Dec 30 2021We had our lunch here its our first time to try to dine here. In the past when we went here its always full luckly to day we can try their food. We are group of 9 pax 7 adult and 2 kids. We order 2 order of kansi soup, 2 crispy pata,2 lumpia shanghai,2 tortang talong,7 petso inasal, 1 kare kare gulay,1 grilled squid 5plain rice and 1 bagoong rice and for our drinks ordered 4 bottomless ice tea 3 sagot gulaman and for dessert putobumbong, turon, bibingka. Well food tasted good except for the lumpia shanghai. Food serving for the soup is big. Price is abit pricey and they also charge 10% service charge so it will be abit hefty. All this food cost us almost 12k pesos...their crispy pata is 1200 pesos already but in website price is only 910pesos. Service is good and it should be because they charge service fee.place is so.nice. problem would be the parking is you come.during 11am onwards.

The Two Sides of my Balay Dako Experience:September 4: HeadsEasing restrictions in Metro Manila after months of confusing lockdowns, my boyfriend and I finally got to celebrate his birthday at Balay Dako. Prior to visiting, I checked website for reviews and it was disappointing. Several reviews claims of slow service and unapproachable servers. However, giving the benefit of the doubt and trusting my friend's word that the place is opposite the reviews, we proceeded to Tagaytay and dined at Balay Dako. The experience was great! The servers, who's very approachable, sitted us where we can see a view of Taal while dining. The food (we ordered Kare-Kare, lumpia, and puto bumbong) was sumptuous and worth the price with its large servings. Also, the ambiance of the place was really beyond expectation. Overall, it was a 5 star review. October 2: TailsFor my second visit, I went to Balay Dako with my officemates, who, like me, also wants to get away from the stressful environment of Metro Manila. Having had a nice and smooth experience the first time I visited, I expected so much of Balay Dako. However, this time the reviews proved correct. The service was very slow and the servers inhospitable, despite ordering only 5 cups of coffee, 2 plates of puto bumbong, and a plate of turon. We dined at Salakot Al Fresco Dining & Cafe prior to Balay Dako. The visit was really meant for a quick coffee break before heading to Manila. But, the "quick" coffee became a two-hour long stay. The piaya that we cancelled because the server says we had to wait 2-hours to get was served, albeit the last minute. The service was very disappointing. However, the ambiance of the place still is stunning. This time I get to dine at the upper floor of the restaurant who have a different view and mood compared to the lower floor. The food also is still worth the visit. Overall, my second visit is a 3 star review.

Food is good - not that great. I was not impressed with their Ginataang Kalabasa. The Salt & Pepper Spareribs is too salty. Some of the foods I tried and recommend are Lechon Kawali, Sinigang na Hipon, Tsokolate Batirol. The place is great. It has an awesome view of Taal Volcano. Great for pictures. Even the structure is picturesque. They even have their own bakery. I recommend the Raisin Bread. One jar cost P160.The only thing that I don't like here are the waiters. Altho the restaurant has a lot of staff, some of them are not attentive. Their service is also slow. On top of this, I think the ushers are doing great job assisting the customers.

Service:Had to wait for around an hour to get seated. Once we got seated, they put an unknown guest’s bill at our table (waiter didn’t bother looking back even if we told him it wasn’t ours. SHAME!) Another 15-20 minutes for our orders to get taken (they will always tell you to wait, but nobody’s coming) I HAD TO GO UP TO A WALKING WAITER FOR THEM TO TAKE OUR ORDERS; WHAT AN EXCELLENT SERVICE. Food: We ordered Bulalo, BBQ, and Satay. The Bulalo broth was so-so but the beef was very tender. Their BBQ and Satay tastes very well.Verdict:Not going back. The horrible experience is not worth the good tasting bbq and satay.

I was initially extremely excited to eat here again as I haven't eaten out in months due to the pandemic. I ordered the Sinigang, Tuyo Rice, Pampano, Lechon Kawali and Palitaw. The meat and vegetables in the Sinigang were cooked perfectly, but the soup was very bland. It was extremely unexpected especially when ordering from Balay. It almost tasted like there was no seasoning. The Tuyo Rice was unfortunately also another huge disappointment. The rice wasn't salty at all, and the tuyo flavor was nonexistent. Tomatoes were also added to the rice which made it very moist and wet. The entire rice dish was soaking in tomato water/juice. I actually had to order salt just to season the rice a little bit, and I had to clarify the dish with the waiter to make sure that they gave us the correct dish as well... "Tuyo Rice" on the menu is very misleading, maybe the name can be changed to tomato rice instead. The Lechon Kawali was soggy and hard to cut. It wasn't crunchy at all and the skin was extremely chewy :( The Pampano was delicious though, thankfully. While the Palitaw was absolutely divine! I will definitely go back for dessert.

Contrary to some reviews here, we had a very good dining experience here at Balay Dako.I was pleasantly surprised how organized they are the moment you enter the premises. After guiding your parking, they will queue you up for seating. The food is good, all in all. The menu is better suited for groups compared to Antonio's where it's mostly in a "per dish" order. They served our dishes in about 15 minutes, which I find very good for such an establishment with a high number of visitors. It is a bit pricier also, but with the overall experince being satisfactory, I say it is worth it.

Kumain kme kninang mga 230pm, na serve naman ang food on time but the shrimp with salted egg ay malamig at prng di bagong luto hindi rin malasahan ung salted egg and the shrimp is not fresh frozen i think for more than a day. Lumapit ung waiter to ask how is the food at sinabi ko ung shrimp eh malamig at prng walang lasa ang nkakatuwang tugon eh ah gnun po ba yan lng ung sinabi. Then our group continue eating hindi ksi ako kumakain ng kare kare pero mga kapamilya ko oo Surprisingly may foul smell ung maliit na cut ng laman sa servings nila, 2 bowls servings so tinawag ulit nmin si waiter to tell it at ang sagot lng eh eh sige po sasabihin nmin kay chef yan lng tugon so akala namin may lalabas pra makaipag usap samin pero wala. Hindi nmin 1st time kay Balay Dako 2nd or 3rd time ata also ang Bil nmin is more than 20k ksi 15pax kme kumain so mataas expectation nmin sa quality at taste ng food pati service kso nganga pasok sa isang tenga at labas sa kbilang tenga lng mangyayari.

We were a big group which means we were able to order a lot from their menu, namely: Sizzling Bulalo na Baka, Dinuguan, Bistek Tagalog, Sinigang na Baboy, Kare Kare Klasik, and Pusit with their Bibingka and Puto Bumbong as our desserts.Honestly speaking, while their food was delicious, it was too expensive. I guess what we're really paying for is the view, which, to be fair, was really beautiful.

I was expecting more on the food since it's kinda pricey but didn't meet my expectations. Their staff was really slow and not approachable. I was anticipating a great service since their service charge is expensive. Not worth it. The only thing that is worth it is the view of the Taal.
