There is no menu given that they provide freshest local produce of the day/weekend (yes, Bahay Kubo is open just from Friday to Sunday). Simplest solution to describe the eating encounter: Island life fulfills European fine dining. Certainly a must-attempt in Samal Island.

Very warm welcome with respect to a good gentleman: Alphonse..... he graduated in Hotel Administration and has lengthy experience. Certainly he knows vey nicely how should deal with a guest. In case you are in Samal Island and searching for nice foods you have just onechoice: The Bahay Kubo Cafe. " I am your menus," Alphonse will state before getting your purchase. He explains the menus very well at length and customizes the cooking food as you wish. Believe in him for purchasing, he knows what ought to be served. The restaurant is quite beautiful and thoroughly clean. Alphonse demonstrated me your kitchen, fridge, and freezer which are actually organized and CLEAN. Cooking food isn't Alphonse jo... it really is his passion and really like. He just cooks on Fri, Sunday & Saturday. We really enjoyed so we returned the next day to Island and then enjoy Alphonse cooking. After lunch time, we enjoyed communicating with Alphonse for one hour and realized he's got deep understanding of the and various countries and cultures. Hope have possiblity to come back again. Thank you chef.

I am a relatively brand new resident of Samal Island, creating a home in Penaplata which we moved into regarding six weeks hence. Samal supplies a great selection of fresh garden create so we usually fend for ourselves. Nevertheless, after a tough 7 days I made the decision totake my builder and his spouse to dinner. My beautiful Filipina wife is aside for a couple days for attending family issues. I googled "Dining places on Samal" and discovered a stand out eating place called Bahay Kubo (which means 'bamboo hut' in Tagalog). Lower and behold, the map pointed out that it had been also located in Penaplata. We duly attained the cafe to become warmly welcomed by the proprietor/chef/maitre de/barman/cashier Alfonse. Alfonse described that the eating place was of the great dining kind, and that the menus was limited by a fifty percent dozen starters . 5 dozen mains with one primary on unique which he changed every week to split up the monotony. Okay, great up to now. He described each dish with excellent enthusiasm which reinforced my belief that man actually loved his chosen occupation. I settled for the crazy boar pate while my companions purchased the tuna sashimi and the penne arrabbiata. The pate has been along with a sliced baguette and some salad plus a red-colored currant jelly. Lovely. I furthermore tried the penne (furthermore superb) and the sashimi. The sauce of the sashimi included the standard soy and wasabe mustard and also other components and the dish had been sublime. I'll likely order it the next time. For the primary course the girl ordered the poultry and my builder and I both purchased the special of your day, the pork stew. The meats was tender without having to be overcooked, very delicious and was associated with an array of veggies which includes diced turnip and Swiss (Alfonse will be orignally Swiss) mashed potato. Overall, the meals was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent and the eye to fine detail of Mr. Menus was superb. One of the top dining places in the Philippines.

Bahay Kubo is open up on weekends (Fri, Sat and Sun I really believe and serves lunch time and supper) and we we're luckily enough to have supper on this put on a Sunday. Certainly a must try cafe when in Samal Island. Chef Alphonse's Bahay Kubois just amazing. Superb foods matched with the relaxing atmosphere of the area. Don't keep the island without attempting Bahay Kubo.

Experienced the privilege of frequently for the past a decade enjoying delicious meals within this jewel of dining places. From me it will get 4 out of no more than 3 amount of michelin stars. Not merely the meals is the greatest imaginable but additionally thesmall personal "boutique" environment with the flawlessly adapted classical music (frequently baroque songs that for me personally as a specialist musician is ideal as soft vocals) which produces a wonderfully slow paced life as Alfonce sometimes watches to 1 with humorous anecdotes and good, balanced and professional support as a learn chef that just he can do. And when you have small kids with you, it will go effectively. Alfonce treats them like princes and princesses who, needless to say, obtain custom food first. Anything you perform at Samal, check out this restaurant (open just Fri, Saturday and Sunday) and you may have an encounter you won't ever forget.

Switched away at lunchtime simply by huge fat man without shirt. They just have room for 4 guests. Said to be good dining? You're kidding.
