I am so charmed by Chef Mo. I laughed at the LCD screen playback of a burning fireplace at the entrance of their restaurant, placed under their sign, but hey, it set up the mood! We entered, and The Commodores' "Easy" was wafting off an old turntable in mellow, velvet tones. What a great way to start off lunch. It's a small place, decorated log cabin style. Bring in maybe five groups, and the place will be full, so we were lucky we visited on a Friday morning.Their ribs are cut "country style," from a higher part of the rib loin, which means you get less pieces with a lot more meat to them; a good portion is two, which is what they gave us. We tried and enjoyed some very tasty salt and pepper ribs and bbq ribs - and a heavenly carbonara with a perfectly soft boiled egg placed on top. They do a nice job of offering a variety of sidings to their ribs, but they are just okay instead of enhancing the dishes they accompany - for instance, sticky mashed potatoes (overworked, usual problem), and cheesy, but generally unremarkable, mac and cheese.Nevertheless, Chef Mo is a wow for because of the overall experience. Maginhawa raised the stakes, but is losing on bets; it needs more restaurants like this to up the wow factor.I also can't wait to go back and hear more of their records play. The digital generation needs to hear the difference. Analog is better. It just is.Mickey. Alvin Ong | TFC Michelle Ann China Yu Dennis Carlson Lim | TFC

Had lunch here and was maybe a bit unlucky because there was a big group dining with us, so our food was served quite late.Chili fries were so-so... Certainly not the best in town but acceptable - nice spicy flavor, a lot of beans, but the potato wedges were a little too soft because of the soupy consistency of the chili 'sauce'. The ribeye steak was cooked, err wrongly? I asked for medium but what I got was a very well done outer part of the steak and a rare central part. Mashed potatoes were ok, sauce was good... All in all, this was not worth its price. The hickory smoked ribs were good! The sauce was yummy, the serving was big (for someone not starving), meat was tender. The mac and cheese was a big letdown though, probably the worst mac and cheese I've tried to date. The servers were very attentive and courteous, they're mostly why I gave the 3/5 😉 Ambience was good, they were playing beatles via a record player! The acoustics of the room were great, considering we were dining with a relatively noisy big group!

Came here for the first time last 12.11.15 and as soon as we were walking in, we were greeted and seated. We ordered the Hickory Smoked Ribs and the Peppered Ribs since those two were the most ordered dishes here. I had high expectations for the brag they get but I wasn't going with high hopes so I wouldn't get heart broken. LOL.Chef Mo's Ribs completely blindsided me. Nice and tender, you can pull it off the bone so easily! I also appreciate that the Hickory BBQ sauce was just the right amount and didn't overpower the ribs. (Don't lie, you know your mouth is watering right now.)Side orders, we got potato wedges, mashed potato, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was a bit bland and could use a little more salt to bring out the flavor. I ended up going with the potato wedges which I enjoyed so much. Oh, and you gotta try Chef Mo's Carbonara! IT WAS DELISH! I usually never order white sauce at restaurants but this was perfectly executed! Pasta perfectly cooked, sauce was creamy and buttery, and served with freshly cracked egg. Major plus! Overall everything tasted pretty good! Left with a happy belly and I will definitely be back to try other menu items!#ZomatitosxZomatitas #mickeyyyscrawl

First time to visit, chose the place for a lil gathering with our team since it's Christmas season. Unfortunately, an incident happened. The owner of the place wasn't really nice. If you are the owner, learn to talk to your customers nicely since we haven't done anything wrong. A wonderful night turned into a disaster. Thanks to the "Chef" owner of the place.

Last 2 weeks we had a food crawl with my favorite foodies :) I'M LATE! :( Upon entering the door, I can really feel the ribhouse-steak-ish vibes! The ambiance was really nice and very cozy. Since I'm late, I am the last one who didn't eat yet :| They saved the last piece of ohh so good ribs for me. HUHU so sweet! THE RIBS IS SO GOOD! Tender, flavorful and  it was fall-off-the-bone ribs! YUMMY. I ate the whole slab HAHAHA. Overall, I REALLY ENJOYED MY RIBS :) I'll come back for more! :p~Follow @CHEFFYMITCHYU on Instagram for more food photos and to discover new restaurants in the metro.#ZomatitosXZomatitas

Chef Mo's was our first restaurant in our Maginhawa crawl. The place looks small and housed in a bldg together with Catabolic Cafe and Angus Tapa Centrale. It may not look as welcoming and vibrant as the others, its interiors gives off an old, classic look where wood is the majority of the interiors. They even have a record player which one can play a label. So it specializes in ribs, they either smoke or grill it. The kitchen has a glass window that shows their smoker and grill inside.Salt and Pepper ribs is tender and flavorful. It highlights the savory taste of the pork without flooding it with bbq sauce that flushes everything. BBQ Ribs has the same texture as the salt and pepper, it was just basted in their bbq sauce. Nice sweet and tangy ribs that has the right amount of sauce and is balanced.Pasta Carbonara is one of my highlight for this trip. This is the only exception for all the carbonara i've tasted. It's not your usual cream and bacon sauce. It has a nice buttery, cream sauce topped with raw egg yolk just before serving. The yolk will thicken and be incorporated in the sauce after tossing with the noodles. It was just perfect.Buffalo Wings Texas Style was coated in a butter-hot sauce mixture. It was slightly sweet with a hint of heat. It wasn't what I was expecting for a buffalo wings. Anyways, everybody has their own version, but for me it didn't have a kick for a buffalo wings. Each ribs was served with a side dish.Mashed potato was homemade and a bit waxy. It is because of our inconsistent supply of potatoes. We doesn't have a classification for a waxy or starchy potatoes in the market. I prefer the mashed made from dehydrated potatoes because of its fluffiness.Mac & Cheese was on the buttery side instead of cheesier. It was a bit dry, meaning lack of sauce that coats the macaroni. Coleslaw was crunchy, sweet, and a bit runny. It was good that it doesn't have too much mayonnaise that would clump everything and would just taste like mayo.Chef Mo's needs a little improvement on their sides and other stuffs. Overall, the whole place was warm and welcoming on the inside. I love their boldness to bring in a smoker and smoke ribs with hickory woodchips. I salute chefs like him that would do anything to replicate flavors from their origins and not sacrifice with substitute. I expect them to smoke briskets, pulled pork, and other southwestern stuffs soon. As they say, Quality over Quantity will go a loonnngggggg way.

Great interiors and and props to the fake fireplace outside. Waiters are nice and attentive and they place an entire pitcher of water on your table so you don't have to keep calling them for refills. Cozy place perfect for dates or if you just want comfort food all by yourself. Their ribs with rice and 2 sides are big enough for 2 people to leave room for another dish to share and/or dessert. Warning: their barbecue sauce is a bit too salty so you'll wanna eat more rice with those ribs.Seems like a nice place. Definitely coming back to try their other stuff.

We tried BBQ and Peppered ribs, both are good! Served with rice, plus you have choices for side dishes. We loved how the place felt cozy, they have nice interiors, mirrors on the walls and the crew were polite.

A few weeks ago, me and my girlfriend eyed this restaurant and considered one of the restaurants to try in our weekly quests in looking for restaurants in Maginhawa. After much anticipation, we were able to meet up and got to the restaurant last Nov 25. Upon entering the restaurant, the interior was beautiful and gave it a homey feel. The servers are attentive and accommodating and it definitely gave me a good first impression. After the dining staff gave the menu, I was already imagining how the food would taste like as I saw items like "Salmon wellington in Tarragon sauce" and "Peppered Ribs". Our order arrived and I was at awe when I saw my order, the Cordon Bleu was huge and I saw my girlfriend's Peppered Ribs and I must say, for the price of the food, it was already worth it for me considering the portion given. Upon tasting said food, I was really happy to be able to eat here and spend time here. I would recommend this place to my friends as it has attentive and accommodating dining staff and awesome food to pair, creating a dining experience that will surely not disappoint. I would definitely be back to try out the other items in the menu :)
