Must try breakfast place in the neighborhood. Their cake selection is very unique especially the table one. Great ambiance as well! Even if you're inside the big glass windows frame the landscape perfectly. Feels like home. And... Free coffee in the morning!

While the Tagalog hegemony continues to be of its imperial influence in our national politics, the culinary traditions among the Tagalogs have been, in one way or another, colonized by the American flavor. The knack for the fried and products that short cut the stages of food preparation in favor of the instant and the mass produce have gradually eroded the culinary tenacity of the same racial community who has been at the forefront of the Katipunan revolution. Gladly, with the booming restaurant business, as people look for the organic, others would salivate on the vernacular, Santiago successfully rides on these developments. Their puto melds perfectly with the dinuguan which both create a convergence on one's tongue, and in turn, the vinegar of the dinguan allows the cheese of the puto blossom in the midst of sourness. The signature barako coffee of Batangas is served as well with generosity as they offer an unlimited pour to one's cup. The cup of barako is also accented by a square-sized biscocho, which reminds me of the humble baking tradition in the sleepy towns of Batangas such as Rosario, Taysan, and Padre Garcia. However, what becomes the difficulty with Santiago are times in which the puto could not be available, even ice for water, and other selections in the menu. It is dispiriting for a person travelling to a Tagalog fortress like Santiago not having the very delicacies it is proud to offer.

This my first review of a restaurant but just had to put in writing the service here is not good. The food was served without any servicing spoon. The kare kareMeat was very hard and hardly any vegetable. They served the lumpia ubod without the sauce. We had to ask for the sauce. We asked do you have any tea they said twinnings i asked what flavor basta twinnings. They went back bringing the sachets. I hope they do something about it.

The food is overrated...and it's expensive compared to it's founder, Ineng's. The only difference is the ambiance, it caters to the upper class.

Food - Except for the Chicken in coconut milk with lemon grass, everything else were just ok. Suman tastes literally like sticky rice chunk together. Bland. They don't serve additional soup for the bulalo. The meat still needs to be tenderized more.Service - The waitress initially told us that everything is easy to serve in case we decide to make additional orders. When we ordered additional 2 cups of plain rice, I had to make several follow-ups until we requested for its cancellation. Same thing when we requested for water. The restaurant was not even fully booked at that time. We ordered slices of cake. I had to keep coming back to the counter to request for the already sliced cakes to be served. I was already tempted to get the cakes myself. The manager called on another waitress to serve the cakes. When I came back, the cake slices were still there. We requested to clean up our table so we can have our dessert and for the leftovers to be packed for takeout. The waiter did not clean up and not all leftovers were taken. I also had to keep coming back for our bill. Seems they have served everyone else besides us. I asked them to make some corrections on the bill because of the 2 cups of rice. It took them long. So I stood in front of the cashier already for them to prioritize our bill. Unfortunately, they still prioritized another guest. They gave me the bill for my parents to sign. They did not even bother to be the ones to go to our table and wait for the signed receipt. I was the one who had to bring them back the receipt. The manager did not even make an offer as well. I expected better from them.
