Hole-in-the-wall hits muna!Gf was telling me about this Korean restaurant that she really likes. She told me that she likes this noodle dish and when I asked her to describe it, she had difficulty. Now I’m curious. It’s called Jjang Kkae, located along Kalayaan in QC and it’s inside an old building. A little sketchy at first because the way going inside was nothing special at all. Just a corridor plastered with photos of what they offer and the place lacks the “uy mukhang ok dito ah” factor. Inside, you will basic tables and chairs, lit by normal white lights. In addition to that, we were the only ones who were there. We ordered Jjam Jja-Myeon (Php 300, good for 2) which is noodles w/ black bean paste and spicy seafood and vegetable noodles. It comes with a side of onions, a yellow, sweet tasting vegetable (di ko alam kung ano yun), and a black salty dipping sauce (na hindi ko rin alam kung ano yun). A couple of minutes later, a group entered the establishment and ordered the same thing. This dish must be popular. Order arrived. Game time. The noodles with black sauce - The noodles used are like glass noodles, but thicker. Almost translucent and had a nice bite to it. The sauce has sweet notes to it and the texture and experience is like eating an upgraded instant pancit canton with heaps of sauce. The sauce coats the noodles very well and it goes down smooth and easy. As for the other tastes, I couldn’t really describe it. Now I can relate. It’s something that’s not very familiar to the Filipino tongue. As for the seafood noodles, definitely not for someone who’s not a fan of spicy food. This will make your sipon go tulo even if you don’t have sipon. I’m a fan of spicy food and I would rate the spice level 7/10. Not crazy burn your mouth level but you will definitely sweat and feel the heat. The soup also isn’t thick, the seafood and vegetables servings are generous. As for authenticity, I never really got to taste these dishes in Korea but my gf who stayed there for a year told me that the taste is close to the real thing. Overall, a nice find. A different experience.

It’s been awhile since I plan to go to this place. The place is quite hot and not that spacious.Ordered for take away, they have half-half of Jjampong & Jjajangmyeon. Their noodles really really tastes good and is really worth it. Their serving size is for 2-3 persons. Will definitely comeback again for their noodles.

I lived in Korea for 2.5 years and I looked for an authentic Korean restaurant here for over a year until I found Jjang Kkae. It's not the prettiest or nicest looking restaurants out there. It's not fancy. But the food is delicious! My gf and I ordered the classic duo Jjampong and Jjajangmyeon. And some steamed Mandu. The portions are big, so we weren't able to finish it all. That amount of food is probably good for 3 people.Everything tastes really authentic. No wonder why you can see Korean customers there!Gotta go back to try their sweet and sour pork!

Went here last October 29, 2018.I ordered JJAM JJA-MYEON (Noodles with stir-fried black beans paste with spicy seafood & vegetable).Ambiance:The ambiance is okay, it looks like an old Chinese restaurant but it's clean. Their restroom cubicle is so dark though!Food:The black beans paste is good, their noodles is thick and quite sticky. I wouldn't say it's SUPERB because it's not. The longer the noodles is soaked in the black beans paste the tastier it gets. But nothing spectacular about it, worth a try? Definitely especially for someone who doesn't eat meat like me. Will I buy it again? Yes, because it's something new and I haven't get fed up to it. LolThe black beans paste noodles comes with spicy seafood. Their noodles is the same, thick and quite sticky. The seafood noodles taste familiar I'm not sure where I tasted it, probably just like any other korean instant noodles but with real seafoods on it.With the price range, I would say it was okay. They have huge serving! I am heavy eater myself and I find their serving so heavy, probably because it's a noodles.Server:Well, I was observing their male server setting up the other table. The chopsticks fell of the table (touched the ground). He picked it up, and boom place it back on the table. I wanted to call his attention but my friend stopped me.Anyways, if you will eat here I suggest you asked them to wash it again or bring your own utensils. Because apparently that guy is unhygienic.

The ambience might not be the best but they serve really good food. Whenever I miss Korea, I go here to eat jjajangmyeon. For my nth visit, we had this duo of jjajangmyeon and jjampong plus their steamed mandu (8pcs). This is actually too much for two people and we just paid P500.P. S. I love their pickled radish side dish. Must try with the jjajangmyeon.

Store openning - its actually open at 10:45 or 11:00, we had to wait for their cook to arrive (we arrrived early like 9+something - we had to wait for 2hrs)Ambience - kind of off (sobrang tahimik lang ata pag dating namin since kami unang customer.. LOL)Restroom - dito ako na disappoint - walang water! At di talaga acceptable if your running a food businessFood - ordered:* 1 steamed mandu - 8pcs it was good, clean stating* 2 jjangmeyeon - it was kind of bland, not really tasty, hindi madami ingredients puro sibuyas lol 😂

After I came back from Seoul, I missed jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk so I searched the Internet to look if there's any restaurants serving them. I found it and immediately went to try it out. The jjajangmyeon is the same as in Korea although Tangsuyuk is quite different and also very pricey for me. Maybe I will come back again for Jjajangmyeon but not for Tangsuyuk (since I already learned how to cook it^^)

My go to place when I'm craving jjajangmyeon / black bean noodles. And I definitely need to order tangsuyuk on the side, just make sure the sauce is not poured over the meat so it won't get soggy.
