Tried the chimichanga con carnetas is a must try. Rice was cooked like how Spanish does it. The hard in the center kind. The server is most acommodating and knows everything in the menu. They'll be coming out with their special spicy sauce in 2 weeks time. But how can one go wrong with Chef Gino of Cafe Ysabel.

This place is literally a hole-in-the-wall: a group of 13 filled up the entire resto. And it's a good thing that we took a cab going there because parking would have been a problem. However, the place sure made up for its humble exteriors with the food! We ordered Dynamitas, Nachos, different types of nachos and quesadillas. A serving of avocado ice cream capped off our very hearty meal. Btw, the props to the lone server, Timothy, who was able to handle the entire rambunctious bunch.

I've been going to this resto for almost a year now and it's really my fave mexican place around the scout area. I love their nachos, for p145, you really get a lot for what you pay for! Problem is there is no parking space. There used to be 1 parking space but after the road construction, it's gone.

A friend of mine wanted to have Mexican food for dinner and found this small place somewhere in Tomas Morato. Got to try their nachos and burritos. Both taste good especially their burrito coz you get to choose the meat and the rice to be used. We had their Barbacoa and Carnitas (meat) for our burritos and I must say it satisfied our cravings. 😊 (I prefer Barbacoa more than the latter. 😜) I didn't get the chance to take a photo of our burritos coz my hands were full of salsa and cheese. Not too long ago, O and I passed Sct. Castor street, beside Tomas Morato. It was tight and not that friendly for SUVs or vans where I saw the unnoticeable sign of La Taqueria Amiga Mia, hanging on top of the hole-in-the-wall eatery. "So that's what Chef Gino Gonzales was talking about," my shoutout after seeing the place. If you're not from the area, unfamiliar with shortcuts, or not a fan of its neighbor Greens Vegetarian Restaurant, a well-loved vegetarian restaurant standing in front, finding La Taqueria would appear inconvenient. But if you're up for the thrill of a not-too pricey casual dining Mexican restaurant to end the long workday week, it won't bother you to find your space in La Taqueria Amiga Mia. The Food:Cheese & Beer Soup (Php 95) - For an overly rich and cheesy soup, Cheese & Beer Soup takes the lead as your appetizer. It's a requirement you can handle cheesy dishes like this in a Mexican restaurant. The beer in the soup have stayed in low key, causing its cheese flavor to stand out more.Nachos (Php 145/225) - Swamped by a basket Nachos in front of me. Now how could you follow the song of Elsa and let it go? Loaded with everything necessary for a bed of nachos - salsa cruda, cheese sauce and sour cream. You can choose your meat: classic ground beef, chicharones, pollo asado, carnitas, barbacoa, mexican sausage, callos, lengua, karne asado or pescado. The abundant amount of nachos served in a basket is meant to be shared with a group.Mexican Fries (Php 100) - People who love to snack and can't tame their mouth, Mexican Fries is a runner-up next to the best-selling Nachos. It's a significant appetizer for kids who don't refuse potato wedges flooded with cheese sauce, minced meat and tomatoes. Save up some for me if you're planning to order this dish. :pChimichanga (Php 220) - In every Mexican restaurant we visit, O and I don't miss a chance to get an order of Chimichanga. Basically, Chimichanga is a deep-fried version of regular burrito. What we had was infused with burrito rice and made more interesting with carnitas instead of the usual beef or chicken meat. On top, it is covered with a complete package of bean paste, salsa cruda, corn salsa, sour cream, herb mix, cheese sauce, taco cheese and guacamole. Crunchy edges required effort to bite off the burrito or slice apart. With Chef Gino's Sauce from Hell, this Chimichanga climbs a notch higher for its flavor profile. For more photos and details, visit my food blog! :)Pray, Eat and Love.Cheers,The Food Scout

    1. no parking2. burrito's ingredients are 80% half cooked rice, 5% mashed black beans, 5% salsa, 5% cheese and sour cream, 1% whatever seasoning they use, 4% meat (i ordered barbacoa)3. no guacamole4. no avocado ice cream (twice, on different dates, i asked for the avocado ice cream. they always did have it. they should just take it off their menu)5. i asked for extra barbacoa (beef). it was an additional 30 pesos. they gave me what looks like a table spoon of beef. i asked for another. wala na daw. 6. i paid 245 pesos. i should have just gone to army navy. there at least their pathetic burrito, tho nothing close to superb, would have reached what you'd expect from army navy and thus no disappointments. sad. unless some miracle happens that their burritos becomes all the rave in metro manila, im not going returning to this resto.

We went here during their soft opening early last year. Their place is really small yet it's well-lit. One of their staff was approachable and he explained very well to us their menu. We ordered their Chimichanga which was very crispy and full of stuff. Their Quesadillas has lots of cheese and beef. Also, their Nachos was so tasty. He also recommend to us their Cheese and Beer soup which literally has a beer on it. It was good and has a twist on it. Their servings were big. It has also had a authentic Mexican taste. Their price was just fine.

I miss this place. I use to come here almost everyday last year for their nachos. The place feels like home ready. I also believe that mexican food should not be expensive. My friend and I would order nachos and sometimes other food on the menu like the quesadilla and the dinamita. It's always the best choice for mexican, at least for me. I guarantee that you'll get your money's worth here!

Their chimichangga's really good considering it's price! Place is a bit small but it's perfect if you want an intimate place to hang out with your friends.

This is my Mexican comfort food. The food never disappoints and it doesn't hurt that the price is affordable. The place is really tiny and along a narrow street. Parking can be daunting but when you really need your Mexican food fix, the trouble is worth it. My fave is their chimichanga with chicharones!
