Although we obviously enjoy writing about new and upcoming fine dining restaurants, I would have to confess that we miss writing more whole-in-the-wall restaurants. Something that will really make a reader say "Wow! I didn't know there was a restaurant like this in this area!" There's a whole different level of pleasure in sharing those types of restaurants.

I would have rated rid place higher for their food but the place has a smell of either ipis or a rag that has not been washed. Had their salted egg fried chicken. Taste was good but dripping in oil. The wanton noodle soup was a generous serving.

What we ordered:☑️Lechon Macau Rice☑️Sweet and Sour Fish Rice☑️Fish Fillet Cream Corn ☑️Pata Bihon ☑️Lemon Chicken RiceIf you're craving for authentic chinese food, this is the place to be!The food was really good especially the pata bihon. It was sweet and the pork was so soft. The sweet and sour fish was okay. The taste was similar to chowking's. The Fish Fillet Cream Corn was something new to me and it definitely did not disappoint. The serving of the Lechon Macau was small and it didn't complement the sauce that comes with it. The Lemon Chicken was meh but it's only because I'm not a fan of the food in general.

I don't know how much longer this place can last. We went last Saturday night when it should have been full of people. We could see why it was empty.. Sitting at our table it smelt like there was a dead horse rotting under the floor.. There was zero ambiance , not even light music. Oh and did I mention the smell?Anyway we said to ourselves that sure the actual sitting area is terrible but probably the cook is some kind of culinary genius. But No ! Our food was really horrible..Tough and rubbery in the mouth and 100% flavorless. We would have done better to suck on our slippers.Anyway we note there are some average reviews here for them and I would say those reviewers are being kind and generous. We tried this place so that you don't have to

Shifu's location is a bit away from the hustle and bustle part of the metro but it's worth the try. You'll gonna love their beef and brocolli, fish fillet garlic, and their fried wanton.Their menu price was suprisingly lesser than the Chinese restaurants I have known yet the taste is just as lovable.

Shifu is a great place to find affordable chinese food. Their menu choices include many chinese comfort food that will satisfy your appetite. A great go to place if you decide not to eat at home but still want home cooked style food. The place is simply decorated and service is okay.Shifu actually took over the business of Happy Valley restaurant and mantained the staff; thus mantaining the good food that Happy Valley used to serve. I used to eat at Happy Valley also and was surprised to see the same staff serving us when we tried Shifu.

Kung Fu Kitchen is a hole in the wall along gilmore ave. A Chinese restaurant that serves simple comfort food that highlights our favorites. I got my all time favorite Chinese dish, sweet and sour pork. The pork was cooked tender and was served with large chunks of pineapple, white onion, and bell peppers. The sauce has a balance of sweet and sour, nothing over on either side of the plane. Cheap, Chinese comfort food after a day in the office is a nice reward to the full days work.

Food: They mean it when they say their specialty is Lechon Macau. The pork was both crispy and soft. Very flavorful. Their mapo tofu is also one of the best we've eaten, with soft tofu and the sauce with just the right kick. Our only problem is the siomai. The menu said HUGE! but it was just the usual size. Masarap. Just, we had our hopes up with the size hehe.Place: Typical Chinese resto. Yung pagpasok mo, no frills. So alam mong masarap yung food. Haha. (Minsan though, yung no frills yun rin yung blech yung lasa. But most of the time, the no frills places turn out to serve the yummiest of Chinese food.)Serving time: quick. Servers: polite :)Lastly, limited parking space :(

Looking for a good Cantonese Restaurant in the area of San Juan? Try Master Shifu! We ordered their specialty Lechon Macau, Pata Bihon, Siopao Bola Bola, Lemon Chicken, Polonchay in GarlicLechon Macau is a golden crispy pork. Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Pata Bihon is a noodles with sweetened sauce from pork leg. It is a simple dish that would be fine with other food pairing. This is a safe pick to order and amazingly it has a big serving good for 3-4 person.Siopao Bola Bola flavor is a three steam bun with pork mixture inside. I just find it small in serving. I was expecting a bigger size to fulfill my craving for one.Lemon Chicken was fine chicken with a lemon coating. Nothing special though.Polonchay in garlic is a vegetable leaves, century egg, slated egg and tofu in garlic. You can taste every topping differently.
