Interiors: So in love with the interiors! I kinda pictured this in mind that the cafe would have this vibe. Very industrial chic (is that still the term to use?) LOL. It's got that utilitarian design rounded with rusticity of the wooden elements here and there. I adore the colors and that clean, simple and homey overall vibe. Brick walls, metal drop lights, perfect natural light, wooden furniture, awesome music, concrete floors, wall art, it's got everything I like design-wise! Very Instagram-worthy!Food: Let me talk about the Loco Moco. Now before visiting Cup Fiction, we already took a peek at their menu (via website) and being the pork lover that I am, naturally, I wanted to order the Pork Belly but was having second thoughts because it was quite pricey! Fortunately (and unfortunately), the menu on their website page isn't updated and I learned that the Pork Belly was already removed from the menu. They're serving a new pork dish called Loco Moco.Loco Moco is actually a staple food in Hawaii. Some blogs coin it as a "soul food." I think it's equivalent to tapsilog here in the Philippines? It's something easy to whip up, sloppy and comforting, may be regarded as breakfast food but you can really just eat it any time of the day. A traditional Loco Moco consists of a bed of white rice topped with a thick hamburger patty topped with a sunny side-up egg then smothered in gravy. Cup Fiction put a different twist on their Loco Moco by using a slab (or was it 2) of bacon and some arugula, which is just perfect. I thought the generous amount of gravy would overpower the entire dish but it actually worked well with the bacon. It's something I would order all the time if Cup Fiction was anywhere near where I work or where I live. This dish is satisfying and filling! My other favorite was the Oliver's Grilled Cheese. The combo of the grilled cheese sandwich and the tomato soup was perfect. It was another friend who ordered one but I gotta admit I was eyeing it the moment its plate hit the table. I ended up ordering one to-go just so it wouldn't haunt me in my dreams. Hahaha. The sandwich was good on its own, but with the tomato soup it's so much better. I didn't get to taste everything that we ordered because I'm already full, but everyone's pretty satisfied with what they've had.

Tried out Cup Fiction the other day since I pass by Katipunan on a daily basis and see what they have to offer. First and foremost, they are still on soft opening so the choices are limited on offer. i tried their Flat White coffee with the Kaiju Sandwich. I was really pleased by the taste of the roast beef and the melted cheese. I also tried the BIG chocolate Chip Cookie. They were freshly made and had it heated when they served it, perfect with the coffee. Overall the price is justified by the quality ingredients used in the dish. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends if they don't want to go for Starbucks on Temple Drive (Hellish Parking)

I needed a place to stopover before heading to brave the Katipunan traffic. This place is just the right distance away from the flyover and where everybody seems to be driving to. It offers a quiet spot to recharge a bit and power-up with a tasty plate and a cup of your choiceI choose the BEEF SALPICAO. Beef cubes were cut at the right chewable size. It was tender, marinated in sweet and spicy salpicao flavor. There was a piece of red chilli on top for added spice but I choose not to touch it anymore as the meat itself had the right chilli-kick already. The bed of rice was flavorful and I could eat it alone. There were some greens to balance the meal too. For my drink, I got excited when I read that their coffee is from EDSA Design Beverage Group. I just recently visited their coffee studio and I ❤️️ how they brew their beans. I order a cup of AMERICANO. It was just the right boldness to give me that wake-up jolt I need for the road. I am hoping to do that stopover again as I take my regular drive to Katipunan.

I’ve heard Cup Fiction from the Magalonas’ social media accounts a lot of times already so my impression was that the place will be packed with people. During our visit, we were the only ones there and they were still on their ‘soft opening’. Looks like the place needs to be marketed more. :) Also, Cup Fiction can be easily missed out. Aside from the fact that no one was there when we visited, they might need to consider signages visible on the streets.I liked how the interiors give a rustic yet cozy vibe. The main accent of the whole place is the shelf on the left side which holds books for reading and one board game for playing (I guess). They also have a room that’s closed (the one where one wall is drawn/painted with Jim and Saab’s portraits) for public. Maybe they’re considering tapping private functions/groups, too.For my food and drinks, I ordered The BFG Cookie (dark chocolate) and a cold glass of milk. The cookie was a giant one therefore its partner (the glass of milk) not enough. The dark choco cookie was not that moist and was a little crumbly halfway through eating it. Since it’s dark chocolate, the sweetness was not so overwhelming.

Ambience is sophisticated minimalist. The same goes with the menu.I ordered the Off-White Iced Latte. I liked it. However, it's in a very simple short glass. The taste is great though not uncommon. For a quick bite, we had Oliver's Grilled Cheese. The portion, that is the sandwich, is sufficient. It comes with sweet potato Fried chips and a tomato soup. It's delicious :)I will come back here because it's near my place. It's not crowded and the internet is uber fast :)They are yet to accept credit card payments.
