Since we live near this place, coming back here happens more often than not. This isn't my first visit but rather my first review of this on website. The family including me were always satisfied with whatever we order from here. So we're not surprised that it is crowded with groups and families everytime. We had Garlic Spinach, Cold cuts appetizer, Lapu Lapu, & Yang Chow. I must say all of these is good and a must try on your visit.

Had to look for a chinese restaurant to celebrate mid-autumn festival with family tonight and my grandmommy immediately told us that she wants to dine at her all-time favorite -- hong kong chef. I didnt really know what to expect because the last time I dined in this place, it had a different name.I called to reserve a table as I was worried that the place'd be jampacked for tonight but the reservations arent needed there, they operate on a first come first serve basis. The chinese woman I got to talk to on the phone wasnt really accommodating, didnt even say 'bye' (lol, just a straight answer). When we arrived there werent really that much people so we were easily seated. As we sat the chinese woman straightforwardedly asked us for our orders. Right away. Im assuming this is because my grandmommy is a regular here but then I was really confused with what to order. The task of ordering was my grandmom's task so she ordered fish lips soup, hk pechay, fookien cha misua, sweet and sour pork, char siu, hakaw, sharksfin siomai, scallops fried rice, and some fish dish (i forgot the name). Everything arrived so fast it's like everything was precooked. The fish lip soup was really really good and there were a lot of ingredients in it. For 270 it's very very sulit! The charsiu was okay but I like my charsiu sweet, so it's so-so. The scallops rice is amazingly good!!! Sweet n sour pork was also yummy! The fried misua is so good!!! Nothing like the other misuas. The lowdown here is that their dimsums arent something you would eat. They serve them later than the dishes you usually order. The sharks fin siomai wasnt cooked well and it still had powder in it. The hakaw's shrimp tasted like they were in storage for a long time already. For the total price I really think the pricing is very okay. Meals here are sulit. Service is okay. Dimsum is NONONONONO. But then now I understand why my grandmom loves this restaurant so much! Food is good! Except the dimsum (yup)Expect to get really really thirsty after eating though. Probably because of the msg

The place looks simple and comfortable. There's a sense of truthfulness. the ingredients were fresh and servers were very accommodating. I like the simplicity of the flavors to each dish, not overpowering but you can taste the authenticity of the asian cuisine.

I opted to have my birthday dinner at Hong Kong Chef once because the place really appealed to my parental units and the hubby was craving cuttlefish for some reason. We ordered the following: - Yang Chow Fried Rice - a must for my baby girl- Soy Chicken- Beef with Brocolli - another family fave- Two-way Fish - served fresh, as in they fished it out of one of their tanks prior to serving it in two dishes - as steamed fish and as fish broth- Fried Cuttlefish - hubby's request- Spicy Schezhuan Prawns.I normally find Chinese restos great for family gathering and this is no exception. However, I found the Two-Way Fish way overpriced and I may have had way too much MSG as the back of my head was aching on the way home.

I had a reservation for 30 people and had lunch here with my family last weekend. We ordered set menu. The food was prepared well and the service of the staff was good (except for one waiter who was probably having a bad day). Food was good except for the mango sago dessert which was part of the set menu. It was just so bland. Overall, it was okay, there are a lot of similar restos who offer the same food.
