ichad dinner with my eating buddy last Saturday. As per your recommendations we ordered the Dracula killer, tutto mushroom salad and shrimp lobster pasta plus the jalapeño rice with steak. Thumbs up for all except the pasta. Maybe because I'm not fond of white sauce. fir spicy food lovers, youvwill love the jalapeño rice. I requested med rare for the steak. the rice had garlic too. it gers spicier as you eat. I heard yhey are opening in Shangrila mall soon.

The Pinoy palate is not accustomed to many spices, except garlic. Filipinos can be surprisingly generous in their use of garlic in the most unusual of places and Mad For Garlic is the mecca for all things garlic. True to it's name, every item on the menu takes inspiration from this strong herb. I couldn't help notice the quirky appetizer called "Dracula Killer" (hilarious reference) and immediately decided to order it. It comes out steaming, sizzling garlic pods in garlic oil with garlic bread. This spells recipe for a bad date! The intense garlic flavors really would have killed any vampire or diseases in my body. The best part is, you never feel that the garlic is too overwhelming. It's certainly an overload but the chefs expertly blend in the herb with other ingredients. For the main course I had the Arabbiata Pasta, for what is Italian food without copious amounts of garlic. This dish was labeled as being one of the spiciest on the menu with three kinds of spices and one cannot refuse anything with bacon in it. It proved to be a mouth-burning, mouth-watering treat and now is on my "best pasta in town" list.MFG is also experimental with their drinks. I tried the Wineade which was a concoction of wine and lemonade and was way better than sangria. The weirdest but the most delicious part of the meal was the garlic ice cream. I've never heard of such a thing and couldn't imagine the flavors so decided to try it. I was pleasantly surprised by the two tastes of sweet vanilla ice cream blending with roasted garlic bits. But the after-after-taste was unpleasant. Nonetheless, a great experiment! There are so many other things I wanted to try out that it warrants another visit for sure! I'll be sure to not arrange for any dates for two days after my dining experience :)

A couple of weeks ago, I got to sample some of the food at Mad for Garlic, a Korean franchise that gives Italian cuisine an Asian twist. It is located in the same building as CPK, IHOP, PF Chang's and Gyu-Kaku. I was expecting kimchi pasta and bulgogi pastas when I first heard about it but that was far from reality. The decor and the walls of wine as your enter scream expensive, chic and trendy but one after browsing the menu, you'll see a lot of affordable dishes. We started our meal with appetizers, Caprese Salad was the first to be served. Large slices of fresh tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella drizzled with an olive oil and basil dressing. You can't go wrong with all the fresh flavors in this one.The Tutto Mushroom Salad was a treat for me. I love the earthy taste of the three kinds of mushrooms included. The lightly teriyaki sauce as the Asian twist just heightened my enjoyment.Dracula Killer. Soft garlic bread with garlic cooked in olive oil and anchovies. From the name itself, you'll know it has something to do with garlic. The garlic was served in a pan I usually see used for escargot. The garlic had a nice roasted taste, sweet and a bit salty with the bits of anchovies.Zuppa di Pesce. A spicy seafood tomato soup that was a bit over my threshold, too bad since I loved the tangy taste. I was told that you could tell your server to temper the spice level when ordering. For refreshments, we had a choice of Yuja Ade or Wine Ade. I picked the yuja-ade, a traditional herb drink made of yuja (yuzu) fruit preserved in honey. It was a perfect choice since it was refreshing, a perfect foil for the weather. The wine ade is basically wine with soda. The Garlic Snowing Pizza was the hands down favorite for the day. Shrimps, pineapple and toasted garlic on top of Mad for Garlic's special sauce. I actually don't get the name in relation to the pizza but it appealed to my sweet leaning taste buds.Crab and Lobster Pizza, pasta cooked in garlic cream sauce. The garlic taste in this one was subdued by the cream and the briny flavors of the seafood. I love lobster and crabs so I could not help loving this one.We finished with the quirky Garlic Sprinkle Gelato, garlic ice cream with garlic cookie. The ice cream had a flavor that I just did not like. The cookie on the other hand was the one I enjoyed with its crisp and chewy texture filled garlic flavor.Lover s of garlic and Italian food should definitely have Mad for Garlic on their list of restaurants. I suggest sitting on the ground floor surrounded by the nice wine displays as well as avoiding a walk up their flight of stairs. Be sure to check your breaths after the meal....

Had the following:Dracula KillerWhite MusclesGarlic Snowing PizzaSpicy Meat Dipping PizzaShrimp and Lobster PastaGarlicpeño PastaGarlic SteakGarlic Sprinkle GelatoGood food with interesting takes on the usual dishes. The Ade's may be a bit too sweet for some though. Nicely done interiors, with a clean restroom.Service was not bad as the waiters were attentive and knowledgable on their dishes. Definitely must try at least once.

First was Krazy Garlik, then came Red Garlic; now there's a new Garlic in town - Mad for Garlic. Things I love about this place is its sophisticated interiors with lots of glass, mirrors and wine bottles. The ambiance of the place is very intimate so its ideal for romantic dates but I dont recommend kissing after eating plenty of garlic. (Thats why they provide Fox's candy after meal. ;))We ordered their best selling pasta, the Triple Garlic Pasta which comes with mixed seafood in spicy oil-based sauce. Yeah, its was good. It reminded me sort of an Asian pasta minus the sweetness.Next for the tummy was the Old Ham and Sausage Pizza. The solo size is best for 2 persons. The crunch is unbelievable, definitely a must-eat. For the climax, we order a Steak and Rice combo. (They offer 3kinds of combo so be sure to choose wisely according to your stomach) We chose this because the steak comes with garlpeno rice which they said was too spicy and asked us if we want it mild. Since we are a fan of spicy food, we just told we want the spiciness as is and DAMN, it was spicy. The combo comes with side salad to cool down your tongue.Overall, aside from the dryness of the steak.. the whole experience was great. I should be coming back here to try other food on the menu.
