I continue to discover new places to eat and enjoy them at the same time. Thanks to another website meet up, it wasn't just about dining, it was also meeting the creators- the chef and the owners. This time it was in San Juan located just after you cross Wilson and P. Guevarra streets. I like the name Pig Tales. Initially I thought it was tails. One of the owners Austin relates that each dish has a story. I am hoping though that this place will have its happy ever after. That customers pass on the tales to their family and friends. As the name connotes it is also all about pork. So everything served was comfort food- deep fried, sauteed, fried pork. Perhaps the most sinful one was their Mozzarella Ball. It was oozing cheese wrapped in a giant ball of bacon goodness. It was fried well and best with its marinara sauce. They also have their localized sausage. It did have a strong presence of local meat. Almost like longganisa but better. It was in a bed of seasoned potato slices. We were served two types of pasta. One felt short, the Classic Carbonara. It was bland. I got back to my food senses after trying the next one- Seafood Marinara. The tomato based sauce was made perfect with its well cooked noodles and various sea creatures. Now you gotta try their best selling Pork Slab! It was the last one I feasted on before I left. The taste lingered for a long time. The pork was tender, melt in your mouth effect. Its sauce had a strong sweet, salty, spicy vibe. It could be one of the best pork dishes I've had in awhile.

Place is nicely designed with a modern industrial feel. Being named pig tales, we wanted to order a pork main dish but both pork main dish options were not available. We settled for pasta and a burger but then after a bit they said the pig slab was available. I’m not sure what is happening but there is clearly some confusion. The burger in the menu says ⅓ pound patty but the waiter said it is actually quarter pounder because they are still reinventing. Wierd. We at least got two free iced tea. They have a promo if you check in at website you get free iced tea. Both me and my wife checked in.The pig slab was good, tender and tasty! The chicken wings was crispy and the spicy bbq sauce is good also. The bacon cheeseburger was also good and not too oily with the bacon not crispy fried but pan seared. Cheeseburger could use a bit more taste or salt. Fries with the burger was also good; it was seasoned with pepper. I’m glad food taste is okay because service wasn’t the best. Good food usually always makes up for some service misteps. I was expecting the worst after the initial problems, i actually almost walked out but i’m glad the dinner worked out.

Pig Tales is a new kid on the block with another porky concept. The same location that housed Quirky Bacon last year. This gastro-pub has a very industrialized-woody interiors that serves everything (almost) with bacon, even desserts.Mozzarella Balls. It's a giant cube of mozzarella that is baked then topped with pomodoro sauce. At first bite, you can taste the bacon, then the cheese follows with the after taste of the pomodoro sauce. It literally tasted like pizza without the bread.Sausage Platter. It is basically a bar chow, a combination of homemade sausages (hungarian & cheesedog) & mojos. The hungarian sausage has the nice, spiced, peppery finish, where as the cheesedog tasted like GOOD cheese hotdogs.Carbonara. The carbonara was a bit bland and lacks the richness of the egg. I can still taste the cream in it. It tasted more like bacon & cream than a carbonara.Seafood Marinara with a BANG. It was a perfect marinara that has the light, vegetal tomatoey goodness with an after taste of herby thyme. It was a highlight for me but they should just clean their mussels, because the beard was still intact in it.Pig Slab. BBQ glazed pork ribs served with corn cob and mashed potatoes. The ribs was soft, tender with the sweetness of the pork the finished off with their tasty bbq sauce. The corn looks charred but it doesn't have the charry taste because it was just torched, not grilled. They should've opted to just boil the corn instead of charring it using a torch that doesn't emit the 'charred, roasted' flavor from its look.Bangoes. Bacon cups with milk chocolate ganache topped with mangoes. The idea was superb, but the execution was abit fail for me. It didn't taste like a dessert, but it tasted more bacon than chocolate. A drizzle of honey or add vanilla ice cream just might do the trick.Pig Tales is one porky concept for all the bacon lovers out there. It elevated bacon as part of every dish and not just a breakfast accompaniment.#TheFoodCrawlers

Pig Tales Gastropub is a relative newcomer in the neighbourhood. The space itself is pretty small but the vibe is trendy and modern. It’s a great spot to start the night off with a happy hour, given its proximity to a ton of other cool stuff, but you don’t have to leave this place to have an amazing time. It’s also a nice place to meet people or just take down cocktails, like their Cuba Libre, Black Russian, Orange Blossom, and Kamikaze, and bar eats like mozzarella balls, sausage platter, seafood marinara with a bang, and an excellent pork barbecue ribs, they call 'The Pig Slab'.This review is just for the food and ambience (we didn't have any drinks there tonight). Sausage Platter - (Homemade Hungarian and Cheese sausages served wih Mojos plus mustard and garlic mayo dips) This dish is simple, unpretentious, but packs a lot of punch. If there's one thing that makes a sausage great, it's fat. I liked that the pork inside was speckled with tiny morsels of fat, aiding to its juicy and unctuous qualities. The mojos were roasted to perfection and paired well with the dipping sauces.Seafood Marinara with a Bang (topped with bacon bits) - The seafood was succulent and tender and the taste of the ocean really came through. The pasta was cooked to be firm to the bite (al dente) and the marinara sauce was seasoned well. Pig Slab - Now this dish is where the money is. I enjoy tender, juicy, succulent meat that requires very little effort to pry from the bone. Pig Tales' Pig Slab is exactly that. They came out so tender that a mere push of the fork could separate the meat. For Php400, I thought this dish was truly VALUE FOR MONEY.Carbonara - It was too bland for me and the sauce was sightly watered down. This dish was my least favourite of the bunch.Bangoes (Bacon stuffed with fresh ripe mangoes finished off with a chocolate ganache). - The flavour profile was there, but it still lacked the decadence and richness of a dessert, in my opinion.Overall, I really enjoyed the food here. I will be returning for sure to sample their cocktails. Pig Tales Gastropub proves to be yet another reason to stay in this neighborhood past happy hour. Check them out if you are in area. Many thanks to the owners of Pig Tales Gastropub for hosting me.#TheFoodCrawlers

Worth the money! Ambience is really nice. I don't think I ate that much but my tummy was so full. Waiters are friendly and service is really good. It doesn't have that so big space inside but the parking area is not a problem.

This is probably one of the restaurants I regularly go to. Not only does the place look great, but the food as well. I mean, who doesn't like, scratch that, LOVE Bacon?!Since I'm a regular here, I have tried a lot of their dishes already.Lets start off with their appetizers, believe me, I am not a fan of vegetables, but their caesar salad makes an exception (sometimes I would go here and just eat caesar salad, and that's coming from a meat eater). Next, you should try their Mozzarella Balls, it is melted mozarella balls wrapped in bacon, this may sound like a commercial, but every bite explodes inside your mouth.Next, main course, I have three recommendations in their main serving, when it's for sharing, I would recommend their Bagnet and Pig's Slab. Their Bagnet is served crispy(and i mean CRISPY) along with sarsa and pinakurat (a.k.a. Sukang Ilocano). While their Pig's Slab is served in zesty barbecue sauce and corn cobs. Just match this with rice (or not) and you're good to go. If you don't want to share and you want to eat alone, I would recommend their Bacon Cheese Burger, it's a classic and you get to choose the doneness of your meat. Match all of these with their house blend iced tea and you're full as a pig. ;)Lastly, their desserts, you have 2 options, if you still want bacon and you're feeling adventurous, try their bangoes, mangoes wrapped in bacon with chocolate ganache, this sounds weird, but it's actually good. And if you're feeling loaded with bacon and you want a bacon-free dessert, they have Nutella Waffles, Nutella in between the waffle tower topped with Vanilla Ice Cream, besides Bacon, who doesn't love Nutella? :)Overall, this is a chill place, with good food, and awesome service where you can chill with friends (they have alcohol too if you're a drinker). And it's worth a try. Highly recommended! :)

Pig Tales is indeed a 5 star for me because they serve great food, their servers were very attentive, and the cozy ambiance is a plus for me. Thier food is usually good for two persons at the same time their prices are affordable. Pig Slab is a must try. I love the food so much.

The whole place has this classy yuppie vibe to it!! Once inside, the place is really hip yet comfortable. It's small so asking for service is not that hard either. On the contrary the staff were really attentive and polite and humorous! And the owner was there as well he serves one of the dishes himself. The food was superb really not your usual thing on the menus. The range was a bit pricey though? Hopefully we could see some new food for the menus and more cocktail bar choices!! Will be back for their amazing mozzarella and Kofka balls!!
