Tagaytay used to be a quiet place where people from the Metro can go to escape the buzz. The weather is nice, the breeze is cool and there's no stress and traffic. Today, Tagaytay has morphed into a website destination. Everyone has discovered it's charm and weekend road trips became stressful and the traffic had gone bad. A trip to this place has become a second thought for me especially since a weekday getaway is quite impossible.

Another one of dem Food Crawls.  This time we are set to wreak havoc in Tagaytay.  I know there are a lot of restaurants to explore in this side of the website hemisphere.  This is the first I've heard of Amacena.  I ain't sure if this is a foreign language or something but i am digging the name as it easily sticks to my memory.  For some odd reason,  i associate this with a local flower.  The restaurant is located inside  One Tagaytay Place and the Chef is the son of a popular matinee idol from the 80's.  Amacena reeks of modern B&B,  quiet sophistication.  They served a feast.  When I say feast,  i mean every word.  There is so much food i got a lil woozy.  I will only write about the ones I tried. | Five Cheese Pizza.   This is my favorite among the two.  I mean,  who doesn't like cheese.  This baby is comprised of blue,  mozza,  cheddar,  parmesan and feta.  An explosion of cheesey proportions in every bite. | Pinakbet Pizza.  This is case of combining two different things and getting mediocre results.  Pinakbet is thr quintessential veggie Filipino dish but adding this in pizza is sitting well with my tastebuds.  The eggplant is too watery and the texture doesn't go well with the pizza.  I'd still give the Chef brownie points for trying though.  | Tawilis Pizza.  Another gamble that didn't pay off.  The tawilis is not doing anything for me.  Maybe i got used to the saltiness of anchovies hence i found it really difficult to like this pizza.  | Sizzling Bulalo Steak| Smokin' Bistek| Bulalo| Dinakdakang ChicharonThe four dishes mentioned above is my top four in the entrées.   I purposely grouped them together because of their not-so-healthy reputation.  The bulalo steak is bad for my cardiovascular system but it tastes too friggin good.   The meat is really tender and the sauce thingy is oozing with Bulalo goodness.  As for the Dinakdakang Chicharon...the name itself reeks decadence and indulgence.  Well,  it so rich and un-healthy and I want more.  Yes,  i am a daredevil like that.  The last time I've had Bistek was eons ago. Boy,  i was glad Amacena has this in their roster.   And yes,  their version is the sizzling kind which in turn makes it a gazillion times better.  The Bulalo on the other hand is nothing but awesome.  I love the flavorful broth,  it suits the cool breeze. | Belgian Chocolate Eruption.  This is their take on ze Molten Lava Cake.  I took a couple of spoonfuls and i love it.  MLC is one of the chocolate desserts that i like because it is not too sweet.  They also served the following: | Honey Bagoong Wings | Tuna Kilawin| Longganisa Corn Dogs| Gambas Con Chorizo| Duo of Tacos| Aligue ExpressI know what you're thinking,  i missed a great deal by skipping some of the dishes mentioned above.  In all honesty,  i am perfectly satisfied with the stuff I tried.  Amacena delivers in the taste department,  there were a couple of "misses" but the rest are all "hits" Till we meet again,  Amacena.

Amacena is one good example of a Filipino restaurant that dares to be different! Words are not enough how satisfying every single food they have served us. I love how they try to innovate Filipino food and bring the game to the next level! Check out the photos and may I warn you, it will honestly make you wonder how they taste like because even in photos, they really seem to be good! 😋🍴

Checked in at One Tagaytay place and we never thought that their food was so good you'll come back for it. Their SMOKIN' BISTEK is the best dish I've tried on this restaurant and it goes really well with GARLIC RICE. Their service is fast, too. We only waited for 10-15 minutes for the food. It's a must try! ❤️

This little gem knocks it right out of the park! Price point to food quality ratio is off the hook!Try the sizzling bulalo and pumpkin soup. It was really good and hearty, a very kid friendly restaurant as well.Don't let the facade of this place throw you off, the dishes they serve are really on point and you really get the most out of your money. Great job guys!
