I've always enjoyed waffles, it's comfort food at its purest form. And nobody does waffles like Pegi Waffles. Classic Belgian-style waffles that warms the palate and the soul. The thick and soft Brussels waffle, the round and mildly sweet Liege waffle, the thin Gaufrette, it's all here at Pegi Waffles.  The Eggs Benedict (P 250), with the Brussels waffle topped with maple-smoked ham and delicately poached egg draped with hollandaise sauce is a personal favorite, with the thick Brussels waffle pairing well with savory toppings for a satisfying and comforting meal any time of day. For heftier appetites, go for Pegi Waffles' Euro Chicken & Waffle (P 340), it's comfort food and soul food in one dish. The crisp and juicy buttermilk fried chicken with mushroom gravy and herbs pair well with the Brussels waffle for another satisfying dish. But there's more to Pegi Waffles than just waffles. Other must-try dishes include the Wagyu Beef Salpicao (P 395) served with rice or pasta and a side salad, the rustic Lasagna (P 260) in beef, salmon or spinach, and the new Spaghetti ala Vongole (P 260) with clams. Inside Pegi Waffles, one feels so much at home with their cozy vibe, in fact, it almost feels like dining in your favorite aunt's place, the perfect setting for a comforting meal. But it's the waffles that make you come back again and again. Brussels, Liege, or Gaufrette, take your pick, It's all here at Pegi Waffles.

I've passed by Pegi Waffles, I think, twice since I moved to Quezon City. To be honest, I had no idea about them: that they're actually the supplier of the Belgian waffles at Starbucks, which people have grown to love over the years. Whenever I'd see the place, it reminded me a little bit of another bakery cafe, I guess because of the blue and they're both, you know, the dainty and quaint types. The interiors feels both cozy, comfortable and modern, appears polished without being intimidating. Especially loved the touches of gray and the striped pattern on the couches. It's like one of those hidden cafes that you discover where you can imagine yourself finding a perfect spot to spend an entire afternoon either to hangout with friends or to finish all the things you need to blog (well, in my case). I'm not sure if they have Wi-Fi though, I forgot to ask. There's ample lighting inside the cafe, and yes, Instagram-worthy.And though it bears a breakfast staple (or dessert, whichever you prefer) on its name, Pegi Waffles serves so much more than that. They were really generous as we were served appetizers and we were able to order our food of choice for main course. We were quite a big group that day so there was so much food. I was able to had a bite or two of practically everything that was served but I think I'll note here those that were standouts. We were in for a big treat! The Scones made me feel like all dignified (LOLJK) but, seriously, it was really the best! It was soft, a tiny bit crumbly and tasted buttery on its own. The combination of the clotted cream and marmalade was a tickle to the palate! I absolutely recommend it. Best served with tea! The Tuna Melt is a runner-up. The generous filling of tuna chunks and the cheesy goodness made it my second favorite from the appetizers. My top picks are: Salmon Lasagna. I've always preferred cream-based pasta than the oil and tomato ones. One mistake I've made is not to ask how huge each serving is, and was met with a huge platter that can stuff two to three people. I loved how there were hefty salmon meat with lots of flavor. The pasta was soft and the cream was a tad overwhelming, but everything still works for me. Wagyu Beef Salpicao. I think everyone agreed this is one of the best dishes we had that day. The beef was oh-so tender and packed with flavor. That right there is premium beef, both by its texture and taste. It was a really satisfying meal that I enjoyed. And lastly, the Chicken Ala Kiev. First time I've heard of this recipe (it was also a new entree on the menu) and was surprised by how it tasted. It looked like cordon bleu, but when you slice it, there's this oil/sauce that comes out adding more depth to the flavor of the chicken.Pegi Waffles is synonymous to the best waffles in town and also so much more! I felt that the dishes they serve are well thought of and excellent in quality. I wouldn't mind spending extra for food as delicious as these. I highly recommend this place. I'm definitely getting another bag of scones and waffles next time! And if you're in San Juan, please do pay them a visit. You won't be sorry! :)

For those who had a very packed workweek like me and looks forward to a weekend of comfort-filled meal..this place is for you. Had a very pleasant dining experience. It was a perfect combination of a visually and taste satisfying food, good service plus a cozy ambience that will make you come back. The prices are also reasonable. For the savory waffle, we tried the eggs benedict while for the sweet one, had the blueberry liege waffle. Both are equally good. Other products tried: poached apple salad - has a cinnamony blend flavor not too sweet but could have added walnut for some crunch, cordon bleu - from the very clean plate of my son am sure he enjoyed this meal, canadian bacon rice meal for moi (they serve all day brekkies and I soooo love it).

I like the afternoon tea package for 190php. It comes with a pot of tea, 2 buttered scones with jam and clotted cream. I love their scones which are quite hard to fine.

After trying out Pegi waffles, I learned that there are two types of waffles. Brussels-style and Liege-style waffles. Brussels-style waffles are those rectangular shaped ones that have light and fluffy texture. It pairs really well with savory options like sausage, egg and the like. On the other hand, Liege-style waffles are those unevenly shaped ones that have crispier, denser, and chewier texture. This style goes better with sweet toppings like fruits, ice cream and syrups.I suggest that you go for their Eggs Benedict when you feel like eating something savory. The dish is composed of ham, topped with a poached egg, drizzled with creamy hollandaise sauce, on a light and fluffy waffle. If you're craving for something sweet, try the Pegi Classic. A sweet and crispy waffle topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup.
