The ramen broth looks like it came from an instant ramen broth packet - and unfortunately tastes like it as well. The black pig ramen has a bit more smokiness but nothing extraordinary. The Tonkatsu dishes were also not that good.

The soup stock is what u pay for. And the ramen and all its contents are there to have "meat" or something solid to the soup. It's rare to experience a place with quality soup stock, and i particularly like this place for it.

Hey y'all zomaters! Been roaming around Greenhills lately and I found this awesome Japanese resto at the Promenade. If your ramen-loving taste buds yearn for something oishi , then this is something I would totally brag about. Tampopo's eminence from any other Japanese cuisine is the sheer presence of the black pig. I didn't know how it tastes differently from the normal pork, until we ordered the Black Pig Shabu Ramen, and we thought that this is something special. The noodles were as tongue-smacking as the soup itself (which by the way has been prepared for two days! Imagine that.) and never to forget to feast with tonkatsu which gave us the full-blown stomach as we went home. We were not able to taste other special food on the menu but we'll definitely be coming back for more!

Their tonkatsu was not good. It was overcooked, making the meat dry and breading too crunchy. But their oyster katsu was scrumptious. It was big, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Their entanbetsu soba was just okay.Service was little slow.If I get the chance to try this restaurant again, I’ll probably order their ramen instead. I hope it’s better than their tonkatsu.

The casual and comfortable Japanese restaurant has been recognized in Singapore for its signature ramen. Tampopo takes pride not only in their ramen but also in their tonkatsu, which they call its preparation as a form of art.The Food:Both Reine and I looked forward to unlimited shredded cabbage with Japanese sesame dressing. It was something not to miss out in restaurants like Tampopo. Hakodate Original Ramen (Php 370) - Initially planned to order different types of ramen but we all ended up getting the same type of ramen. Well, 3 of us (dad, uncle and me) had Hakodate Original Ramen. Despite being pounded by my hunger at that moment, I still wanted to keep it calm and light. And that ramen I ordered did exactly how I wanted my meal. Mentaiko Layer Cutlet (Set - Php 470 / A La Carte - Php 400) - Reine was in a state of confusion and couldn't decide immediately whether she would be getting ramen, as originally planned, or give in to tonkatsu, which is one of her favorites. She found herself more inclined to tonkatsu, Mentaiko Layer Cutlet Set, when she had to choose only 1. The strongest factor I would say was its unlimited cabbage, as part of the set. We both loved the crunch of Tampopo's tonkatsu. So delicate that the taste gives pleasure while dining. With its sauce, we couldn't afford letting go of the meat with our chopsticks. Salmon Katsu - Table advertisement/promotions work! Let's put mom's case as an example. We were already in the middle of our dinner until she noticed the ad displayed on our table showing Salmon Katsu. She called the waiter and ordered her salmon. I thought it would take a long time and surprisingly, the waiter returned to our table quickly with the salmon on his hand. For more details and photos, visit my food blog! :)Pray, Eat and Love.Cheers,The Food Scout

The Pork Katsu was quite good and tasty, I'm not a Katsu connoisseur but I'd say along the lines of Yabu, the fried Gyoza was tasty and flavourful albeit a little oily on the inside. I tried the deluxe Hokadate Ramen and was underwhelmed, the broth was too light and limp, it had a nice subtle flavour on first sip but after a while it started tasting too watery, even with the extra butter and corn. Still a far cry from Ukkokei, Daisho and Ikkoryu.

Promenade 3 is heaven for foodies as most of its outlets are restaurants. But dining there comes at a price as most choices are quite expensive and there are no fast food joints. The layout is classy and impressive, particularly the central area which is shared by many restaurants.Tampopo, being one of them, is best accessed through the side door fronting Gloria Maris. The main dining area is sunken. Another dining area is a split level up and may be used for small functions. The kitchen is at the back. There is no restroom on site.Dining at Tampopo is expensive if orders are done individually. Sharing allows diners to try out more items while saving at the same time.Because Tampopo is most proud of its ramen and katsu, I made sure to order both. The Deluxe Tampopo Black Pig Shabu Ramen (PHP420) was impressive in size and taste. We split the big bowl into 4 and all of us were impressed at how flavorful it was. The broth exploded with flavor, the egg was perfectly cooked and the thinly sliced meat melted in the mouth.I also ordered the Premium Loin Katsu (PHP280) which came with deep fried tonkatsu, shredded cabbage and vegetables plus sesame seeds and sauces on the side. It was good but paled in comparison to that of Yabu or Saboten. We also had the Sui Gyoza (PHP150) with the spicy sauce served on the side on our request. It was quite ordinary. The plain rice was good but quite pricey at PHP60 per cup.House tea, served either hot or cold, is available.Because we chose to share, we were able to experience Tampopo at a fraction of a cost yet were able to taste a lot of what it has to offer.

Feeling Japanese tonight! My boyfriend ordered their Deluxe Hokkaido Ramen. When his ramen came, I was surprised that their serving is so big. What's special about this ramen was the soup's base is pork and chicken bone. The soup was tasteful but I couldn't distinguish it from other ramen. Maybe I'm just not that meticulous when it comes to ramen.I ordered their Chicken Cutlet set. The serving was overwhelming maybe because the plate was so big, it takes up most of our table. The chicken katsu was fine - nothing special. Their roasted sesame dressing has a stronger flavor compared to other katsu restos. One good thing about Tampopo is that if you want to have your rice or cabbage refilled, they'll be giving you a new bowl for it. That's way more presentable vs. one 'Japanese' fastfood we all know :)

Tampopo is one of the few ramen places that can be found in San Juan City. Because of the limited ramen offerings in a city that houses a lot of ramen fanatics, their ramen could easily satisfy the residents' ramen cravings. However, the taste of their broth, noodle and the pork cannot be compared to the likes of Ukkokei and Ramen Nagi. But on the bright side, if you cannot decide between having ramen or tonkatsu, this restaurant is your salvation because they also serve tonkatsus that could satisfy any fanatic's cravings.

I actually dined at their newly opened branch in Bonifacio High Street, but since there isn't any page for that yet, I'm posting my review here. The signage for the restaurant is a bit small so it's hard to find especially when you're coming from the direction of the stairs/ramp.I ordered their specialty, Deluxe Tampopo Black Pig Shabu Ramen. The dish is normally spicy but I asked to have them serve my order without any chili. I was a bit surprised that the ramen actually tasted pretty good! The soup broth was very juicy and tasty, and the pork strips were also very tender (they were like bacon but in broth!). I also noticed that their serving staff made an effort to remember all our orders, and which dish was ordered by who. It was an enjoyable experience eating here.
