I had high expectations because of the rave in website. Sadly, my companion and I can't call the food yummy. We tried grilled chicken salad and tomato mozarella salad which were okay in taste and preparation. The disappointment was on the chicken roulade with mushroom risotto because the chicken did not seem fresh. The positives for this resto are the friendly servers and the nice clean quiet ambience.

You can easily miss the resto since the signage is not noticeable. Then there's the parking space which was too high, my friend's car got scratched on the bottom. As for the food, they were really aesthetically prepared as most reviews here stated. The place isn't fancy but the food art makes up for it. We ordered the kani roll, truffle mushroom pasta, fillet mignon and chicken ala kiev. We really loved the kani roll, we were craving for more of the sauce since it really went well with the roll. The pasta was a little salty but really earthy and it tasted okay. We ordered the fillet mignon medium rare which my friend really loved. It had the right kind of spice and the sauce was ample enough to cover each slice. I wasn't too fond with the chicken though. I think the filling was not complimenting the meat. It was a good resto experience but i don't think the price is congruent with the taste.

Last week, I was invited to try Healthy Day along Banawe St. in Quezon City. I was totally blown away by the food by the time we were done! Literally surprised and awestruck! Food presentation level: Iron Chef. I wondered why I hadn’t noticed the place before – I drive through Banawe at least once a month or once every couple of months for some reason or other. Healthy Day was well-lit, looked hip, new and clean, and I was curious but a bit hesitant to try “healthy food” – imagining being served raw vegetables, lettuce and sprouts.

I love the flavored tahos! They serve Plain, Kiwi, Banana, Strawberry flavored tahos. This place is perfect for people who are health conscious. Their frappes are not that delicious but juices are a must try. Love the ambiance of this place, it is very neat, a great fit for people who go for minimalism.

Healthy dishes - at some point, not all healthy dishes are vegetarian dishes. At Healthy Day Cafe and Restaurant, guilt-free meat and vegetable dishes are served. Healthy dishes doesn't mean pure vegetarian dishes. At Healthy Day, they served dishes with less fat and low calories without sacrificing the delicious taste of every dish.**PLACE & SERVICE – Healthy Day Cafe and Restaurant is located along Banawe Street at Quezon City. A classy and peaceful ambiance will welcome you as you enter the cafe. You can also enjoy the very creative tables inspired by cafe latte art. You'll also be glad to have the nicest and knowledgeable staffs to assist you here at Healthy Day. They know every dishes they served.  **FOOD – It's time for a food review! Here are the dishes available at Healthy Day:✔ Kani Roll (Php 160.00) - Even it's an appetizer, it is my most favorite dish here at Healthy Day. They made the usual Kani Salad into a roll. The dressing is very delicious and refreshing. Everything is well-combined and the vegetables are crispy. It is also one of their best-selling dishes here. It's a must-try! ✔ Healthy Day Salad (Php 240.00) - Crispy veggies and tofu cuts with tartar sauce as a dressing. It's a bit sour for my taste. ✔ Mozzarella Tomato Salad (Php 310.00) - Big tomatoes stuffed with dried pesto and breadcrumbs and topped with Mozzarella cheese. The tomato and cheese combination is perfect. The taste of the pesto is also distinguishable but the taste is not that strong. ✔ Spinach Pumpkin Carbonara with Salmon (Php 220.00) - It might be like the usual carbonara dish, but the difference is the sauce. It is made of pumpkin sauce and with spinach and salmon mixed together. It is surprisingly delicious and for some reasons, it makes me crave for more of this. ✔ Roasted Asparagus and Bell Pepper Aglio e Olio (Php 190.00) - Of course since its an Aglio e Olio dish, I can taste the combination of oil and garlic sauce first. This dish is not that oily as it sounds. You can also enjoy the roasted fresh asparagus. ✔ Dill Crusted Salmon with Carrot Potato Mash (Php 560.00) - Enjoy this combination of crispy salmon, potato mash and honey dill sauce. The salmon is quite dry (since it is exposed already as we took pictures first before we eat this dish) so it is better to eat this dish after it is served. The combination of carrot to the potato mash is good. One thing I learned from one of their staff is the difference between the Potato Mash and Mashed Potato. Potato Mash is the use of real potatoes unlike the mashed potatoes which is most of the time prepared with artificial flavorings. ✔ Chicken Rouland with Wild Mushroom Risotto (Php 380.00) - The roasted flavor of the chicken is really good but I also find the meat quite dry. I also find the sticky brown rice quite sour or sometimes taste like a burned rice at first, but then its garlic flavor ooze out as I eat it continuously. ✔ Chicken Salpicao with Garlic Brown Rice (Php 360.00) - Served with a cup of garlic brown rice, enjoy the diced chicken meat with Shitake mushrooms and other veggies. The chicken is very tender. It is one of their best-selling dish.✔ Pork Risotto (Php 410.00) - Enjoy the barbeque-flavored pork with sticky brown rice mixed with some pumpkins. I find the pork to hard to slice. The rice and pumpkin combination is good. Not too plain and salty. ✔ Filet Minon with Garlic Potato Mash (Php 680.00) - Medium-rare beef topped with some mushrooms and with garlic potato mash beneath. I really like the combination of the beef plus the garlic potato mash. If you are a fan of medium-rare beef dish, this Filet Minon is a must-try. ✔ Caramel NuttyChilla (Php 135.00 - Regular Size) - The nutty flavor of this drink is really delicious. It is sweet because of the caramel added and I actually enjoyed this drink so much. ✔ Oatmeal MochaChilla (Php 120.00 - Regular Size) - Looking for a not-to-sweet refreshing cold drink? Try this Oatmeal MochaChilla. You can taste tiny bits of oatmeal in this drink. ✔ Berry Delight (Php 150.00) - A combination of strawberry puree, blueberries and yogurt in one refreshing drink. This drink is really sweet and the taste is more on its yogurt side. ✔ Go-go Juice (Php 120.00) - Healthy Day will not be complete without the healthy drinks. This Go-go Juice is an appetite-booster drink. A combination of spinach, celery, pineapple and orange in one drink. Surprisingly, it is really delicious you can't even distinguish it has some veggies in it. ✔ Stress Buster (Php 140.00) - Help yourself to relieve to a stressful day with Healthy Day's Stress Buster. A very light and refreshing drink perfect for a stressful day. It is almost same as the Go-go Juice but this drink has some carrots in it.✔ Mango Cucumber Souffle - With a combination of oatmeal and chocolates for its crust, this Mango Cucumber Souffle is not the usual dessert that we know. The mango and cucumber combination for me is good. I only find the crust a bit too hard.✔ Strawberry Souffle - Don't expect this dish as a regular strawberry cheesecake around. It has an oatmeal crust and the taste is more on the creamy side. I barely taste the cheese side of this dish. **PRICE – For the price, it might be a bit expensive compared to other restaurants around. But for me, it is worth the money since I am assured that every dishes are fresh. Also most of their dishes are good for sharing.**VERDICT – If you happened to be at Banawe, or just looking for a restaurant who serves healthy dishes, Healthy Day Cafe, Spa and Restaurant is a place to try!

When I arrived at the restaurant and started perusing the menu, my first thought was, "Oh, it's so expensive!" The main courses started at P360, and the seafood and beef ranged from P500-680.But after trying them all, I CHANGED MY MIND and now actually think that they are very good value. The food is prepared very well, the servings are generous (good for sharing), and the presentation is so pretty! If I were to order something similar at a hotel or other high-end restaurant, it would be at least P800-1,500 per dish, and the servings would not be as generous. I find the food served at Healthy Day to be at the same level, if not higher, than, more expensive restaurants.Take a look at the pictures and tell me that they are not Food Level: Iron Chef! And on top of the food being good-looking and mouthwatering -- THE FOOD IS HEALTHY!DRINKSIf you are looking for a healthier alternative to the usual frappucinos, try their beverages - I especially liked the Caramel Nuttychilla and the Lemon Matcha.FOODMy favorite is the Dill-Crusted Salmon with Carrot Potato Mash (P560)They used lean salmon here. I found the salmon creamy. The pesto, the honey mustard sauce, the decorative herbs, all helped to make this dish a symphony of flavors. I also liked the carrot potato mash - the potatoes seem to have been roasted before mashing (boiled potatoes are usually more gummy). I found the mash substantial, well-seasoned and rustic. I didn't even notice that I was eating "healthy". I did not miss the usual abundance of cream or butter at all.Writing this now, I am suddenly beset with a craving for this salmon! It's really good. I think this dish will feature in my food dreams for a while ;)I also liked the Chicken Roulade with Wild Mushroom Risotto (P380)The risotto is made with brown rice to make it healthier. I liked that the risotto had some "bite" to it because of the brown rice. The chicken roulade was also seasoned well, the red-wine reduction making it sweet and giving it added depth of flavor. And I love wild mushrooms, what can I say?***more food in the post at the Barat Ako blog*** If I put everything here, this review will be too long!SERVICEThe wait staff were very knowledgeable about the food. I was impressed because this is actually rarer than you think. The staff knew the complete name of the various dishes, and they could answer our questions about the food, they are familiar with herbs, they knew the ingredients that were used to make the dishes. I found them very engaged in their work.SUMMARYI found the food combinations inventive! I truly did not expect to find such great food at a small restaurant like this. As an added bonus, all the food is healthy - minimal fat, minimal unhealthy stuff, maximum flavor and good use of herbs. They really do make an effort to make the dish healthier by incorporating more good veggies into your meal.Someone said that eating at Healthy Day made eating healthy NOT feel like a punishment. I say, their food makes eating healthy seem like gluttony! If this is what I am going to be served, sign me up for healthy eating!***A more comprehensive review detailing the drinks and dishes I tried is up on my blog, Barat Ako! Please check it out!***

I have no idea that Banawe offers a lot for foodies because of the number of places to dine in and to hang out, and one of these places is Healthy Day Cafe, Spa and Restaurant. The place is great dining in and hanging out because of its delicious and healthy food and drinks, and if you want to relax, you may also opt to try their spa which is located just beside the restaurant itself. Ambiance is fresh, fun and cozy. Coffee-art tables adds a quirky touch in their cafe, and their organic plants used in their menu is displayed for everyone to see. It is said that they offered healthy delicacies but we were surprised that they are all delicious! Here's my review on what we had: Drinks:Caramel nuttychilla – this iced coffee is mild, nutty with sweet and creamy aftertaste because of the caramel. It is said to be less acidic so this one is good for me. :) Oatmeal mochachilla – another take on their blended iced coffee that is sugar-free has a mocha aftertaste and has oatmeal grains. I'm not a fan of oatmeal but this one makes is something that I also like. Lemon matcha – I find it refreshing and calming. This iced drink has a strong smell of green tea and the mix of lemon makes it sweet sweet and a bit tangy. Berry delight – the mix of blueberry, strawberry puree and nonfat yoghurt is something that the kids will enjoy! It tastes like candy that is made in a healthy way. Stress buster – the mix of carrots, celery, pineapple and orange is said to be good for appetite. Gogo juice – It's one juice that is made healthy because of the mix o spinach, orange and pineapple. Appetizer: Healthy day salad – it is composed of chicken, croutons, olives, carrots, tomato, lettuce mixed in tartar sauce and balsamic vinegar. I was surprised that it tastes sweet, the chicken is deliciously cooked (it was roasted) and the mix of ingredients compliments well. Kani roll – the mix of crabstick, cucumber, carrot, mango wrapped in a rice paper is light, crunchy and delicious! This is one of my personal favorite! Tomato mozzarella – tomato stuffed with the mix of dry pesto, bread crumbs and topped with mozzarella cheese. I liked the tomato a lot but I find it a bit oily. Pasta: Spinach pumpkin carbonara with salmon – the creamy pumpkin sauce mixed with spinach and salmon in a pasta dish dish is delectable. The pumpkin sauce makes it different and it's on the sweet side too.  Roasted asparagus and bell pepper aglio e olio – The roasted asparagus is evident to taste, as well as the combination of the oil and garlic sauce. I like the fact that it's not that oily as it looks. Main dishes:Dill crusted salmon with carrot potato mash – baked salmon with mashed potatoes topped with crushed bread crumbs and carrots with honey dill sauce on the side. The salmon is dry for it is exposed before it was served to us, but it was still moist and the salmon is indeed flavorful. Add the honey dill sauce to the salmon and it was heavenly. I would love to have my own serving of this dish provided that the salmon is steamed well and not dry. Chicken roulade with wild mushroom risotto – the roasted chicken is tender to taste, the sticky brown rice with shiitake mushroom has a distinct smokey taste. Chicken salpicao – another favorite of mine from their menu aside from the dill crusted salmon. They used chopped chicken breast cooked in olive oil, with button and shiitake mushroom and was served with garlic brown rice. I like the combination of it all and even my sister likes it a lot. :) Fillet mignon with garlic potato mash – deliciously cooked beef tenderloin topped with carrots and shiitake mushrooms, with mashed potatoes, steamed veggies and pesto on the side. I had to say that the potato mash is a hit for me on this dish, and it is a perfect combo with the fillet mignon. If you wanna try this dish, ask the service crew to make it medium rare to savor the taste of the beef tenderloin. Pork risotto – barbeque flavored pork with sticky brown rice and pumpkin. Just like the Spinach pumpkin carbonara with salmon, the pumpkin makes the dish different. The pork is flavorful and I liked it. Dessert: Mango cucumber souffle – mango cheesecake with fresh mangoes and cucumber to top the dessert. They also use a combination of oatmeal and chocolates for the crust but I find it hard to chew at. Cheesecake is on the bland side, but the toppings made it flavorful. Strawberry souffle – strawberry cheesecake with fresh strawberries on top. Like the mango cucumber souffle, they also use the chocolate and oatmeal combo for the crust. The cheesecake is delicious and refreshing and I love it! Service is fast, friendly and accommodating. Food is pricey but the serving is big and it's worth it. :) Make sure to drop by if you're in Banawe area! :) www. SailorStarCatcher.net
