It's my first time to visit Jonas in BGC but this restaurant is not foreign to me as my mom used to bring home some take away from its Mandaluyong branch. I went here with some officemates after work a couple of months back and ordered Spring Rolls (PHP88) and Fried Rice (PHP48) for light dinner. (This combo is actually my favorite from Jonas and I was not in the mood to try something else hence going with the tried and approved meal.)It was consistent with its Mandaluyong branch. The spring roll was crisp, flavorful and went well with fried rice.Though this could be seen to be a pricey counterpart of Chow King's lumpia and yang chow combo which you could get for less than PHP80, I prefer Jonas' rolls anytime!

Jonas had been probably around for more than two decades already.  Jonas is a familiar name to people who loves eating home-cooked good food at a corner carinderia.  With Pares as their best-seller, Jonas had been synonymous with that dish. Pares which meant pair, was said to originally coined by the owner Lolly Tiu.

Wednesday lunch out with colleages, and it turns out pretty good. One friend suggested Jonas, so we headed towards Fort Strip right away. We have ordered several dishes to try. Beef Tapa and PARES, ftw! They're also generous with the servings. (see images)Store/Ambiace: Relaxing, they might just need to improve the airconditioning :)Service: Very friendly & accommodating staffs! Food: Delisyoso! Exceeds my expectation. They also have stall for pika pikas or pasalubong. haha Looking forward for our next visit. Thanks, Jonas! ♡

Jonas takes pride in a rich history of providing affordable meals in a better ambiance. They also claim coining the word Pares which is a popular Filipino beef stew staple. Jonas recently took over iconic Zong restaurant space in the Fort Strip area. Their Pares did impress with its generous portioning, tender enough meat and really tasty seasoning. It could use more star anise for a stronger after taste. I also loved the Seafood Fried Rice with its quality rice and spikes of salted fish. Another good pick was Pinyahang Manok. Fruity pineapple taste was evident all throughout and its meat tender. It could use more white meat though as it had too much skinny chicken parts. Salted Egg Chicken was a failed attempt to join this flavor craze. Too greasy and had a flat taste. Kikiam though was a surprise favorite among our group and this is despite it being artificial. It can be bought cold on their mini market fronting the store. Check out their cool All Gender Restroom too. It's the first of its kind I've seen to push equality and anti discrimination.

It's a nice place, that's it. Food could have been great but exaggerately pricey. Never had a pares worth more than Php 200.00, when taste and presentation ain't that special. Sorry but not coming back here at this branch.

I went here the other day, and I didn't quite enjoy the food. I was gonna give a solid 1 star, but the additional star is for the nice place and good service. Other than that, the food is really bad. That beef pares is far from what it looked like in their print materials, the sandwiches were really off. Sobra-sobra sa mayonnaise and it just really threw me off. Plus, I paid almost 150 for a single layer sandwich na tinipid sa palaman. The rice that came along with the pares were hard. Halatang luma na yung rice. There were only about 4 or 5 chunks of beef and then puro soy sauce na. The dirty pares sa tabi-tabi tastes far better than this one. I honestly don't mind if they're pricey. It's BGC afterall, pero sana naman naramdaman ko na sulit yung bayad... hindi yung tinipid.Sadly, I will not recommend unless they improve.

I had a feeling that I would get slightly disappointed in their Original Pares, given that the place is never full! Even during peak hours!True enough, it was a disappointing visit. It starts with the waitress who ignores the people sitting outside waiting to have their orders taken.Next, the soup is just bad. Finally, the serving size is too small for a P198 (excl servuce charge) dish.

I used to like this place. I remember the rice being so good it was like a meal itself and the portions were generous. Sadly every meal after that was just downward spiral, the rice takes like leftover rice from yesterdays batch, dry and scattered, the servings smaller, the servers so inattentive I could've probably walked out without paying because there was literally no one out front! They were all huddled in their little group on their phones. There was even a rat running around!

I was looking for places to dine in  the Fort strip  and I cam accross this place that serves some late night comforting food. I got their lemon chicken meal  and it was  everything  that comforted me throughout the night.  It was delicious and tasty and very filling with their garlic rice. I may have to return here and try their pares as price points like this are affordable already from  very expensive dining areas in the BGC area.
