Date night at beso. Food is front and centre at Beso and so it should be. Menu was pretty exciting, with a mix of classic ingredients and dishes for tapas. Sardines, chorizo, squid, tuna... Although I was slightly put off by the ratio of dishes with a gratuitous "foam" of some sort... Stop it, foam was cool for about a month, it's not now... But that aside, when the food came it was top notch. Especially the squid with rock salt and chilli, classic tapas. Very simple, letting the ingredients speak for themselves.Filled up with a couple of jugs of sangria, which was delicious if maybe slightly overpriced.Love the menu as placemat concept which tempted us with one more tapas dish when we weren't quite full enough.Desert was mixed, which loses beso half a point. The jamon ham cheesecake was brave and adventurous, and I can't argue that the flavours kind of go together... But as a dessert it was all wrong...Definitely will go back, and recommend everyone tries it.

Hidden in the concrete jungle of the Fort, lays Beso. Great out door bar viewing the contains of super block. Great food (lamb shank) and awesome sangrias (lavida sangria) Great date place, quiet atmosphere, beautiful Ambiant music. Parking is difficult and somewhat confusing but once you get one you are golden. The beso paella is the best seller.... Will try it and review it when I go back.

We were looking for a place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo but somehow ended up in a Spanish restaurant. Things have gotten better since my last visit here. For one, they now give you the bread with olive oil for free. This plus the Gambas with Chorizo is a winning combination. The soft bread makes a great mop for cleaning up the oil from the Gambas. The Beso Paella is a winner with all the lovely charred bits of rice under and well-cooked toppings. It's a bit expensive if you compare it to other places though. Around P700 would get you a bigger serving in places like Rastro or Terry's. Their margaritas, the only link to Cinco de Mayo in this instance, aren't the frozen variety. This means that you get to taste more of it instead of chugging it down like a sorority girl. It's a well-balanced drink with good value for money at about P200.The best time to visit Beso is when they're about 50-70% full. The kitchen staff is fully warmed up and the floor staff has enough capacity to make sure your water glasses are always full.

This new spanish restaurant in Global City was recommended by a friend who told me price was affordable enough so off I went last night with a guest. Ordered some Tapas. Nothing great but filling. Wanted to get some Pintxos but they said it was all in skewers! I don't think they know what a pinto is :) Got me some bean soup cause there was no other choice. There were only 3 choices - one was Gazpacho and I don't like cold soup, another was the good old Chicken noodle soup and I though why will I take a noodle soup in a spanish resto? Soup was fine. didn't like anything at all in the Main meal menu. My guess ordered Beef with mashed potato. I tried one slice and it was filling enough so it was good I didn't order it. It didn't really taste spanish. I ordered Iberico ham and hoped it was close to the one in Spain. Gosh, it was too salty and I thought I was tasting an ordinary salami. Very salty. Php 95 for 15 grams. Dessert was great, the only saving grace, some sort of a flan. Over all experience was so so. Was I expecting a lot? Prices were not that cheap but I hoped for better quality.

Paella here is great. As well as the tablas de casa. But the serving us fairly small.
