Privileged to have been invited to a website meet up earlier at the Grove Rockwell. With a name like Asakusa, I naturally assumed that it must be an international franchise from Asakusa Japan....

Asakusa: Home of Tempura is inspired by the tempura house in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. They offer authentic Japanese Tempura.THE PLACEAsakusa: Home of Tempura is situated at The Grove by Rockwell in Pasig City. The restaurant is big enough to accommodate at least 30-40 pax. Its bright and Japanese theme interior add good vibes to the restaurant. THE FOODWe were served different Tempura Set. It all comes with Plain Rice, which we can upgrade to Fried Rice for Php48.00 or Hot Soba or Udon for Php68.00. All set comes with Free Iced too, add Php50.00 to upgrade for Unlimited.🍤 Shogun Set (Black Tiger Prawns) for Php368.00 (3 pcs) / Php578.00 (5 pcs) - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5"The tempura is big. And it was cooked lite and crispy. The batter used complements with the tempura sauce."🍤Uni Tempura for Php268.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5"Wow! I think I can finish the whole 6 pieces of uni tempura. It taste really good. It's so addicting."🍤Tuna Salad for Php208.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5🍤Salmon Salad for Php218.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"Both salad taste the same. The only difference is the raw fish topped on it. And it's a good pairing with tempura too."🍤California Maki for Php238.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5"I think it would be better if they can add more meat (sahog) and vegetable & mango for each roll."🍤 Chicken Karaage Teriyaki for Php288.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"Best paired with rice. It tends to be salty if the karaage alone."🍤Coffee Jelly for Php118.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5🍤Valrhona Chocolate Brownies with Green Tea Ice Cream - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5"Ice cream on both desserts taste good. It's a palate cleanser. But there's something in a brownie, (medyo matigas na), maybe it would be better if its fresh and soft."THE SERVICEThe owner and staff were very supportive. They provide assistance for all of us. They were attentive to our request.#ilovetoeatph 😃❤️China Ken Lingling Christina | Kain Club Norman | The Travelling Tongue FoodxTravel Honil Serrana Lara Alexa Retardo

Asakusa Home of Tempura is located at The Grove by Rockwell. It was named after the district in Tokyo which is Asakusa where a lot of restaurants specializes in tempura located. It is also where the couple learned the art of making Tempura. ❤️🍤Here are the dishes we've tried:Shogun set (Black Tiger Prawns) 3pcs. P368, 5pcs. P578 - Huugee Tempura with a batter that is light yet crunchy, though it may lack in a bit seasonings that's a no problem with their tempura sauce, you could choose between their traditional tempura sauce which is savory and tangy or their signature sauce which is a bit thicker and sweet neither of the two sauce were perfect for their tempura.Uni Tempura P268 - Uni Tempura is one of the most amazing execution of a sea urchin and this is one of my favorites here in Asakusa. A wholesome bite was a burst of strong fresh umami flavor from the uni and the crunchy nori wrap.Cold Soba & Hot soba P118 each - The buckwheat noodles was cooked perfectly whether served cold with a soy based sauce or served hot in a seafood sauce. I like them both but I would prefer having the hot soba to my next visit it is a greta combination with their tempura.Chicken Karaage Teriyaki 4pcs. P158, 8pcs. P288 - The Crispy Karaage Chicken glazed with special Asakusa teriyaki sauce that was sweet, tangy and savory that was a perfect match to their fried rice.Salmon Salad P218 & Tuna Salad P208 - Salmon and Tuna salad with radish, lettuce, cucumber, cabbage with a crunchy texture from the batter flakes. I wouldn't mind having neither of this two salad 'cause they were both addicting! Honestly, I could remember I almost finished a bowl of it just by myslef haha. I still could remember the sesame oil taste in it. Yummy!!!Valrhona chocolate brownies with Green tea ice cream P158 & Coffee Jelly P118 - For the dessert, we had a green tea ice cream which has a chewy chocolate brownies cubes which is really a perfect match for the creamy green tea ice cream. We also had their Coffee jelly topped with vanilla ice cream quite witty to add a little crispy texture from the drizzled tempura batter flakes.Overall, Asakusa wasn't just a home for tempura but also, a home for hearty traditional Japanese dishes that you could enjoy even without spending a trip to Japan. The owners welcomed us warmly they were so accommodating and the service was great, the ambiance was very cozy and intimate whether you bring your partner or your family this place would be great for your Japanese cravings. 😉😃💛

Promptly named after the famous tempura district in Tokyo, Asakusa is also known their authentic Japanese tempura. They learned the art of tempura from a master in Japan, which they now carefully prepare and serve their patrons.Ambience – 4.5/5Service – 3/5Location – 4/5Food – 4/5Food Recommendation:Shogun Set (PhP 368.00 - 3 pcs) (PhP 578.00 - 5 pcs)[Black Tiger Prawns]An almost perfect tempura. However, I’ve found that the batter somewhat lacks taste.Uni Tempura (PhP 268.00)Creamy, buttery and flavorful sea goodness that melts in your mouth. By far my favorite sea urchin dish that I ever tried.Valrhona Chocolate Brownies with Green Tea Ice Cream (PhP 158.00)Ice cream and brownies are two of my favorite desserts, especially when they’re mixed together. The bitterness of the green tea compliments the sweetness of the brownies.Other food that we tried:Tuna Salad (PhP 208.00)Salmon Salad (PhP 218.00)California Maki (PhP 238.00)Chicken Karaage Teriyaki (PhP 288.00)Coffee Jelly (PhP 118.00)

Food: (4)Shogun set - out of my many visits sometimes the size of the shrimp varies. However, I really do enjoy that they have 2 sauces: special Asakusa sauce and the regular tempura sauce! I really like it when restaurants provide options! And this is mostly why I come back here.Gyoza - their gyoza isnt anything great but you have the option to get it steamed or fried. What I do is get half of it fried and half of it steamed. Like I said I like my options! Spicy Tuna Salad - I loveeee their spicy tuna salad. Whenever I order spicy tuna in other restos i always ask for extra tempura flakes. However here, I dont feel the need for the extra flakes cause the cabbage they serve along with it already provides that crunch I always look for! Service: (5j)Staff is really friendly and accommodating! Ambiance: (4)The restaurant is really simple. Its clean as well which I really appreciate. However when it gets busy (which isnt too often) it can get kind of cramped.Value for Money: (4)I find Asakusa slightly expensive but it doesnt hinder me from coming back. I think they offer flavors that I cant really find anywhere else which makes it all worth it!

Had an early dinner with the partner.  The place is clean and outside seating is available.  The place quickly filled up with family diners with their children.  The place seems to be the only one with kid friendly menu items in the area.  We ordered the 3 pc Shogun Set with hot Udon and the Chicken Karaage Teriyaki.   The Tempura was not oily, as it was served on top of a strainer; like the other popular Tonkatsu restaurant.  The taste was the same as any prawn tempura.  The Karaage was over fried and tough to the bite.  The Udon was chewy and very good.  Service was fast and friendly.  Price is higher compared to other restaurants serving the same items.

I loved what I ordered! I just had tuna salad and samurai set tempura, Delish! The tuna salad was soo good, the tuna was fresh perfect with the spicy dressing and a bed of vegies. The next best thing to "kinilaw" from my hometown in Mindanao 😋. Now I know what to eat when I miss "kinilaw" from home😍.The tempura set (prawn, fish, squid and vegies) was equally good and savory, the batter was crispy and the serving was big! I was so full, I couldnt finish the rice and a piece of the eggplant tempura...Next time, ill try the sushi rolls and uni tempura! Thanks for this sumptuous and filling experience Asakusa! 💖💖Update: I went back today for lunch and I had their Tuna Maki (OMG, Yummmm!) and Uni Tempura (Not a Fan of this though)... Ill keep on going back for more of their offerings! 😍
