Taco Vengo is a part of that website hangout of a compound along United Street across Ace Water Spa. I've been going here to down heavy stuff--- Burritos and rice meals. The place is a 40 seater (28 inside, 12 for the smoking area) on my count. There's Tacos, Burritos, Rice meal versions of the first two mentioned, a good list of drinks plus locally crafted beers, Nachos, and you've got a really nice place to satisfy your mexican food cravings. We just looveee them carbs and spice!  The  Shrimp Tempura variants on the menu come in recommended by the staff so give those a try before going back to your normal chicken and beef choices of those burritos and tacos. Recommended place for websites! Avante!

Ever since my office moved to Fort, I hardly get to visit Kapitolyo, my favorite website haven. But thanks to the long weekend, I got to visit this lovely area again and managed to visit not just one but three stops. Our first stop was the raved taco place named Taco Vengo!Hello, Taco Vengo!I have been looking forward to visit this place after reading all those positive reviews and seeing mouthwatering photos of tacos. And the place being Instagram-worthy makes it even more irresistible. The place is part of the small compound where Nav and Longganisa Sorpresa are located. Though the restaurant does not have frontage, you could easily spot it thanks to its signage alongside the more established food stops. Taco Vengo!'s menu is not that extensive but since I'm a newbie, I asked for recommendations and I was told that their best seller is the Shrimp Taco (PHP110 for 1 taco; PHP210 for 2 tacos). I ordered two of that and one Steak Taco (PHP110) and Cheese Quesadillas (PHP120). I was tempted to make my steak taco into a rice bowl but the server said that their fillings are best served with soft tacos. The place has the word "taco" in its name after all. I also got a glass of house blend iced tea while my sister went with a can of soda. First served was the saddest looking quesadilla I have ever seen. It was so flat and it looked like it was just a piece of folded thick tortilla. And it tasted just like pita. The cheese filling was too mild and there was a very, very faint taste of cheese. The sour cream helped give a bit more flavor though. My iced tea arrived next and it tasted...weird. It had a strong herb-y taste which I didn't like at all.Next served were the shrimp and steak taco. They only served one shrimp taco instead of two and I didn't bother to correct it anyway thinking that the server just got the quantity wrong. But after tasting it, I sort of regretted not calling the server's attention. The shrimp (or tempura) taco deserves to be named as Taco Vengo!'s best seller. It was a delightful mix of textures and flavors. I loved how the softness of the taco created a wonderful contrast with the crunchy shredded vegetables, flakes and tempura (which seemed to be more of camaron rebusado). It was salty with a tinge of sweetness from the veggies. Adding a bit of lemon juice gave the dish a nice zest, a wonderful addition to most seafood. The steak taco, which has chipotle, is not mild at all. It was spicy! But it was the spicy yet bland type so I looked for sauce to pair it with and I spotted a bottle of sauce that claims to go well with everything. I accidentally poured more than I wanted and instead of trying to pat my steak dry of the sauce, I just let it be and took another bite. It was way better but I turned red because it made my taco spicier. At least it tasted a lot better. To kill the spice, I finished the quesadillas and sour cream in less than 1 minute. After finishing our meals, I asked for the bill and I was actually billed for two shrimp tacos. To prove that I didn’t get the second one, I showed a photo of our orders. The server said that the second taco is being prepared (riiiiiight) but since my sister and I were ready to move to our next stop, I asked the server to just cancel it and deduct it from my bill. The server complied without any hesitation. Not sure if I’ll head back here as the only one I liked was the shrimp taco. I heard though that the nachos are great. Perhaps I’ll give it a second chance.

🐽 Food: A friend of mine suggested the Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl. I wasn't at all disappointed. It's something I'd come back for. 🍹Drinks: They have several beers to choose from. 🍴Ambiance: Very cute and hipster. The noise (voices of people) are bouncing inside though. Can't seem to hear each other clearly.👫 Service: Food was served quickly. The cashier had a bit of an attitude though. I ordered an item and decided to change it. Turns out she already wrote it down and her face clearly showed she was annoyed. It was only about 5-10 seconds interval when I decided to change my order. Maybe management should teach the staff to be more pleasant. 💸 Price: I realized that I ordered the most expensive item on their menu but very much worth it!

One of the hidden food destinations in Kapitolyo. We went here after spending time in Ace Water Spa (just across the road) for a simple Tex-Mex birthday dinner. The interior of the restaurant looks a lot like a small canteen w/ rather nondescript-looking tables and chairs. The place was clean & a/c was supercool, though. We ordered Nachos for Machos & a Pork Cheek Confit Burrito (we decided to share it). I loved their nachos! Crispy corn tortillas topped with salsa and a supergenerous topping of melted mozzarella (i LOVE cheese!) and a dollop of sour cream. It was too yummy that I wished there was more. The burrito was delicious also, first time I got to try a burrito that had bbq-d pork cheeks haha. It was nice, almost as yum as my favorite Army Navy carnitas burrito. ❤ Will come back to try the Chwaffle.

I like the hipster (I hate using this word) vibe of the place. It's a actually a container van turned restaurant. How very "hipster." Usong uso. Anyway, the food is good. Really flavorful, tasty and colorful. One taco is bitin, so I order two. I like the beef and the shrimp. You'll probably spend P400ish. Pero, go! This place is worth a try.

Everyone loves a good taco. This place does it really well. Their sisig, shrimp and salmon tacos are my top 3 with a good spin on it. It's a bit pricey vs your usual taco but it's all good Their steak quesadilla and burritos are good stuff as wellChuaffle: yup waffle and churro. No doubt no doubt!!!!! Overall good stuff

It was our first stop on a recent trip to Kapitolyo. I still have lots of food establishments to explore in this area. I wish it was as convenient to come and park in this food hub. Their place didn't have an apt ambiance for a Mexican restaurant. Its neighbor, Crunchy Crab with the same structure did a superb job with the space they had. We had three types on this review. Asian Slaw Tofu Taco, Honey Soy Chicken Burrito and Bacon Jam Quesadillas. We could have had nachos but they had it on burrito. And since I love avocado, a Php 95 Guacomole was added in our mix. I say 3.0 because a thing or two were wrong in each dish. Taco was too greasy, Burrito had too much rice and missing meat. Quesadillas lacked excitement. Too much cheese, hard cheese at that. I say 3.0 because there were also plus points. Generally food was presented creatively, different flavors and distinct taste.

I don't know about some of the negative reviews of the food. I grew up eating Northern Mexico and Tex/Mex food in the States. Ive been to Mexico over 20 times, from northern Mexico to the Yucatan penninsula and everywhere in between. This food is excellent.Let's start with: Taco Vengo is a brilliant take in Tex/Mex. New tastes applied to old standards. Tacos, Burritos, Nachos, Quesadilla are Tex/Mex....with a twist. Pork Cheek Comfit, Orange Chipotle Steak, Honey Soy Chicken are some of the flavors. We had several different versions of the tacos, an Orange Chipotle Steak burrito, Honey Soy Chicken rice bowl, Pork Cheek Comfit quesadillas. The tacos are made, unlike Taco Bell, with maize soft tortillas. The Orange Chipotle Steak and Pork Cheek Comfit recipes were innovative, very small, piled high with a wonderful combination of tastes. My only complaint is that they are too small. The burrito was excellent. My only complaint is that they use rice, like the big US chain, Chipotle, to skimp on the other ingredientsEverything else was very good, except foe the refried mung beans. Anyone making refritos should understand the interplay between the pinto beans and the lard used to refry them. This chef obviously doesn't, they were dry and tasteless, not savory at all.My primary complaint is the price of the tacos. While they are delicious and savory and freshly made, they are very small and they are. 110-125 php each.I highly recommend their menu and will come here again.

This is one of the always jam packed restaurants in the Alley. I tried their Nachos and was surprised that it was served on a hot plate! Plus, it was my first time to eat a nachos with an egg on it! I was expecting that the egg will make the nachos more yummier but it did not. The beef on it was too oily but tastes good. My boyfriend tried their burritos. I tried it as well and it was not that tasty. I think it lacks salt and pepper because the taste was so blunt. What I liked about their resto is that they are serving different local beers. I would go back next time to try some beers and try their quesadillas. :)

The restaurant is very small and they have limited seating so be prepared to wait. We ordered the 6-Layer Dip nachos to share and it was the bomb! We also ordered the BLT (Beef, Lengua, Tripe), Pork Cheek Confit, Tempura Shrimp, Grilled Salmon, and Savory Mushroom Tofu.I must say, this place has one of the best shrimp tacos and I'm dying for one right now as I'm writing this. The BLT taco was very tasty and flavorful and the sauce was just on point. It was one of the highlights of the meal and truly a crowd favorite. For dessert, we ordered the Chwaffle a la Mode (Churros and Waffle Hybrid) and it was heaven. The Horchata was another highlight of the meal. Man was it so tasty! It's almost as good as the one I had in Los Angeles. I would come back just to order that horchata again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a good experience an dI can't wait to come back.
