Coconut in your okoy, pancit, and sinigang? Why not! This is an old restaurant here in Quezon City Memorial Circle yet this hidden gem doesn't get enough recognition. As the name suggests, coconut is the main theme/ingredient in their dishes and man, I never thought that coconut can be used in different dishes. The owner really did some good research as to what they can do with the coconut just like for example the okoy, who would think that using coconut could still be good. Their pansit buko is your typical pancit canton but they used buko instead of your ordinary noodles which gives a smooth and soft texture. If they can't incorporate it in the main ingredient, then they'll use it in the dish's sauce just like what they did with the bangus belly salpicao. My personal favorite is the Pork Sinigang sa Buko. While I think there is still room for more "asim", I think this is one of their boldest move, which is to incorporate buko in this dish. Maybe I'll request to make it more "maasim" the next time I go there. I am also intrigued by their pasta on the menu so that will be on my list as well. O well, the restaurant is relatively close to us so it isn't much of a hassle to go back. TIP: Try their Coffeenut which is basically brewed coffee but they used coconut water instead of ordinary water. Try it, it's good!website ChinaLiee LozanoTherese MendozaKen LinglingManang BidangTakaw Tikim X Nina Jesica TolentinoBoyeatworldph

For our final food crawl leg, we were hailed with much gusto' by it's shy-looking, but very helpful crew.  They become more good looking each time they smile :) The pop food portal inside the QC Circle is just few meters away from one of it's main gate. We just loosened our waist belt, but the inner carnivore'in us yet strikes anew thus we can't help, but to fill it some more. One of my peers who patrons the resto' did earlier make a positive feedback which triggers the website in me. Pancit Buko is dedicated for vegan and is not (as for me) as promising as the ones I've tried. To make it swim with seafood, just add up P75. 9 peeps could party in one bilao for a costly rate of P675. Tip: aiming to take this home? don't wait for the next day or else the item is bound to spoil. Coco Okoy, on the other hand can endure it's tenure a couple of days. I brought some home, taste stays, but no, not the crunchiness. Made of veggie patties of coconut, carrots, green eans and sprouts. Theres nothing special with its taste, but soaking it to a spiced vinegar makes a difference. Pork sinigang sa buko no doubt is the store's all-time star. The organic pork was slowly cooked in coco water. Eggplants, string beans, tomato and white radish w/ tamarind has perfected the pinoy meal. Rich broth and flavorful! (my chair turns for this!) The place is dimly lighted, so photos should be taken with flash to make them vivid. Resto's interior suggests an extension nest for love birds for it's romantic (or was it gloomy) mood. Tables are flexible for foursome or groupies. The premise' touch of color green injects a relaxing ambience before the naked eyes while some single seating chairs promotes a a retro vibe. The store also advocates beauty & grooming products made out of coconut tree wonders in exhibit beside the counter. A bit quite pricey compare to major stores. Miight be genuine. From dusk till dawn, the haven becomes a lovers lane but then again the portal's for the whole family. i'd like to try their sweets next time. #zomatoph #lacarnitaph #marikinawebsites

QC Circle is just one of the places you can enjoy walking, jogging, riding a bike or having a picnic, hanging out with friends while appreciating the weather and nice view of the trees.Little do they know, there is a restaurant at the heart of the QC Circle called the Coconut House. We found this place back when we used to buy fresh and organic veggies at the market area. When we got hungry, we strolled around the park searching for nice place to eat and everything looked normal, the canteens, convenient stores, some restos but, Coconut house caught our attention so we went in immediately and found out that they serve the famous Coconut (isn't that a coincidence?) as part of their dishes. Since then, I have been going back to this place because of the pancit buko and the coconut ice cream which are my favorites. On our visit along with fellow foodies, we had these 4 dishes:1. Coco Okoy - delicious veggie patties of coconut, carrots, green beans and sprouts dipped in spiced coconut vinegar. This one I'd rate 4/5. I loved the veggies and using coconut as meat instead of the usual so it is easy to munch and really perfect wih the vinegar.2. Pancit Buko - fresh coconut strips sauteed with crisp veggies in savory coconut soy sauce. (Optional - you can add seafood toppings or you can order a Bilao). This is 5/5 for me because using coconut meat as the pancit gives a unique texture and richness in flavor and seasoning topped with the crisp veggies. Extraordinary!3. Bangus Belly Salpicao - seasoned bangus fried in coconut oil served with salpicao de coco sauce. This is 5/5. The bangus belly is my favorite part of the bangus so it is a plus factor and the coconut sauce is just perfect compliment for the bangus.4. Pork Sinigang sa Buko - organice pork slowly cooked in coconut water with eggplant, string beans, tomato and white raddish with tamarind. 4/5 for me. I love that they use the buco juice and tamarind plus the tomato to create that sour sinigang taste. Surely a pinoy favotire. There are lots of recipes on their menu where you can choose from and I can guarantee that you will love coconut even more by trying these.

Ah, coconuts. Who knew they could make very delicious meals aside from the usual gata? At Coconut House, it’s coconut everything. For this visit, we tried a few of their twists on Pinoy classic dishes. The Coco Okoy is a patty made of vegetables and coconut, which will delight vegetarians. The coconut lends a nice texture to people missing the meat. It is chewy and quite savory. The Pork Sinigang sa Buko is quite an interesting dish as well. The pork slow-cooked in coconut water with the tamarind as the souring agent is delicious and makes it more full-flavored especially with the other vegetables like the slightly bitter radish, the eggplant, string beans and fruity tomato. One of their more creative dishes that really work is the Pansit Buko, with the young coconut as the noodle component to the dish. It has a nice snap when you bite into the coconut noodle and the other vegetables complement the dish. You can order this by the bilao and also topped with seafood if you want more meat. Overall, it’s a great restaurant to visit if you want to find out just how creative they are with the coconut. Do balance your orders because while it is delicious, too much of a good thing can easily lead to “umay”.

The concept is very interesting which have made us decide to come out of curiosity.  We used to love the place within the Quezon Circle.  Wide Life, Trellis (which we haven't seen for decades), the expanse of grass and trees , the park is a landmark.  Coconut House is situated here.  Now, this place looks like had seen better days. When the tiange sprouted, I don't think it helped the House at all.We ordered liempo, okoy, daing, sinigang pork belly and yellow rice. The liempo is tasty but it came in small portion.  Sinigang is tasty and actually is the best of all we ordered for the day.  It has eggplant, sitaw, onions and generous portions of pork belly.  You can really taste the coconut in the soup. It is also the most expensive at 365P.  Daing is just right, although, we forgot to ask for the head part.  The okoy is a complete disappointment.  It is a blob of flour with coconut shreds and taste very bland.  If only it has any meat, it could be more interesting. The solo performer is a above average.
