My friend and I ordered the Pesto with Anchovies and sun dried tomato and buttermilk pancake batter x banana slices and this has been the best decision of my life so far, kidding aside until now I still haven't found a pesto so good as theirs. It was the best pesto I've tasted so far (still in the search for a better one).It was fun drawing while cooking pancakes but of course we're not pros. I enjoyed our experience here and the crews are also ok. It was pricey but it's all for quality and it is sure worth it! :)

Service is top notch. They entertained me even if it was 10 mins before closing. The staff were attentive and were quick to offer condiments / water / etc even before i asked.. I order blueberry milkshake and tapa. The milkshake was heavenly! It was thick and creamy and not too sweet! I also liked their tapa. Love this place!

I'm so disappointed to try their DIY Chicken Steak (320). Have you ever had that feeling of being fooled of ordering due to waiter's insisting of "in demand" choice from their menu, and of course it look well in the photo so you ended up biting the trap. I just hate restaurants having a nice photo to catch people's eye and have the exact opposite when it you see it in actual. The chicken does not deserve to be called steak in the first place, the taste is so ordinary and the size is so small. There is in fact a big bone which made it less meat left. Same goes with our second order of Honey Glazed Porkchop (220). At first I thought it was big enough , only to find out there's also a big bone and again less meat to indulge. This place is just so disappointing together with its insane NON WORTHY expensive price range. The only reason I'm giving this place a 2.5 instead of 1, is merely because of the accommodating staff and nice interior. We totally did not get what we paid for. For that amount, we would have enjoyed eating in less expensive restaurants or even with the same level of price range but get satisfyingly full, or perhaps a nice Papa John's pizza.

This is such a fun resto especially when you're with your kids. You would all enjoy designing and cooking your pancakes at the same time. Step 1: Pick the batter (buttermilk)Step 2: Pick the topping (blueberries, lemon curd)Step 3: Design and cook your pancakesStep 4: Place either butter or maple syrupStep 5: Food porn! before eating :) Enjoy!!!

"Create/make-your-own" food is really hyped nowadays. Indeed it's a good attention grabber for people who are looking for something new to eat. Slappy cakes is one of those food chains today who offers that kind of attraction. I really wanted to try the make your own pancakes because I think it's gonna be fun and you get the chance to put anything you want to put on your pancakes. So it was the 3 of us who went there. And i was really excited. The place is nice.. Guests who wants to have the make your own pancake has different tables with griddle than those who just want to have all carte food. I'm a bit surprised because the make your own pancake is a bit pricey. From the batter itself which is I think is just 250ml and can only create 4-5 regular size pancakes plus the fixins and the toppings. Of course one fixin is not enough to satisfy your appetite and for the excitement brought about the thought of having the chance to put what you want on your pancake. If you want to make more pancakes you have to pay another 250ml batter. To sum all up... 5 pieces of pancakes with blueberry, banana and nutella with 3 soft drinks costs like around Php 1,500-2,000. I was just thinking is the price really worth the food we ate? Compared to other restos .. No hassle you just order and wait for your food to be served yet it's cheaper and you are more satisfied and full after. Well, I assumed na lang that the half of what we paid is the experience of making our own pancakes which I can do naman at home. So my verdict is 2.5...though I did enjoy making my pancakes. :) in

Happy to know that there are now more stores offering all day breakfast. After trying lucca Bakeshop at UP town plaza yesterday, my cravings for breakfast foods is not yet over. While waiting for my next meeting, I saw slappycakes at SM north EDSA and was a bit curious of what they offer. I was welcomed by a courteous and smiling crew and generously briefed me of their specialties. She recommended the hot pot roast beef. I asked for the menu and saw the pancake stuff, "make your own". My child instinct urged me to try, so I did go for the red velvet cupcake with bacon bits toppings. Honestly, my experience was so fun and will definitely go back with my wife and daughter. For sure they will like and love it. Overall rate was IMPRESSIVE!

This place is perfect for those who like to play a little with their food and do it yourself. A little something for breakfast food lovers out there coz their food choices are mostly breakfast. I like how I am the one who can cook my own pancakes right in front of me heheh.

It's a place where you can DIY a pancake (minus the prep work!) right on your table. Bring your kids and they'll surely have fun as much as the grownups do! The whole experience is something that you can't get elsewhere.Buttermilk Batter - 3.5/5Toppings, syrup, sauces - 3.5/5Service - 4/5Ambience - 4/5

The place was bright with their orange and wood scheme. We were seated at a booth with a covered skillet and ordered pretty quickly since we had only one hour to spare. Waiting time gave us a chance to re-think our orders though. The maple and mango syrups plus the array of cooking wares displayed on our table invited us enough. We decided it was taboo to come to Slappy Cakes and not try what they're famous for: Their make-it-your-own pancakes. So we asked the friendly crew to wrap up my sister's original choice, Mom's Chicken Stew (₱290) which she said later on tasted okay, for takeout instead. Then we readily agreed on having Buttermilk Pancakes with Bacon (₱305). Oooh. You can choose from their various batters (buttermilk, whole grain, peanut butter, vegan, chocolate) and fixins/toppings (i.e., chocolate chips, fruits, mushrooms, sausages, whipped cream) to personalize your cakes. In retrospect, we should have been more creative and made all kinds of shapes with the easy-squeeze bottled batter. Anyway, we had a blast making and of course, eating them! My only comment is that the buttermilk batter was a bit salty for my taste. We also shared a plate of Pork Belly Benedict (₱350) which is two poached eggs over pork belly and a couple of small disk pancakes topped with lovely Hollandaise sauce served with baked potato chunks. We love this version of eggs benny. Though I wish their pork belly had less strip of fat.Ate had the Cranberry Cooler (₱190). The slight bitterness from the grapefruit and tang from the cranberry cuts through the savory dishes. Very refreshing. The make-it-your-own slappy cake experience was definitely the highlight of our day. We'd like to go back and play with our food more. For more blogs, visit us @fayeandmartha.blogspot.com :)
