When i first read the itinerary for our Tagaytay Food Crawl, my non 20/20 eyesight focused on 1st Colonial instantly.  My brain went on a non-stop tirade.  It begins and ends with "Familiar" I can't remember where i saw/heard this restaurant,  but when i saw Sili Ice Cream,  it all made sense.  I think i saw a feature on the boob tube once.  Anyway,  here i am acting giddy for their one of a kind ice cream. Before we talk about the fiery frozen treat,  let me start my review with their savory dishes. | Bahay Kubo Salad| Tinapa Fried Rice| Bagoong Fried Rice| Buko Chopsuey| Tinutungang Manok | Wings of FireI didn't get to taste all of the dishes as i was still recuperating from the feast at Amacena.  I took a couple of spoonfuls of the rice dishes and both are pretty good.  The bagoong rice is flavourful with the right amount of saltiness.   The tinapa rice on the other hand is a lil tamed in terms of flavor.  It lacks the smoky flavor that i am looking for.  I guess this is designed for the gen pop crowd or maybe i didn't get enough smoked fish.  Anyway,  everyone seemed satisfied with this...so i guess it's just me.  Well,  taste is relative. Sweets| Sili Ice Cream | Cacao Ice Cream | Melon Ice Cream | Pili Ice Cream| Calamansi Ice Cream | Malunggay Ice Cream | Cucumber Ice Cream The sili ice cream has three levels and i tried all.  Level three is spicy alright,  the kind that will make your throat itch.  And oh,  there's the  other kind,  the server said it is 10x spicier than the others.  Tried this one too,  same level of spice as level 3.  In my humble opinion,  I think it would be way better if they can incorporate the sili with dark chocolate to entice more customers to try it.  I mean,  not everyone digs labuyo.  And this will lessen the cloying factor of the ice cream too.  The other ice cream variants are surprisingly good.   Pili and Calamansi stood out.  The pili is smooth and creamy with a light flavor combination,  think of it as vanilla with a nutty flavour profile.  I like citrus,  hence my affinity with the Calamansi variant.  Apart from the lovely green hue,  this frozen treat delivers in the taste department,  very refreshing. First Colonial is one of those restaurants who take pride in Filipino dishes,  they know how to satisfy every Pinoy website. Thank you for having us,  i enjoyed your fiery frozen treat!

Love the bahay kubo vegetable dish! and the Laing.  The Ice cream was good as well, I couldn't eat the sili ice cream. It was too hot for me.. And I just ate the level 1. This resto is great for tourists, families and locals. They have a warm and friendly staff and the ambiance is great as well,  I love the bagoong rice as well.

Food is well executed, delicious and worth the price. Excellent Service - LEGENDARY Service from the staff. We've ordered Tinutungang Manok(345),Bicol Express(295) in which pork was grilled first before sauteing to fresh coconut milk -that's how it made a difference, Laing Spicy(199), Grilled Tuna(379), and Bahay Kubo Salad(125)-Veggies from the song itself "Bahay Kubo." Oops, never forget the Tinapa Fried Rice(255) -it's soooo good and UNIQUE. THEY OWN IT !1st Colonial made our Vacation satisfying, for sure we'll see them very soon, not as 'See You Tomorrow' dialogue from their friendly staffs.Truly, "Experience Bicol in Tagaytay."

Only resturant that i know that serves authentic bicolano food outside bicol region.( plus the best tagaytay bulalo) Their price points is a great value for money with a comfortable and welcoming environment that provides the best experience for me and my family. Their tinapa rice is amazing! ( kanin pa lang ulam na ) grilled tuna is a love at first bite because of its freshness and that special sauce but the best for this restaurant is their service that builds the overall experience perfect! Foodquality+service+welcomingenvironment=thebest

First tried this restaurant in Legazpi City, so upon learning that they already have it here in Southern Tagalog I immediately brought my family.Famed for their sili (chili) ice cream which comes in 3 different levels this established restaurant is popular in Bicol region. Pinangat which is somewhat similar to Laing is actually a side-dish for the Bicolanos but for me it is already a meal, perfect to pair with their Tinapa Rice. Vegetable Kare-kare is another dish that I strongly recommend that's best paired with their bagoong. Their Bicol Express is worth trying as well.Their value meals comes with unlimited rice (white or tinapa) and one glass of drink. This deal is value for money if you are a big fan of unlimited rice. Some of their dishes though are a bit on the pricey side. Though the food are quite enjoyable, their service is not at par.
