First heard of this place from the game Yakuza which featured it (even had its own substory) and got curious ever since. Ordered assorted kushikatsu which is their specialty. It's easy to get carried away with ordering since there are just so many to choose from (ended up getting 10 sticks). They also have sets available if you can't be bothered ordering them yourself. The ones I found good were their classic kushikatsu (beef), beef tongue, chicken intestine and camembert cheese. Disappointed with the oysters as they're so tiny and so not worth the price at P129/piece. Also tried their Gyudon and Tantanmen. Both were good though the gyudon serving size is kinda bitin particularly the rice. Wanted to try their Matcha Lava Cake as well but it was unavailable at the time.Overall, food was ok. The vibe of the place was cool and quirky which I liked. Serving time was somewhat quick particularly for the rice bowl and ramen. The skewers took longer to prepare. Servers were attentive and give water refills without us even asking. Ventilation was great as we did not end up smelling like we stepped out of the kitchen upon leaving (a feat considering they primarily serve fried food all day). The "no double dipping" rule is kind of scary though if not everyone complied. Do they reuse the sauce already served to customers? I certainly hope not.

Skewered items took too long to serve but it still worth the wait. The kushikatsu is crunchy and not oily and the dipping sauce is zestful. But yeah, nothing can beat the original in Osaka. One thing I hate is that the dipping sauce was filled just half of it's bowl and it doesn't reach the top of some skewers. The sauce maybe is communal just like the ones in Japan so you should not dip your katsu twice. They gave you some side vegetables and you can use the lettuce or cabbage as a spoon if you really want to have the sauce on your katsu again. However, the veggie sides came late for us; it should be served with the kushikatsu at the same time. I hope they don't reuse the dipping sauce because after we ate, crumbs from our food are left in the sauce. Food is good but pricey.

It seems they revampes their menu and now have ramen! This is why rating is at 4.5. Without the ramen, it would just be a 3 as the sticks are not that great. The karaage is good too!

With family in tow, my brother suggested we eat here at Kushikatsu Daruma for my Dad's birthday last Saturday evening. A casual Japanese restaurant with a very nice interior, replicating the streets of Osaka with the steel roofing and fences. Newspaper wallpaper dot the restaurant as well as the very cute albeit stern warning of the owner reminding customers NOT to double dip.We were welcomed by the front of house and quickly led us to our seats, we were 10 in our group with 3 toddlers and a newborn, you can say we were a handful. Kids love "pancit". Good thing we ordered ramen because they preferred the noodles over the donburi. They kept asking for more of the "pancit". LOL. Speaking of ramen, my mom loved the ramen, the broth was rich and silky smooth. Her bowl though had more soup than mine which did not make any sense. Before I was over, my bowl barely had any soup. The Chicken Donburi Bowl was generous, my only qualm though was the dry chicken, it was tough and chewy. We enjoyed the fried sticks we ordered one beginner set and one advance set. A bit of guessing game on choosing the sticks was fun. It was too expensive though for 490pesos for 9 or 12 sticks. You save a couple of pesos versus buying it a la carte for 39 or 49pesos. Still very pricey. Service water was served without asking. Service time was fast, the inside was a bit hot, was it because many diners where inside during our visit. Senior discounts honored.

This unmistakably Japanese resto with big signs of “No Double Dipping,” made me very curious about what kind of Jap food they’re serving. The easiest way of describing this would be that if Nanbantei was for yakitori (grilled skewers) then this place is for kushikatsu (fried skewers). Overall, I really liked one out of the three side dishes that we ordered, the corn with bonito flakes. As for the skewers, they're mostly like tonkatsu-d everything from leeks to chicken to camembert...

Kushikatsu Daruma is ubiquitous in Osaka with multiple branches which are always full of diners. We’ve never tried the original in Japan, but because of its popularity there, we decided to try the local branch in BGC. We were not too impressed with the food. The kushikatsu (deep fried skewers - we got the sampler which included everything from pork to camembert cheese) was the best part of our meal. It was however, not good enough for us to ever want to come back. The ramen broth was too strong - we almost wanted to water it down because it was too salty. The ramen noodles could have been firmer too. The karaage was not great either, and was rather expensive for the serving size and quality.Since we haven’t tried the original, we’re not sure if the quality isn’t the same, or if the entire chain is just overhyped.

A bit pricey and the skewers didn't taste good a little bland it has no flavor inside even though we should dip it in sauce still it gave no justice for the taste. Ambience is 👍 chuhai not that good either it can get bland easily because of the ice. Over all its a meh not going back here

Kushikatsu Daruma opened earlier this year at Uptown Mall, but it's a concept that has long been around. In fact, it started in Osaka in 1929. They're known for their deep-fried skewers made with light batter dipped in special tonkatsu sauce. And their only rule? NO DOUBLE DIPPING!. I really hope to God that people follow that rule. I don't even want to think about the fact that other people may have double dipped. Eww. :((
