There’s always room for cake— that’s why my dessert stomach’s always ready! ❤️ This lovely Chocolate Dome cake hits the spot with layers of moist chocolate chiffon, silky chocolate cream and sweet and fluffy whipped cream to top it all off. 🤤 Plus, nestled in between these layers are tiny bites of chocolate chips. All these flavors are encased in a smooth chocolate ganache with cute flowers drawn on them too. ❤️

Childhood memories include really good pastries from Purple Oven. Aside from their famous Campfire Cake, other favorites are their lemon bars, fudge brownies, chocolate crinkles and choco lava cakes. The brownies are moist and just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate content of the crinkles is really generous and the cookie is soft and chewy. The cakes are really good too, especially the chocolate variants. Seating in the store is limited, most people order to go. Better come early, Purple Oven products tend to run out quickly.

I always go to Purple Oven in Corinthian Hills when I need to bring pastries somewhere or for my son’s baon. They would always ask me if I want to get an ecobag for my purchases and I would always say no. I have always felt that for a certain amount of purchase they should give it to the customer for free. Today was no different. I was just there a few minutes ago getting one whole box of brownies, one half box of lemon squares, and 6 mini carrot cakes. The girl asked me twice if I want an ecobag and I said no the first time. The second time she asked i rhetorically asked her what would happen if my purchases fall. She didn’t say anything. After I paid for my purchases (PHP1,920 in all), they gave me the 3 boxes. The girl was trying to open the ecobag for me so I asked her if she was giving me that for free. She shook her head. Exasperated, I said to tell the owner that she’s cheap. I don’t understand why I have to pay for a bag to put my boxes of pastries in. Purple oven should provide the bag for free! They should ensure that the customer would be able to enjoy the pastries and cakes she purchased by providing a bag where she can securely put all the pastry boxes in, not worrying that they would fall while she’s carrying all of them to her car. Serious lack of thinking and customer service!

Holiday season puts a spotlight to sweets. So this month, I got so much supply of cakes, pies, muffins, cookies and the like. One of the ones I tried was from a popular, Purple Oven. They now have around 10 branches. I got the Pistachio Stardust (Php 970), a not so sugary, light chiffon cake. It’s good but could use more nuts to bring out pistachio’s unique taste even more. The Food For The Gods bars, on the other hand, I found overly sweet. One bite was enough for me. What’s your go-to dessert here? Go share, so I can try that one next.
