Dulcelin is probably one of the more understated new restos around. Not having generated much buzz since it opened late last year at the UP Town Center, this gem of a place should be on every good website's hit list. Best known for their decadent and excellently-made desserts, Dulcelin has made a name for itself with its famous Mango Torte. But what people don't usually know is that they also serve up some equally fantastic savory food. I have had the pleasure of getting to know one of its owners, Ricky Morales, a master of meat and barbecue and a true craftsman at what he creates. So it's no wonder his offerings are so dang good, well thought of, bursting with flavor and unforgettably craveable. I can honestly say that you won't go wrong with anything you order from their menu, having been there a few times now. It's never a hit or miss, which I love. Do try their Red Rice Shiso Duo, a lovely starter with fresh Shiso leaves, marinated tuna, shrimp and Angus Strip Steak, beautifully plated with quail eggs, red rice and pickles then sprinkled with a Korean dressing. Definitely one of my faves. Also try their Fresh Mushroom Pasta and Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese, drool-worthy. No shortcuts or extenders, just really good ingredients, prepared with love. Another one of my favorites is the Chili Oil Poached Halibut, delicately cooked, the fish is flaky and moist with only a subtle hint of spice and a hum of Kaffir Lime leaves, to give it a nice herbiness. Of course don't forget about the meats, which are Ricky's specialty. Sink your teeth into the juiciest, tenderest Roast Beef Belly, sous vide to perfection and just melts in your mouth. Also order the Homemade Angus Corned beef, served with a flavorful broth and boiled potatoes. And when you've had your fill, of course splurge on their wide array of desserts. I love their Irish Bundt Cake, Stellar Banoffee Pie and of course their signature Mango Torte. Don't miss out on the Dulcelin experience. You really have to try it and I assure you, you'll be back for more.

Dulcelin's Mango Torte makes its appearance at many family functions, and rightly so. Its unique nougatine crust, whipped sweet cream with a tinge of meringue, and sweet mango balls make this a distinct crowdpleaser the whole year round. I can vouch for this cake with my eyes closed, together with their Chocolate Decadent Cake with caramel sauce and Mom's Apple Pie. Call in advance to lessen your wait outside the door, and give them at least three-four hours advance notice for most cakes if they're not in stock.I can't wait to try their savory specialties at their new U.P. Town Center restaurant!

Lemme get this out of the way first.  We wanted to stay inside but the chick said ALL of the tables are reserved and she offered the empty tables outside.  I don't wanna create a fuss,  i figured it's okay since we're only having dessert.   While i was halfway done with my pie,  a group of three came in and they were ushered inside quickly,  i shrugged it off.  Then a couple of minutes after,  another party of three arrived and the same thing happened.  They didn't occupy the reserved tables,  apparently there are two tables available inside.  Why do i have this feeling that they have double standards when it comes to diners.  I mean,  i wasn't wearing anything fancy but i look decent.   I wanted to give the staff a piece of my mind but CMA said, i should let it go.  Here's the icing on the cake,  my rants are audible and within earshot of one of the servers and NO ONE approached us.  Bad manners,  Dulcelin!  Note:  We got the Key Lime Pie and Irish  Flan Cream Cake.  Both were good but I'm giving it one star for the awful service.
