Two Saturdays ago, V finally had her rest day on a weekend, so we decided to meet up. Since we were both on "tipid" mode that day, we thought of a place that is both accessible and the food is affordable, and we thought of Ally's.Ally's is an all-day breakfast place that had its first branch in Maginhawa a couple of years ago, during the time when Maginhawa was just starting to become known as a website destination. I remember eating there with plenty of my college friends, since the food is cheap and delicious. When we got to the Cubao Manhattan branch of Ally's, we were surprised that it wasn't packed, despite it being a Saturday lunch time. 😣 When we went in, I immediately noticed how dim the place is. So much for a breakfast place. 🤷Here's what we got for lunch:✅ For me: DAING NA BANGUS MEAL (Php 185) - ⭐⭐⭐I have recently grown a liking for bangus, so I decided to get this vs the usual beef tapa / tocino. 😊 I remember their breakfast meals having big serving sizes, two eggs, and a hot cup of garlic rice. When my food was served, I immediately noticed the following: 1. There is only one egg yolk, meaning, they used just one egg!!! 😭 2. The bangus looked a bit burnt. It was big, yes, but burnt. 3. The salsa was just around 1 tablespoon worth. Talk about frugality! 😅 Anyway, so when I took a bite, I was expecting to be hit with nostalgia... It never came. 🙃 It was an okay meal, and it was cheap, but I expected more from this meal. The fish was quite dry, and not as flavorful as I'd hoped.✅ For V: GRILLED CHEESE AND SAUSAGE (Php 245) - ⭐⭐⭐V wanted waffles, so she chose this. The sausage looked juicy and meaty, and it really was. It was slightly spicy, but I liked how it burst with flavor, and is a nice meat to pair with the waffles. The waffles though, weren't as fluffy as we thought. It also didn't have a crisp exterior, making the entire waffle slightly soggy. The supposed mozzarella cheese didn't seem like mozzarella. 😅I also got annoyed at one of the servers at how unprofessional he is with the way he talked to us. The all-day breakfast meals come with a drink, but I forgot that the only options were just coffee / iced tea. He informed me that the coffee is unavailable, so it's either iced tea or hot chocolate. I chose hot choco, then, as he was repeating the orders, he said, "Ma'am plus 60 itong hot choco ah." I just cancelled it. Why didn't he just mention that earlier, right? 🤔Also, I noticed their off duty staff kept on making tambay at the tables supposedly meant for customers, lounging around. While it's okay to stay there since the restaurant wasn't that full, I hope they wouldn't act as if they're in the comforts of their homes. 😐 Most of them also kept on huddling at the counter area. 😕Ambiance was quite gloomy and didn't seem like a breakfast place. Not sure how dark it will be during the night. It was an okay experience, for old times' sake. But I've had better experiences with Ally's before. How I miss their original branch in Maginhawa! 😢#EatDrinkSplurge

The waffles was okay but the place smelled like burnt paper and the smell made it hard to stay. Right after staying for a few minutes the burnt smell got stuck to my clothes.

To end the day with a positive note... we had to fill and satisfy our hungry tummies. We are sooo happy we ended up in this place...breakfast food is always a good idea to cap of the day (and night). We ordered Hungarian sausage, Daing na bangus and Tocino. The breakfast meal comes with egg and coffee or iced tea. The food is really good even the garlic rice tastes delicious. Yum yum yum. They also have bagnet which is one of their best sellers (no egg, coffee/iced tea though) We also ordered 2layered pancakes, White chocolate strawberry. I didnt find or taste the white chocolate, which is good coz im not allowed to chocolates. It has almonds sprinkled on top and vanilla ice cream with sweetened strawberry...whole strawberries not sliced. fluffy classic pancakes. its really good. The place smells like smoke when you enter but tolerable. The place is clean and service is fast. Waiters are also pleasant.Overall experience is 2 thumbs up. definitely yummy in the tummy.

I was craving for bacon and pancake one evening so I asked my husband to have dinner at Ally’s All Day Breakfast. When we came, they have few diners so we’re assisted as soon as we came in. I ordered Bacon of course & my husband ordered Sausage and I added pancake with bacon on the side. Okay naman our orders. Nothing really spectacular about it. Pancake was okay, di ganun ka-fluffy. Price? Not worth it. Place & Ambiance was good. The place was very spacious and very dainty.

Self service pala dito. Ako kumuha ng condiments ko at busy sa celfone ung waiter nyo. Pati kubyertos ako pa kumuha. For a 185 peso breakfast, daig pa kayo ng tapsi ni vivian

Ally’s is such an underrated breakfast place! This is my top 1 pancake in the metro. It’s outside is a bit crunchy (slightly toasted) while its inside is super soft! Love how well the strawberry jam goes with the white chocolate. Tip, you can request for additional white chocolate without additional cost! 💕

Came here for brunch after we checked out in our airbnb. I ordered their adobo flakes and death by chocolate while hubby ordered sisig and classic french toast. I ordered additional cheese, bacon and tomato omelette for my kiddos. I really love their death by chocolate, it was super chocolatey and the pancake was soft and not dry. My kids loved it was well. The adobo flakes was the classic chicken adobo and they just shredded it. I am expecting an adobo flakes like the one in goto tendon which was dry and flaked, not shredded. Taste wise, it was okay naman. My hubby liked his french toast but not the sisig. He likes his sisig kasi na fried and crispy (like the one in sisig hooray), medyo malansa kasi parang it was undercooked or what. Omelette was good as well, we liked it and it’s cheesy as well. Rice meals comes with free iced tea which is a plus.
