Follow me on Instagram: @astro.adin If you're looking for a good burger with a cheap price tag, Tropical Hut is the place to be. Their burgers are really good specially the patty. Our parents and generations before them love it even before Jollibee became a big player. Their Classic Burger is just so awesome you will crave for it over and over again. Then on your next stop double the patty with their Double Classic burger. Their Hawaiian Glee is also a bombshell. This burger is always available unlike Jollibee's Aloha Burger which is only seasonal. Burgerwise they are ahead of Jollibee for me (even most Burger joints) but when it comes to its spaghetti, I find it below par. It lacks taste if you're expecting a fastfood pasta. Their chicken on the other hand is just at par with McDonald's. It doesn't stand-out but still good. My suggestion is that you request the patty to be well done since most of the time it's undercooked and patty fall-off and gets messy.

This is what I call my comfort food. Everytime I go to National Bookstore at Crossings, I see to it that I dine in or order for a to go meal. Spaghetti and Ranchero, always.

If you have been reading our Where to EAT contents you would somehow understand the Fat Girls Day Out crew’s fondness of the Classic & Staple. Heck! we actually created a monthly series of five (5) food establishments that are worth highlighting over and over again. Bianca and I grew up the late 80’s and the glorious 90’s- The era when all these crazy fusion-centric food ethos is non-existent. The good old days when the primary goal is to make good tasting food over aesthetics. We want to give homage to the OG- of the Pinoy fast food playground. The almighty Tropical Hut Hamburger.

There are 3 reasons why I keep eating at Tropical Hut whenever I have a chance: One, nostalgia. While others had their childhood defined by Jollibee, I have fond memories of Tropical Hut. Two, unpretentious, affordable, yet surprisingly good burger. Specifically, the Sili Burger which is my Reason #3. The patty isn't dry and hard to swallow. The "sili" component, while it doesn't pass my Bicolano-influenced criteria on what is spicy or not, nonetheless adds a dimension of flavor absent in any other burger available in the country.

The Classic Burger is big and juicy, it has it's own distinctive taste...very Filipino. But, the place needs to be renovated because it's old and dreary.

Tropical Hut is a place staple where most old villains from the action films of Fernando Poe hang out. They have good portions of chicken served but the one we usually go back for is their breakfast menu. My mom loves their ham and eggs as the eggs were not too dry and well cooked. I usually take out one then bring it to my mom's office. There are very few people who come here so this is also a good place to hold quick meetings to discuss over a cup of coffee or a plate of pasta.

Old classic; there's something about the run-down appearance of Tropical Hut stores that ironically keeps it evergreen. It's comforting to hang out in the same style interior that they've had since I was a kid. Maybe they should try to apply for a "trade dress", like In & Out in the US. This place in particular attracts seniors and grown-up 80's kids alike, that's why it's always packed. Plus, it being attached to a grocery from the heyday of Glory and Hi-Top also helps too. I always have the Quick Fried Beef and slather it with mustard, another attraction for me. This chain is one of the few that actually have mustard.

though they don't have burgers prepared they prepare quickly 5-8 minutes. burgers have appeal because of the novelty of the past and the "filipino taste" but I think the patties could use some more taste.

I visited their branch at munoz and tried bistek and sago at gulaman. The bistek is so tasty, I liked how sour it is and the sagot gulaman is sweet, just right sweetness
