My first kiss… Okay, it was my second… with The Chocolate Kiss that is.I still remember what I ordered when I first visited The Chocolate Kiss—their famous Devil’s Food Cake (slice: PHP70; whole: PHP700) with all of the gooey marshmallow goodness. It was really good. It deserves to be the café’s bestseller. Moist and flavorful yet you won’t easily get tired of it. It wasn’t very sweet either but still pleases the palate of a sugar-craving website.Since I don’t like ordering the same thing twice, I ordered something different when I “accidentally” visited it last week (we were supposed to go on a picnic but Mother Nature was in a bad mood that day). I ordered Dayap Chiffon Cake (slice: PHP85; whole: PHP950) since the server told us that it is one of their best sellers. My friends ordered the Devil’s Food Cake and Carrot Cake (slice: PHP80; whole: PHP800).Yey!!! The cakes have arrived. Happy… uh… day.I was pretty disappointed that they did not serve the cakes nicely for picture taking purposes. Oh well… cake is still cake. Now to taste the #2 (or was it #3?) best selling cake…The Dayap Chiffon cake is… not something I will order again. I guess I am not fond of citrus cakes. It reminds me of cough syrup for some reason. Then again if you like dishes with a bit of tangy taste, then this is a must try.The carrot cake on the other hand was nothing spectacular. It was moist and good but it is at par with the other carrot cakes I’ve tried before. After having our desserts and on our way to have lunch (yes, we sometimes eat that way), I realized that I have never tried their savory dishes. I now have an instant reason to go back (and try the cheesecakes).

While Chocolate Kiss is situated within the university and it's close to our college, I really haven't had many chances to dine there when I was still a student because of my budget. I remember that yuppies, faculty and "rich kids" (as they would be called) were often seen hanging out. Or, whenever we needed tokens of appreciation for guest speakers, a cake from Chocolate Kiss was usually on the list. What I'm trying to say is that it is considered a special place where friends can reunite over cakes and coffee, where teachers and former students can sit down and make kamustahan over a sumptuous lunch or dinner, and where joggers can cheat with a calorie-loaded breakfast after several rounds at the acad oval! Negative feedback is rare, if not non-existent. I love all their stuff.

I've eaten here at the Chocolate Kiss so many times (with family and friends; after a class back in College, after jogging; for breakfast, lunch or dinner), and each moment brings back happy memories 😊My usual order in this restaurant is their Carbonara, partnered with unlimited iced tea that's served with a small carafe of honey. Their iced tea has a very particular taste which I really love (and miss). I've also tasted their Devil's Food Cake and Chocolate Chip Cheesecake,!which are a couple of their best desserts. I remember an experience when a friend and I dined here, and there was someone playing the piano at the second floor. Very cozy and relaxing. Another time, my family and I had coffee here and I ordered a cup of brewed coffee. It wasn't refillable as per the menu, but I still checked with the waiter if it's possible to have a second cup for free. Fortunately, he granted to serve me another complimentary cup 😁👍🏼Service is good. Most of their staff are bulky guys who are generally pleasant to customers 💪🏼🙃

I was curious about the devil's cake. So I did went here and tried. Its an average cake. Its a sponge cake that is so dey with icong made or cream cheese. Their coffe is blunt and soea not compliment any of their cakes. But kudos to their pasta. That I cannot deny that it tastes good. Tends to be salty for their carbonara but its fine with me. It's how I like it. Their lasagna is a must try. For only 500php you can have a meal for two. And take note that their staff are all hunks- much more like a bouncer in a club.

The food are not so good or nothing is really special. I got very disappointed with their employees as they are not accommodating. We requested the refill of our iced tea but it takes us like 4x to follow-up :( the price are also not worth the food.
