The term "Pares" refers to beef stew paired with garlic fried rice, and a bowl of soup. Along the stretch of N.S. Amoranto Avenue (formerly Retiro), one will see quite a number of pares houses on both sides of the street. But The Original Pares & Mami House, is the most packed 😉Since pares houses are commonly found on side streets, expect parking problems. What I find interesting is that people don't mind the waiting time. Since this is not your typical restaurant, imagine having to stand up and wait for the person seated in front of you to finish eating. When one asks for the bill, they stand up to allow the next customers to be seated while they stand behind to wait for their bill. 🙂The beef pares ofcourse never fails. Perfectly paired with garlic friend rice and a hot bowl of clear soup. Bulalo soup was also good but nothing that will keep me coming back for it. Siomai is good and surprisingly generous in size.I admire the staff for being attentive and quick in serving their customers considering the volume of people waiting to be served. By the way, they have a take out counter for those who prefer to enjoy pares somewhere else or in the comforts of their home.

First time here and it was the best pares I've eaten so far. The beef pares was tender and has a chew to its texture. Waiting for this kind of dish in a popular crowded restaurant was worth it.

My go-to pares place! This place is always full, so patience is a must. Whenever we go here we always had to wait for almost an hour to get a seat so wag pupunta kung gutom na gutom kana. Haha! The food is great. Very affordable and sulit!

This restaurant is 40 minutes away from home (1 hour if traffic, of course) but my friends and I would really go the distance just so we can have our pares fix.A friend of mine introduced this resto to me 2-3 years ago and I’ve never eaten pares anywhere else since. It’s a testament of how good their pares is, and cheap as well! Their meat is so tender and the broth is flavorful, a lot of people like to add in soy sauce with calamansi and chili but I personally think it overpowers the already great quality broth and so I just put in chili for a little kick. For PHP 110, you get a generous amount of beef pares, soup, and chorizo & garlic rice. Very worth the price.I 10/10 recommend.(Note: a lot of people visit this restaurant so expect a waiting time.)

One of our all time favorites and family go to! The best beef pares and pares chicken! Grew up loving their food, when I was a kid, never knew where my father buys the chicken, as he would just bring take aways, and I remember how we enjoy eating. Introduced by my Father where I inherited the love for food. Usually he would eat here for dinner and I will just see his take aways at the table, most of the time he would bring home pares chicken, and the kikiam. Miss the old days! Also introduced this now to my love and will introduce this to my 1 year old niece soon and to my future kids.☺️

NOSTALGIAI was introduced to beef pares at a young age hence it is one of my favorite food. As a young kid, I'm always brought here by my grandpa late night to have quick bite.Their beef pares, camto soup and fried chicken used to be the bomb. However, time has not been kind to this establishment and the quality of the food has declined since then. Whereas new pares shops (won't mention the names) have come and improved on the classic dish, eventually tasting much better than the one served here.Word of advice, patience is a virtue. It's quite challenging to get a seat during peak hours and the crew will not reserve a seat for you so some determination is needed to dine in this establishment.I still dine here once in awhile but it's not as exciting as back then.

It's the bomb! Could actually be the best pares I've ever had. (I'm actually a fan of cocoy's but the last time I was, it seemed quality has gone down a bit). The beef was soft and chunky with just the right amount of litid and fat. The sauce was flavorful. Even the soup was tasty! Best of all the chili was for real! It got my head sweating while having lunch. At 110 pesos, it's a bit on the expensive side for pares, but it was worth it! Be prepared to wait for an open spot though even if you come early.

Patience is a must when dining at this place. I went here on a Saturday morning to have a breakfast, and I was immediately greeted by a jam-packed Pares house. It was hard to find a seat, coz someone's already standing at the back of those eating, waiting for them to stand up and leave. It's definitely not a place for cozy seekers. There's no airconditioning, seats are very much near apart, and you will literally eat at the side of the road. Diners are mostly on the their shorts and slippers. But I guess that's what I love about this place, it's actually the ambiance. Very simple. It's like people just woke up, found nothing on their fridge, and went straight to this place to eat. Their menu is very much affordable. One order of Beef Pares cost Php 100, while the Stuffed Shrimp was Php 70. An order of 3pcs. of Siomai was Php 40. Their Pares is very tasty, plus it has so much tendons(litid) on it which I love so much. The serving is just right, I even had an another order of Fried Rice cause I have more Beef left. Stuffed Shrimp taste good too, I guess it's a staple coz everyone seems to order it with the Pares. Their Siomai was a little disappointing, although it's big, it's too salty for me.The Staffs are amazingly very attentive, and listens very well to my orders. Despite of the left and right callings from so much diners, I didn't sensed any rudeness or being snob from them. Overall, I had a wonderful time dining at this place. I enjoyed not just the food, but every aspect of the experience. Definitely I will come back for more.

Two Saturdays ago, I had to drop by a baking shop in Congressional to canvass stuff for my project for work. Josh accompanied me there, and afterwards, we went to Retiro to have lunch. Every time he brings me home, we always pass by this pares place where the customers flocks in non-stop, and there is always someone waiting behind the seat of the dining customers. Of course, we tried it out of curiosity some time last year, and we liked it. We have tried pares from other places / restaurants, but I can say that nothing beats The Original Pares! 😍 Their Pares with Rice now costs Php 110 (it was around Php 70 to 80 before!), but it's still the same old BEST pares eveeer. 👌 Tender beef brisket with garlic rice has never been this good! Their chili garlic oil is super yummy, too, and makes the pares even yummier. We also got their Fried Tokwa (Php 25), and I loved it, as well as the sweet and salty sauce they serve it with. A must try and must visit when in Retiro! 👌😊#EatDrinkSplurge
