I ordered their Beef (or is it Keema) Chelo Kabab with Basmati Rice at their The Yard Xavierville branch. Though I expected it to taste like shawarma... Boy, was I wrong! It do tastes very Persian and the sauces are the ones that I love. I still haven't got to taste an authentic "kebab" until now, though. And I'll still prefer shawarma. Plus whole new experience!

Overall bad bland food. Sayang sa pera. The lassi is bad as well, hindi naghahalo yung yogurt sa tubig, not worth it. Nagkamali pa 'yung counter sa order ko instead of lassi binigay iced tea. NOT RECOMMENDED!

Hello everyone! January just ended and it’s now time to welcome the month of February. Yes, just like that, we are already in the second month of the year. We hope all of you had a good January and are all looking forward to an even better February. In this edition of EATSplorations, we will be sharing with you an EATSperience at an eatery in the Katipunan area of Quezon City. This EATSperience is about Halal Kabab Express located just across Ateneo de Manila University at Park 9 Alley. Halal Kabab Express specializes in Middle Eastern cuisine, so expect numerous dishes that feature grilled beef and chicken with Persian or Basmati Rice. We have been looking forward to dining at Halal Kabab Express because we were really starving that day. Also, we have heard great things about it from friends and it is also considered as one of the bestselling stalls at The Yard at Xavierville. Before we get all carried away, let’s begin our Halal Kabab Express EATSperience! Here it goes, enjoy!

4/5: I ordered the "KM4" - the beef and chicken kabab meal and mango lassi on the side. (I chose this because I couldn't really decide whether I wanted beef or chicken.) The food overall was good - it was very filling and the flavor was really good. The eating environment was kinda small, so only about 20 something people could eat in the air-conditioned area at a time. The mango lassi was really creamy, but the serving size is quite small - so I think getting iced tea would be better for the wallet. The price is okay - not too expensive, and not too cheap.  The service is good - the food came rather quickly and the waitress refilled our sauces (without us even asking!) for free. Would definitely come back and eat here one day. 4/5 because while the overall experience was good, it didn't make a huge impact on me afterwards.

You're paying around 150 per meal, but you're getting a good serving out of it. Love eating there whenever I can. The place is small and a bit crowded, but te food there is great.

For starters, we had the Chelo Jujeh Kabab (P179.00), Chicken Barbecue with Saffron, Grilled Tomato and Persian rice. The chicken is grilled to perfection, and isn’t tough or dry at all (which is usually my problem when it comes to Persian food). The rice on its own also speaks wonders! My usual Persian rice is just plain Basmati rice topped with butter; but their rice, on the other hand, beams with different flavors and spices. I was trying to identify each one, but eventually gave up because I just wanted to enjoy the food. Our second course was the Kabab Kubideh Wrap (P99). After having rice, we wanted something a bit lighter, so we could ease into rice again, lol. It’s made of Beef Kabab, Tomato and Onion. Our last meal was the Chelo Kabab Kubideh (P179.00), or Beef Kabab with Grilled tomato and Persian rice. I made sure I tried this last because I’m very fond of Chelo Kabab. The Chef mentions that if you eat Chelo Kabab with pure beef, though, you have to make sure you eat it as soon as it’s served because it gets drier the longer you let the meat sit.To complement our meal, we had Lassi P70 , a Yogurt Drink in Plain and Rose Water. I’ve had a couple of favorite yogurt drinks in the past, but their plain yogurt drink is a revelation. It is sweet, tangy and refreshing. The Rose Water Yogurt, on the other hand, gave me butterflies on my tongue (is there such thing?). I hadn’t had any rose water-flavored drink before and I was surprised that it tasted so invigorating.

Food is great, and it’s very chill and the employees are nice. Even if the place is small, the food and calmness of the place makes up for it

I just happened to pass by Hala Kabab Express. Being small, I really did not expect much. There were 3 tables occuppied with a total of 6 people dining including us.Lo and behold, the Php 189 kabab came out raw and has just been placed on the grill to be cooked.Even more so that the serving size was very generous. Add to that a really well made soup that you can have refilled twice more. Same goes for the sauce and chili. (That which is very generous already compared to establishments that ask Php15 for more sauce.)I just wished the rice had more of the salsa they dressed it with as well as a dash more flavoring to the kabab.Overall bang-for-buck experience.Service is great, too, with attentive staff making sure everything is in order.I couldn't get a decent photo because of poor lighting.

For first time visitors, I suggest you have their Junior Kabab. At 139 bucks, they serve a generous plate with rice, kabab, and four dips. Though it may be an acquired taste, halal kabab is worth trying and satisfying. They have a nice restroom too.

Although it looks a bitch sketchy from the outside, don't be fooled as it has an airconditioned part inside! It's a relatively small and intimate restaurant and my go to is their cheap, yet delicious and filling wraps for only 99 bucks. One of the underrated gems of Katipunan.
