I enjoy checking out small, independent, make-their-own burger places. I am always curious about what enterprising individuals can come up with to make their food business stand out.The Grub is a burger kiosk that offers customized burgers. The menu is simple and the prices are affordable. And as for their burgers – I like them! The Grub offers quarter pounder and half pounder patties. However, we ordered the Gourmet Burgers, which only included quarter pound patties.I ordered the French Revolution (P110), while J ordered the Mozzarella, Bacon & Mushroom Melt (P145). We were told that these were the bestselling items. While waiting, we talked with the staff and found out that The Grub grinds their own beef. I liked the sound of that! There have been many times in recent memory, when supermarket-bought ground meat disappoints by having small bits of bone, cartilage and ligaments ground up with it, which could result in cracked teeth or worse, if one is not careful. This has become so bad that I am seriously considering buying a meat grinder to start grinding meat myself.Finding out that The Grub grinds its own meat makes me feel safer knowing that The Grub cares about maintaining quality. It may be a small operation, but it shows that they care enough about quality to grind their own meat.Check out the pictures of our burgers being prepared. We also got a bottle of The Grub Tea (P30) each. This is The Grub’s own brew. It is made with brewed tea with a bit of orange juice, I think. I like that The Grub makes their own iced tea and doesn’t use powdered mixes. They were served very cold, icy even, which was nice. Here’s the French Revolution (see pic) – a quarter pound beef patty with caramelized onions, potato chips, cheese, lettuce, rosemary aioli / sriracha mayo. Here’s the Mozzarella, Bacon & Mushroom Melt (see pic) – a quarter pound beef patty with bacon, sliced mushrooms, mozzarella, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and dressings. Of the two, we liked the French Revolution best. It was simpler, but to us, more delicious. It was a very delicious mix of sweet, spicy and savory. The rosemary aioli sriracha mayo really adds a punchy flavor overall, the caramelized onions I hardly noticed except I knew they added some sweetness, which I liked, and the potato chips! The potato chips, although just ordinary potato chips, added a nice crunch to every bite. Both burgers were good overall. I like the soft bun. The beef patties also did not have any ligaments or other things that shouldn’t be there. They were just pure ground beef, and were soft and juicy.SUMMARYI quite like The Grub’s burgers, and at P110 for the French Revolution, I find it good value for the price. It is very different than the generic fast food burger, and so much better, considering that they are in the same price range. They also have many ongoing promos where you can save a little by ordering some sort of combo of burger with drinks. The Grub seems to be a popular take-out place for people who work or live nearby. If you happen to be near Pearl Drive, try The Grub’s burgers. They also deliver via delivery services like website’s Online Ordering / Quick Delivery.

I was first introduced to this place by a friend when they opened in the Taft area and it had been my go to place whenever I visited the area. The burger is juicy and tasty. The home-brewed iced tea definitely something not to miss out on. I also recommend the japaleños for that added kick in your dining experience! Kudos to you The Grub!

Awesome burgers made fresh. A staple in my daily office break. Burger customization is key for the customer experience. #happycamper #thegrubph

If you're looking for great-tasting burgers and happen to be around Ortigas, don't hesitate to walk to Pearl Plaza. Seriously, it's worth the walk and back to wherever you came from. I come from the other side of the area (ADB Ave, *ehem*) so the calories are gonna burn themselves. Or not. Anyway, upon arrival, I was sweaty with droplets streaming down my forehead. With no hesitation, I said "French Revolution plus Grub Tea." I reviewed their menu beforehand. I told them I have work at 5 and arrived there at 4:35. They had many order in just ten minutes with time to spare. The ladies who prepare your burgers are really friendly, and they don't mind chatting up while making your Grub. They packed the food neatly along with my drink, and off I went. I have no pictures of the food but the stall is not the kind that you'd immediately think is cheap. Heck, you'd think it's a mini food truck. I had the burger as soon as I sat down my desk and boy, oh, boy. The patty is flavorful, the sweetness of the caramelized onions oddly gives the spicy, herby dressing and bitter mustard the complementary kick. As soon as I finished it, I felt like I just had my first taste of Crack. So, guess what I'll be having almost every day? Oh, go have their Grubtea too. It's honey-calamansi and it's very refreshing. You'd really distinguish that tea aftertaste that you don't get from powdered teas.
