February 17, 2018We decided to visit Mateo’s for our first Anniversary! This has been in our list since last year and now we are happy we tried it out.CHECKLIST:✔️ Parking✔️ Airconditioned✔️ Outside Seating✔️ Restroom✔️ Reservations AcceptedBUDGETPhp 1, 500 approx (for 2)PLACE - 5.0The place is located at New Manila, a few minutes away from Gilmore Station. The restaurant itself looked like an old house renovated to be a restaurant. The dimmed lights added to the romantic feeling which is perfect for having an intimate dinner.PEOPLE - 5.0The staff were all amazing! They were friendly and knowledgeable. When asked about the different dishes, we were given detailed explanation about the specific dish. They even suggested on ways we can save! Service was quite fast because there were only a handful of costumers at that time.FOOD - 5.01. CrabletsThe amount of crablets were plenty in one order. They were crispy and tasty. It wasn’t too salt and too oily either. It was also served with garlic drenched in vinegar to balance the taste. A perfect appetizer! Something to munch on while you wait for your paella2. French Onion SoupYou’ll definitely know that the soup’s freshly cooked because it was served hot! The onions were perfectly caramelized. The baguette slice drenched in the soup was super cheesy! It was a perfect match! The right balance of the sweet taste of the onion, the meaty flavor of the broth, and the saltiness of the cheese.3. Seafood PaellaPaella is one of my most loved Spanish- Filipino dishes. I would have to say that this is one of the most delicious Paella that I have tasted. They were generous with the amount of seafood (shrimp, tahong, and clams) and other toppings. The quality of the rice was exquisite and was cooked to perfection!NOTE: Good for 3 people! The amount can be considered as a meal itself. Also, this meal needs to be ordered in advance because it takes 30 minutes to prepare.4. Honey Lemon ChickenThis dish complements the paella very well! The chicken is very tender and tasty. Sweet and savory at the same time. It was also served with a side salad and some fish sauce.5. SangriaThe sangria is available to order in a glass or in carafe. It’s both sweet and strong at the same time. It contained lots of fruits that balances out the taste of the alcohol.EATCREDIBLE tip: they accept reservations so it'll be best if you call in a head.Do we recommend? Yes! We definitely do especially on romantic dinners or ever family dinners. It is also a good place to taste authentic Spanish- Filipino dishes! Will definitely come for more Paella! 😊•••#foodporn #website #food #foodreview #foodgasm #websitedaries #foodgram #foodgrammerph #foodmatters #foodphotography #foodography #websitelife #websitegram #igersph #thefeedfeed #foodmnl #manila #theeatcrediblesph #sangria #paella #chicken #mateosph

The food was affordable, but I remember it being better the first few times before. The sangria's were too strong for my taste. But ambience and staff was perfect as always.

I had dinner here with my friend last Monday, and I will definitely go back!Food was okay, Im not really a fan of Paella, but for the first time I really enjoyed Mateo’s Vegetable Paella, it was so good and the rice was not mushy! As for the Kare-Kare, it may seem bland but their alamang pairs with it well. Their Sangria is a must-try! We had the Mateo’s Red Wine Sangria (Carafe size) and it was sweet and fruity, I ended up picking the apple bits! As for dessert, we had the Chocolate Table Cake, the cake was a bit dry but the flavor is there, it was not too sweet and the peanuty-yema on top blended perfectly with the chocolate cake.As for the location and ambiance, if I could rate 10 stars , I would! Lol the place is really beautiful, perfect for dates and chikahan moments.Another thing, the owner was there when we had our dinner, she’s a sweetheart! She explained the menu and shared some family stories, plus she’s really beautiful!
