Ever since I saw a post claiming that a quaint restaurant along Maginhawa serves the best churros in town, I’ve been itching to go back to Maginhawa to try it myself. I’ve always been in love with Dulcinea’s churros and I wondered if I’ll have an affair with a new one. We were still in our “Invade Maginhawa” mode but it was almost 5PM then. We didn’t care if our tummies were about to explode. We just have to check this place out.I was determined to just order the churros as I was really stuffed. But standing in front of the other pastries all whispering, “Eat me!” did not help at all. I ended up ordering one piece of éclair and cream puff to go with my Churros con Chocolate. It was a sweet trio! The éclair was nothing special for me. The hardened chocolate was not even chocolatey. I liked the cream though as it was smooth and not very sweet. The cream puff on the other hand was a bit hard. The melted sugar also tasted a little burnt. Then again, the cream saved it and created a great contrast of flavors from the slight bitterness of the sugar (how ironic) and the sweet cream. Now for the churros that made me drool for a long time… Odd enough, it wasn’t as spectacular as I thought it would be. Basing it on the write-ups I’ve read before, I was expecting that it’d be GREAAAAT with a :D but it was just great churros. (Okay, I don’t think I’m making any sense here.)The chocolate was rich and undeniably oh so chocolatey but it was not far (or even different) from Dulcinea’s. Even the churros itself was quite the same. My website friends told me though that the chocolate of Sancho is better as it seemed to be darker and richer but they’d still go with Dulcinea for the churros.Nonetheless, I’m still interested to try Sancho’s savory dishes and its cakes.

Went here to cap of a website day with desserts. Our main motivation is to try their version of churros which is gaining continuous popularity. Churros Con Chocolat here is only Php 88. After trying the more creative versions of La Lola and Mr. Churros, this one was a mile away difference. It's pale, oily and too ordinary. The chocolate though was promising with a nice bittersweet taste. We had more chocolate on their Chocolate de Leche. Forgettable though with its weak taste. The wow factor is so not present with this one. We should have gotten their Brazo de Mercedes. They have full Spanish menu. Looking forward to explore the next time around.

Thank God for Sancho! There's definitely a need for this type of cuisine in Maginhawa. Sometimes it gets frustrating driving along this street and all you see are restos serving burgers, ribs and pasta. We usually get the Sopa de mariscos, marinara pasta, salpicao and spanish beef stew.
