Every time my balikbayan friends go home I always make sure that I bring them at the Blacksoup. I always brag about mango turon. I also love the place it's very homy. Just make sure to check their Facebook page or here at website before going there to check if they are open. Must try: lambchop meal, hot balut, cabcab (squash chips) and MANGO TURON :D:D

I celebrated my 19th birthday last Sept. 1, 2014 at Blacksoup Cafe + Artspace. Their food was awesome. And the place was so relaxing. I loved it ???? But its a bit hard to find the place though.

Upside: Art overload, interesting interior, very accomodating staff, if ur an 80's to pre 90's kid 1 word "Batibot" (Kuya Bojie) youll know what i mean when yot get there, Fairly priced food list with an expensive feel but very satisfactory outcome, must try: you won't be single for long (pasta), lambchop with asparagus, cabcab (chips) if available, hot balut and manggo turon (drools).Downside: First timers and if your unfamiliar with the area you might find it hard to find the place (adventure time), place at times can get crowded when events are scheduled so check their schedule for the week, limited table and seating capacity, good food takes time and parking is always close to none (again be adventurous).

Food 3/5We ordered rice meals and pasta. The price of their rice meals is kinda pricey and the taste is canteen level only. On the other note, the pasta taste good and have a huge amount of serving. Facility 4.5The ambiance is perfect for reading a book while sipping a coffee. The place is retro themed from the front door to the cr with cool music. They also have a piano that customers can freely use!Service 2/5 The server were not very friendly. I'm not quite sure but they gave us wrong change. We thought it was service fee but it is not written on the receipt. Price: 120-300 php

This quaint artspace is tucked inside a garden compound along Maginhawa Street. It sits with another concept restaurant beside it. Upon entering Blacksoup Cafe + Artspace one will immediately notice the artsy vibe (that's why it was called an artspace, duh) with how things are put together. One can also appreciate how they carefully planned in setting up tables each with a fresh orchid in full bloom, or an anthurium, or white temple flowers. At the far end of the restaurant you can find a black piano that only tells the incoming guests that the place is also meant for musical gatherings of some sort, and yes they sometimes would have Tori Amos nights. Just not quite sure if they now also cater to Taylor Swift aficionadosFood would be typical and by that I mean typical pasta-and-sandwich menu, typical serving, typical plating and presentation. They do have other interesting choices but the word 'interesting' is used subjectively here. For quiet, more personal moments, one can opt to sit outdoor al fresco. After all, it can get really noisy indoor considering the people who flock the place come in groups or are from the same tightly-knit cliques. The place is nice and all and surviving but I won't be surprised either if it met its demise.
