried EggThey serve vanilla-garlic ice cream which we did not order due to mom's discouragement. I will try it next time I visit the place. They also serve good iced teas - blue and black. It's at Php 115 bottomless. We all know that garlic naturally does not give you the freshest breath. So upon billing out, the waiters will give you candies. ;) It is also wise to bring mouthwash to rinse away the smell of garlic from your mouth after enjoying the dishes. There are tables with couches further inside the restaurant which are more comfy and cozy, but only comfortably fit four diners a table. There are more seats on the second level which I did not get the chance to see. Reservations are not really necessary, but if you can it's best to always book for a table to avoid any hassle. Many might think that the breath the dishes will give you is totally unforgiving and may take days to go away, well it's not that bad. Once the garlic is cooked well, the bad smell goes away, as well as the unpleasant taste. The whole chunks of garlic cloves may look scary to eat, but they aren't really. They taste different, in a good way, when cooked well.If you are on your first date though, you might be hesitant to go here, which I totally understand. Still, it's garlic.Mad for Garlic is located at W Global Center, 30th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. You can reach it at 8089517. It is the same building where CPK and IHOP are located. As I have said, this place is not as busy as its neighbors, and that makes it more appealing to me. However, that does not mean the food isn't good, because it is!After leaving the restaurant, you would find a different sense of appreciation for one of the most common item in the pantry, GARLIC. And the taste will surely linger (and linger and linger) and you will come back for more. I will come back for more. ♥Review with photos can be found at http://www.moniquedejesus.com/2013/12/mad-for-garlic-bonifacio-global-city.html

Ready for more fusion? Fresh ingredients? Mad for Garlic is the place. The wine selection is extraordinary, but it won't break your wallet too much ;) A merlot would pair nicely with any of their seafood dishes. I do prefer a nice Roseau with the pasta and veggies. They get really full during the weekdays at lunch and dinner time so prep to be there right before or after those peak hours. The staff are courteous too. Smiles everywhere. One downfall is that they don't seem to be in the habit of cleaning the restrooms mid-shift. -_- Must: Capresè Salad, Roasted Garlic Cloves, sizzling Steak with garlic flakes overload, Any of their Pasta dishesKain!

Italian fusion with a garlicky twist! Everything can be spiced up with never too much garlic. With so much to try on the menu, so many permutations of spiciness and wine pairing, I'd be sure to keep coming back.

Three reasons I keep coming back to this place - Dracula (baked whole cloves of garlic & bread), Salpicao, 3 Garlic pasta. Ambience has deteriorated since the last time we were here. Service was still great but I just had to complain about the loud 80s music. You have a choice in serving size - personal and regular. Servings run smaller than usual so go for the regular even if eating it solo. Love their orange ade!
