What an unfortunate experience!  I have been overly patient with this "establishment".  Having paid - in advance - for meals,  every meal has been THE WORSE EVER!  Food ALWAYS SERVED COLD!  Food on buffet seems to be LEFT OVERS from previous days.  Greasy, poorly prepared, very poor quality.  Sliced fruit smells, looks & tastes bad because it has been in the ref and allowed to be  co-contaminated with other food, probably uncovered. Rice under cooked!Interestingly, both television monitors on the walls are playing the "Food Channel" which shows HOW TO  prepare, cook and store food properly.  The OWNERS , MANAGEMENT and STAFF would benefit greatly, if THEY WOULD WATCH and LEARN, from the TV show that their customers see while in their establishment.I would NOT RECOMMMEND - MARIO'S  - to anyone!

It was a monthsary morning date with my boyfriend. Since I was craving for some paella and it was still early in the morning he opted to bring me to this place. It was our first time and why not give it a try.Upon entering, the buffet table welcomed us on the side. Then the waiter greeted us and let us sit on the farthest end of the place nearest the kitchen even there available tables somewhere in the middle. Then after handing us the menu, he asked if we are walk ins since most of the people eating were hotel guests. We said yes and offered us the buffet breakfast for P350. Well nothing wrong with that but I was just wondering why he offered us the farthest seat from the buffet table and then offered us that buffet meal. Can you imagine how inconvenient it would be for us? Good thing we have something else in mind to eat.Although paella was one reason why boyfie picked this place for us, we gave ourselves time to think which food to order since the pictures in their menu were quite enticing to our tastebuds. Still we ended up ordering their Paellita which comes in two kinds: Classic Valenciana and Seafood Negra. And then with an added fee, we chose the perfect toppings for this flavored glutinous rice. Boyfie first picked the Calamares on Seafood Negra which I was also eyeing. But I let him cause I can always ask from him, haha. So I went for Twiced Cooked Adobo on Classic Valenciana. For our drinks, I have to ask what available fruits they have for fresh fruit shakes and boyfie will have his iced tea. That was all for breakfast plus a Chunky Shrimp Bisque Soup. After placing our order, we were amazed by the response. Only the iced tea was available. Seriously? Yes! So alright, we were inside and not much resto near the place was open so we try a second round of order. So this time boyfie settled for Grilled Salmon Head + Ensaladang Talong with bagoong, mine was Salpicon de Mar y Tierra, changed our soup to New England Clam Chowder since it's the only one available, and finally they said they can make me either watermelon or mango shake and I go for the mango. Then the server went back and seriousy told us that the Salpicon de Mar Y Tierr wss also not available because they don't have salpicao. I was about to lose my patience at this point but was trying to control cause other than the day was just starting, it was also our monthsary. My boyfriend noticed me and was trying to comfort me by helping me find a replacement. Good thing he was so cool that time and balanced the situation. I was now looking at the seafood section but I was afraid to be disappointed again if they will decline my order cause the lady server kept on enumerating what else they don't have. So I went back to the paellita and asked for the available combination they have. She repeated that the only ones available were the Deep-fried Bangus and Fish Fillet paired with Classic Valenciana (bangus and fish fillet is normally paired with the seafood negra in their menu). So I just go with the fried bangus on valenciana paellita. They first served us ice cold water which is good (that's one thing I like in the place cause I like the taste of their water). Then the clam chowder, which we somehow both liked, was served. Or we just naturally like clams cause we were not able to finish all of the soup. I don't know. Then drinks were served. In fairness I appreciate the red color design on my mango shake glass (got a photo of it). However, there were a few pieces of ice cubes in it. Ice were not smoothly crushed. The taste was not too sweet and I like it. Then finally the food arrived. I cannot give much comment about my boyfriend's salmon meal cause I focused on mine (let him share his own experience) though he shared some of his with me. Well nothing special with the paella. Although it was not bad, it's not something I will crave for. The bangus on top was the same - nothing special. And one thing I noticed, picture shows some green peas on the paella valenciana but I didn't find a single one on my plate (well I am attracted to food with peas for me to notice it. I was actually expecting to find one, haha). So that was all for the food experience.Overall, the price was just enough if only they were available. Cleanliness, oh not to mention, the table that they led us on still has some dry crumbs of leftovers. For the staff, I only like one male server who stood out with a happy tone. But the rest of the team? They seem to find it hard to smile. It was morning and I don't think they were that tired already. And before I forget, there is this one lady server whom I caught several times looking at me in a mataray manner. I don't know if that's her normal stare, but I don't appreciate why she keeps on staring.I don't think I will ever want to go back to this place. Not unless for some acceptable reasons. :) Kampay!

Trying this restaurant has been long overdue. I tried their Mini Chicken Kiev over Paellita Valenciana. My hubby tried the Mejillones con Chorizo. Since I am not a fan of extreme flavor and aroma, for me, the taste is just fine. I tried a bit of the other dish and I found it too salty for my liking. My hubby said otherwise. He said the saltiness is just right. As for the price, I think that it is a bit pricey given the serving of each dish.

A great spot for Sunday brunch! Cool breeze, few cars, and picturesque Ortigas Center without the busy workers. My favorite is their Vigan Longganisa, but the Bagnet Rice is so hard to resist! They have quite a large selection just like Pancake House, but their breakfast sets are always my favorite.
