I wish I knew about this place a long time ago. The space inside is perfect if you need to study, read a book or get some work done. They offer an array of tea, coffee, and pastries for purchase.I've to say that the pastries we tried have all been pretty good! The Chocolate Yogurt Cake was moist and the texture just right, while the Dark Choco Chunk Cookie provided a burst of sweetness. I wasn't too crazy about the Spiced Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Loaf. I thought it lacked any pumpkin spice flavour.I would highly recommend this place for anyone who likes to work in a public place and still be able to focus. Will definitely come back for their 20-hour Cold Brew coffee and delicious Panna Cotta.

Respite is in a fast-growing area of Mother Ignacia, right across St. Mary's College. The menu is compact, their kitchen is open, basically just for baking their cakes and chunky cookies. It is cool, hip, and yet homey; quirky vintage touches in the decor do a lot for the place, which is relaxing and quiet. A hot, French pressed coffee from Mt. Apo was my first sampling ever, and it was good. We had sampled a 20hr cold brew, but I didn't probe them about the method; I've had an excellent cold brew over at Coffee Empire that bloomed with many distinct aromas; this didn't.I haven't had time to revise my opinion on their third wave coffee, but I'm bumping up my rating for their cakes and cookies. There is a lot to have and enjoy. Their chunky chocolate cookies stand out by a mile. I'm not a big cookie fan, but these deserve your undivided attention. Served warm, the chocolate chunks melting, they are slightly chewy, buttery, chocolatey. They've also corrected the sweetness on their cakes, like their carrot and pumpkin cake, which is just so good. These two ingredients together make a great combination; cake is naturally moist and sweet to the right point. My absolute favorite has to be the P90 apple caramel muffin, with chunky apples and a touch of cinnamon. It should be served as a big cake for tea, it is so nice! It went swell with my matcha latte. Great addition to this neighborhood, this. The old-timers will miss Mrs Howard's, but I feel this new cafe is a worthy heir. Be patient with the ongoing roadworks in front of St Mary's and the five-way intersection, and perhaps avoid the 4 p.m. rush. Other than that, it's a great time.[Revised November 2016]

Its been a habit or a trend lately for me to go to two places. Meaning dessert or coffee elsewhere after lunch or dinner. After a wonderful dining experience at Frazzled, we had a follow through here. Its a third wave coffee place serving cold brew and interesting desserts. Go for their Choco Chunk Cookie. Its good gooey with a nice combination of sweet and bitter touch. Its great enough to have it everyday. The two other desserts we had could be better though.They have also have personalize service especially when the young owners are around.

After a stressful day or problematic week, many people find respite in food, and I am one of them. I'm glad to have discovered this place thanks to some friends! It has nice interiors, decor, and of course, coffee and some sweet treats. I tried their iced latte, and even though it didn't have sugar (I believe you can ask for some), I found it good enough. It isn't the best latte I've tasted, but I love its smoothness. I think most of their drinks lack the distinct aroma of coffee, but hey, it's a good respite nonetheless. They have excellent dark chocolate cookies and a really refreshing take on a panna cotta-like dessert, I'm sorry I forgot what it's called, but it had mango pieces, and it's really good! :)

I just love restaurants with artsy feel in it. Respite, with the very cool logo, is known for its 20 hr cold brew, and sadly was not able to taste it since they were out of stock due to an event.Though the unfortunate event, their revel cake is AMAZING. I love how zesty it is and how it melts in your mouth.Their americano taste a lot like Yardstick's, only because the owner studied in the said restaurant but nevertheless, i love yardstick and I can't wait to taste that 20hr cold brew that my dear partner speaks highly of!

This is the perfect hangout place. The interior is minimalistic but very unique. Their drinks are also okay especially their Iced coffee with chocolate and hot chocolate.

After dinner, we decided to look for a coffee shop to hang out. As most of the coffee shops are full (Saturday night), Respite seemed to have reserve a few seats for us. It was my first time at Respite, though many friends have told me good things about it.Not being a coffee fan, I ordered their Cold Chocolate. I can taste that they use quality chocolate for their drinks, however it was too sweet for me. I hope they have a no-sugar option. My wife ordered Americano and she seemed to like it very much. They also have milkshakes where you can blend any of their cakes to the shake so that you can taste differently every time.We also ordered a Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookie. I love the chocolate chunks because they are so big. The cookie was laced with caramel syrup and it became overly sweet. It's good with coffee though, but I wouldn't eat it everyday. We ordered their fudge brownies, but I was glad they informed us they burnt their brownies and will not serve to us instead. That's concern for customers!Oh, check out their toilet, the one poster hanging by the door, it's super fun to read.Parking is ample on the opposite end and the guard there is super friendly.

Respite is a small café that has this ‘unpolished and unfinished’ charm that also features artwork. The unpainted walls, doodles, and fixtures make a creative and interesting interior.What makes the place extra special is their pastries and sweet delights which are baked by them, not ordered and supplied like a lot of cafes out there. Most of their bakes are really fresh and rich. We thoroughly enjoyed most of their chocolatey offerings like the dark choco chunk cookie and moist chocolate cake. The red velvet cupcake is moist and the spiced pumpkin loaf is a must-try.They don’t have an expansive menu, the simplicity adds to their appeal making it a great café to unwind and enjoy some great bakes with friends. I look forward to trying their savoury offerings on my next visit.

The best chocolate yogurt cake ever. Partner with freshly brewed coffee. Then buy cookies or another slice of cake for take out. Try their chicken pie too. Great service by the owners. Great ambiance. Will definitely come back.
