Ordered the Get Lucky Meal (1pc chicken + rice + iced tea) at Php 138. Quite pricey for the serving size - 1 small piece of chicken leg and a small serving of rice. I was still a bit hungry after. There were few other customers so I think they only cooked our chicken after we've ordered that's why it took them like 20-30 mins to serve. The paper mat they use to serve their food needs to be replaced cause it gets torn a lot. Still giving them a 3.5 though because the chicken was delicious and the servers were very friendly and nice.

Comfort food from New York has inspired the owners to open up another restaurant that treats us to a favorite household dish which adults and children alike enjoy – FRIED CHICKEN.Lucky Chick is located at the 2nd floor of UP Town Center where Skull and Bones used to be, but this time we’re getting lucky because they’re offering us the crispiest chick in town! In addition to that, we have a choice of either of the 3 Gravies – Original, Honey, and Apple Cider.Who doesn’t love the good ‘ol Fried Chicken? Just looking at the photos and writing about it is already making my mouth water. Above is their Original Chicken but personally I prefer the Hot Chick as it offered a more distinct taste more than the usual original chicken. It only had a hint of spiciness to it so I presume it’s tolerable even for those who dislike spicy food. :)There are different packaged meals in ordering here.Should you opt for the Luckier Meal, we have a choice of the following sides. At that time they offered Garlic / Plain Rice, Coleslaw, Biscuit, Donut, Mashed Potato, Corn and Carrots, Mac and Cheese, and Corn Muffins. But in their revamped menu, they now have Fries, Waffle, Hashbrown Caserole, Corn on the Cob, and Green Peas.I liked their Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potato – Carbs galore. You can never go wrong with that as well as their corn and carrots and rice especially if you only have 1 provision for a side dish. Their biscuit had some time getting used to as well as their donut which is made in their kitchen.I also got to try their Spaghetti and Meatballs (Php 180) which is more Italian than Filipino as it was more sour than sweet. It was a good alternative to the chicken dishes. But of course, when there are times that we feel like eating a sandwich, their Pulled Pork (Php 200) is worth a try. It had a generous amount of pulled pork and it was filling too. They also had Fish Fillet (Php 160) as an option from the chicken dishes, served with rice and fries. yum!But the truth is that even with all the yummy alternatives, I’d still go for their Chicken Meal when I return :)For the best part of the meal, (next to chicken of course), we had a slice of Pecan Pie (Php 200) which I think my husband would enjoy more as I would say it had a more “mature” taste and it is something a specific market would enjoy. And as for me I’d go for the ultimate comfort dessert, Ice Cream Sandwich (Php 150)Imagine cold creamy vanilla ice cream sandwiched in freshly baked Choco Chip Cookies. My dentist would surely disapprove with the hot and cold combination. But in any case, it is the best food solution to the blues. The instant mood booster.Overall Lucky Chick is a place with a relatively new take to chicken with their different gravies and sides. Their menu had so much variety of comfort food which is the trademark of the owners as they also own a string of restaurants; my favorite Borough, Nolita, The Bowery, and L.E.S. Bagels. Truly they have mastered the art of offering comfort food in Manila.

My friends and I each got a luckier meal. So that's 1 piece of chicken + sides + rice. I liked the gravy and the chicken was good, but honestly, nothing to write home about. My friends got cornbread muffins and a salad as their side. I got the waffles. Waffles were really chewy and the syrup was downright medicinal 🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻 (definitely not recommended). The ambience was chill and they had a restroom inside so kudos to them. But, food-wise, it leans more to a miss than a hit for me.

This place is cozy but food needs to improve big time. Prices are ok but waiting time is long and with so many other choices in UP Town, you're better off going to other more creative restos. Fried chicken is nothing great. We did not even bother to take photos.

There are three varieties to Lucky Chick’s fried chicken, ranging from Original Chicken, Hot Chick to Lemon and Garlic. Since I’m a fan of spicy chicken, I ordered the Hot Chick — deep chicken flavor, a flab-free skin, juicy, tender meat, and crisp, spicy coating. Chef Francis Asuncion’s creation of the soft savory taste was derived from the strongly flavored buttermilk brine that tenderizes Lucky Chick’s chicken while keeping it crispy on the surface and evenly cooked on the inside. Great chicken. The sides were also awesome. While waiting for our orders, we enjoyed their GRAVY FRIES - dish made up of french fries and creamy cheese in light brown gravy sauce with bits of ground meat!Read full review on blog!
