Although I hate weird makis w cheese and nontraditional Japanese ingredients, John and Yoko is actually okay. I don't hate it, but it isn't great. Super affordable too! I'd never choose to go here though, I only tried it out cause my friends wanted to.

I like the ambiance of this restaurant because the lights are not too bright and there's enough space to move around. We ordered sukiyaki, which could feed 3 to 5 persons. It was deliciously sweet and hearty, filled with silken tofu, tender beef, mushrooms, vegetables, and noodles. We also had a kani salad; it was good, but nothing to write home about. We ordered the Amazing Kani Roll and the Las Vegas Roll, both of which were mildly spicy. The latter tasted weird with cucumber inside and chunks of cheese on top; I will definitely not order it again. Anyway, they have a lot of rolls to choose from, so I'm bound to find something I like.I thought these were not enough to fill my hungry tummy, so I ordered a bowl of katsudon with Japanese rice. The dish was tender but not very flavorful; I've had better.Service was good. There were not many people that night so the waiters were attentive. The food arrived quickly, though not all at the same time, of course.I will go back here to try other dishes and other rolls.

Their sushi is really good. Fresh and of a high quality. But don't order their ramen. I was tempted by the umbrella samurai gift. But when I ordered it, the ramen stock is completely tasteless. And completely hate the noodle too. The server took my order wrong the first time I came there.

My companions and I went to UP town and almost all of the restos were full. We opted to give this resto a try despite having second thoughts. We were seated right away, and the service was good, the staff were very friendly too. Although some of the items that we wanted to order weren't available, there were still plenty of choices. They have a little bit of everything in their menu which can be overwhelming so it's hard to choose from the many items they offer. A lot of their food is for sharing so it's best that you ask the waiter first before ordering. We had a pleasant dining experience because we liked our food and the restaurant was not too noisy.

We were at UPTC craving for some Japanese food (read: sushi). Since we also wanted to try something new, we decided to eat at John and Yoko which was a newly opened restaurant back then. The place was surprisingly quiet given that it was Friday night rush hour. The servers were very nice and accommodating. :) Their food came in HUGE servings good for 2-3 persons per meal. We ordered 3 separate meals that night which we regretted afterwards since we were unable to finish our food. Their sushi was great! We tried Uni Fried Maki and Dynamite Roll. Other food items were okay for their price. Overall, I recommend this place for their great sushi, service, and ambiance. Perfect for a chill night out with friends.
