Note: This review is long overdueIkkoryu Fukuoka Ramen. The name sounds like a mouthful and a bit difficult to say, like talking is while slurping ramen. Haha! Jokes aside, they seriously serve really good ramen. I have eaten at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen a few times, at several branches (BGC near home, or Estancia near work), and mostly always order the same food. Tantanmen Ramen and as a side/appetizer it’s the Uni Dip with Gyoza Chips that always grabs my website attention.Uni, it’s literally one of the best things that the ocean has to offer. I love its rich and briny taste. Raw or as a sauce, I will have it any way. IFR is the only place that I know that has it as a very generous dip portion with crunchy fried gyoza skins. The dip is amazing, uni on its own is creamy but has become creamier mixed in whatever else is in the dip (cream most probably). And the gyoza skins are so crunchy and flavorful. I really would take them home by the bag full and want them as my chips at home. The dip too, put them in a jar. A Japanese Tostitos replacement? Why not? Lol!As for the ramen, Tantanmen Ramen is my fave. I love spicy food, hence I love Szechuan spices and the way it plays and tingles on my tongue and taste buds. The broth was rich in meatiness (pork if my taste buds were correct), and full of flavor. Nothing really over powering. Everything in the bowl balanced well and complimented each other. The noodles too were perfect. Just the right amount of bite and give—not too chewy or soft. Slurping the noodles allowing all the flavors to slide on my tongue is a perfect ramen experience. Yes, slurp your ramen, it isn’t rude my websites, and considered a compliment and the correct way to eat ramen.SLURP! SLURP! SLURP! Then Mmm… are the sounds you will hear from me when I eat really good ramen. And yes, I surely always finish it all, down to the last noodle strand and broth drop. :)Food: 5.0 – I always finish every single bit of what I eat. Finger clean the plates. Lol!Service: 3.5 – It’s an on and off thing. Service not always consistent. Sometimes I wait short times for my orders, sometimes longer. The staff is always friendly though.Price: 4.0 – Price is doable. Quality, quantity, authenticity of food makes it worth it.Ambience: 4.5 – The place feels relaxing. Never felt the rush to eat my food. Clean and simple design as how the Japanese are. Now, I am so craving for IFR. Maybe even might double my Uni Dip order, take some home, and have awesome chips while watching a movie or series marathon. Is one takeout order enough? Hehe.

I remember this branch because of the staff who does not smile. I simply asked her to smile and she did. Practice malea perfect. As for the food, I only tried their ramen. Ebi ramen was great. The shrimp is real! I will return in this place.

I've always wanted to go to this place to try their ramen and I finally had a chance when I passed by Estancia on my way to Ortigas. I ordered the lunch set of Black Tonkotsu ramen with Karaage and it satisfied my craving taste buds. The ambiance and service was also good.

The ramen in this place gas deteriorated over time. This used to be my favorite ramen place. It's near my house and not too crowded. They offer lunch specials which is a bang for your buck as far as good ramen goes.My favirite is the black garlic ramen and that's what I always order. The last 2x a went here, their broth tastes bland. Unlike before, the broth was so flavorful you'd want to ask for more soup!Hope they can bring back the old quality. Hate to let this one go as one of my favorite ramen place

I was surprised I liked it. I read so many bad reviews about this place. Love that they have a lunch special, that comes with a bowl of ramen, a rice bowl with pork, and a small salad.

We got the Metrodeal here so it was 40% off. We needed to spend P2000 exactly on our order so we had to extra dishes.Gyoza was a little overcooked to my liking. One side was too soggy and the other almost burnt. Good flavor though.Chicken kaarage was perfect. Crispy, tender, and perfect complement to ramen. Ramen itself had a distinct pork flavor. Quite different from other ramen shops, I assume the salt here is assorted and mixed into the tare giving it a richer taste. Got extra tamago and chashu as well. Tamago was not cooked at six minutes as its yoke was not runny and glistening. Marinade for it was too salty. Pork was soft and easy to handle. It lacked flavor though so maybe some salt on it would have been best.Good service staff, attentive, and quick on the order. Recommended for any ramen lover.

Tried their set meals, had the spicy ramen, salad and karage. The broth the had a light kick of spice which was just right. The chicken crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The salad though, I wish there were more. But all of these for 299 Php plus Tax is already a good deal

Now, as you know, I visited the motherland of Ramen aka Japan. Some say I was there because I had to leave the Philippines for my work but in all actuality I was sent on a secret mission by the government to eat and review the best ramen I could find in Fukuoka. All of our lives depended on it. Kidding aside, let me tell you my tale.Fukuoka is a modern and vibrant place, the biggest city in Kyushu. It is made up of two formerly separate towns - Hakata and Fukuoka. Gastronomically speaking, Fukuoka is most famous for Fugu fish - a poisonous blow fish eaten only in winter. It is also known for Hakata Ramen, Gyoza and Mentaiko (spiced fish roe) normally eaten on top of white rice or mixed in pasta. Ikkoryu Ramen in Manila tried to bring one of Fukuoka's delicacies by opening its doors a few years back.Whenever I eat Ramen, I always go for the classic - Chasu. The broth was rich and highly concentrated with tender slices of pork belly and a perfectly soft boiled egg to accompany the silky noodles. It was a delicious dish and at only 380 pesos, it was also a bargain.I hope to continue my exploration of ramen in all nooks and crannies of the entire country. I can’t guarantee it will be soon but keep an eye out for reviews of many many many more ramen spots in the future. Just thinking about it gets me all excited and makes me drool a little. Until next time folks, eat your ramen and drink your saké. Itedekimasu!

Had their ramen, ebi yakimeshi, karaage, and ebi wanton. The ramen was really good and the broth was flavorful but the yakimeshi and karaage were a bit bland. Would recommend this place for ramen lovers

I haven't been a fan of ramen since having so much of it during its uncanny popularity around 3 years ago. We also use to operate one called Nomama and sold it later on to another restaurant owner. So every time I see this spot, even if I have been in this area often, I skipped it. Yesterday, I gave it a chance. Am glad they have a set menu featuring a smaller portion of your choice ramen (around half serving) with pan fried gyoza, salad and cold tea. The whole thing was only Php 328.90 with tax. I suggest having it for merienda like I did. They're regular ramen sizes retails Php 400 up. I got the Spicy Tonbanjan Tonkotsu. Sipping its spiced soup made me remember why I used to love ramen. Its soothing taste and aroma brought back memories. I specifically loved the pork. It was tender and extremely flavor filled. On the sides, the Pork Gyoza deserved thumbs up for its uncanny taste. I gulped down the three pieces all at once. The salad though was not a salad, it was fried whatever. You can skip that.
