I like this resto's take on Pork Sisig. It was served in big chunks and it tastes is delectably unique (seemed like it has coconut milk which is fine). The Kare-Kare, Ginataang Monggo and Crispy Pork Dinuguan is flavorful too and comes with luscious sauce. Satisfied with the dishes. As for the place it's neat and cozy. Good for a casual dine. 😋

The place for your sinful comfort food like sisig, crispy pata and kare kare. For a change we also tried rellenong talong, chopsuey, other veggies and they didnt disappoint. The dessert selection was not complete when we visited so there's still a reason to come back.

I was looking for a resto that looks so classy and affordable, so we try this Kuya J's restaurant. I love their Sinigang and special cebuano mango cheesecake, we tried also their lechon kawali which is very tasty. Thanks to my boyfriend who brought me into resto, I no longer have to go to a buffet because I am already happy with my new fave resto. I am really satisfied! thank you Kuya J restaurant...

Actually, for taste, service, innovation, and great service, i really like it here. The dishes are nice. In fact, it's a great place to bring friends from far away to experience Filipino cooking at its best. The sm Marikina branch was where I discovered how good their menu is. I think we've tried almost every item already being regulars. We know the staff by name, and in turn, they remember our quirks and preferences and accommodate us every possible way. And the bathroom there is very clean, which is a major consideration when i go out anywhere. Now, the SM hypermarket branch. Again, the food is consistently well made. The service great. But a real turnoff to the max were the flies. Not just your ordinary household flies, but huge giant bangaws. Flies that big indicate there's something dead or rotting somewhere nearby. I whined repeatedly about it (nicely of course) but tolerated it. Even with several candles already spread across the table, one right on the food plate, the bangaws were undeterred. God knows what its like in the kitchen when out in the guest area they buzz lazily and without fear. There is no excuse for the flies. Management should be reprimanded. I don't care to hear any excuses, flies and other pests can be systematically controlled. Lighting candles is a management failure to get to the root cause and nip the problem. Ok, ang haba na ng sinabi ko. I can't sleep and I can't stay awake. Needless to say, don't eat at this branch until they acknowledge and solve the problem. In the west, this place would be padlocked for fly infestation. Ok a@m tired of talking na.

At last, my family and I were able to find a branch that isn't too crowded. The place has a bright, warm and airy feel to it, helped no doubt by the warm lighting and light-colored shelves and mirror frames that surround the place. I chose a cozy corner table for me and my fam but cleanup took a while. Also, the food took more than 15minutes to arrive.I found the Nilagang Bulalo, Crispy Bagnet and the Sisig Rice adequate. However, the sinuglaw we ordered was left to wallow by itself after a fee token tastes.Kuya J's is good if you want no-frills Pinoy meals but I think you can easily get these flavors when you cook at home.

We ordered Crispy Pata, Crispy Catfish, Sinigang na Bangus, Relyenong Talong and Crab Rice Platter. The serving was good as well as the taste! I recommend to go eat here after lunch or before dinner hours since the queuing piles up. I gave a rating of 4 since there seems to be a lack of waiters; me and my family was lucky there were only a few customers so we easily got their attention when we needed to ask for extra water etc.

We weren't that impressed with the taste of their chicken barbecue (Php160) plus it wasn't worth the price. Garlic rice (Php40) was ok. Maybe there's a better dish on the menu.

Kuya J offers good filipino foods in which can be enjoyed even for kids because they also offer fried chicken. Their Bagnet Kare-Kare is a stand-out while their sisig is also good but not as good if you're expecting a Gerry's like taste. The halo-halo is also a stand-out with a very huge serving.

Kuya J has a number of branches and serves okay Filipino fare.Standout for us was the Kaldereta- really good Kapampangan style Kaldereta. Pancit Canton was ok, as was the Sinigang na Beef. Tortang Talong seemed to have a lot of flour added. Buko 9andan was creamy and yummy.
