Not ordinary attractiveness is what I've seen in a magazine, and it's called the dragon roll of ginzadon, maxims hotel. After which, I found myself searching it here, and decided to pay a visit. Tho, I wasn't exactly sure when, all I knew is that I wanted to taste their dragon roll immediately. Then valentines day came, and ninyo fusion was fully booked. So our second choice is ginzadon. We made reservation and we're very thankful that we did, cause when we came, all seats are occupied. We waited like 5 mins to clean our table but we're lucky enough cause some walk in customers couldn't dine because ginzadon is full. (Not surprising cause, valentines!) The front desk lady is nice, but she talks very unprofessional and funny. I really dont know what to expect, because it's at maxims. But ginzadon wasn't very cozy as I picture it in my head before. Maybe I over expect. Also, I didn't like the waitresses uniform, in my personal opinion. Okay enough for the place, let's go for the food. It was not spectacular. Not everything is mighty tasty except for their canadian maki with salmon, very unique for me. About the dragon roll, it looks tough and powerful you would feel sorry for re-arranging and eating it, what an excellent presentation. But, it's a bit fishy. People who doesn't want 'malansa' shouldn't order this one. They serve fast, lastly. I won't reccomend the resto for romantic dates, because it's more of a friendly place.

I love Japanese cause of my fondness for anything raw and salmon so I invited my family out to dinner last weekend. I ordered a lot of sushi and makis that one of the servers mixed up some of the orders and since it was prepared already the chef gave the tuna sushi to us for free lol! Who doesn't love free food? I loved everything, from raw, steamed, fried, grilled food - they make sure they create it to perfection. If not for the ambience I'd give it a 5.

Great food, great service and a very clean restaurant.I took my wife out for dinner here and we were not disappointed. The selection of sushi/sashimi they have is quite big and their Japchae is amazing. I was also impressed that they served Corona, not many places in the Philippines do and to find it in a Japanese/Korean restaurant made the place almost perfect! Our waiter was very accommodating and always came to check on us to see how our meal was.Rated it a 4.0 due to the first impression. I am a tall Mexican/American with a lot of tattoos and when I walked up I think I intimidated the hostess, she did not say anything to me until I started talking to her. It was a bit unprofessional but then I brushed it off and decided to dine there anyways. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is being stared at head to toe before being greeted by a restaurants host/hostess. Although the food is a bit pricey, I really enjoyed everything and I would definitely go back again.

Good service and good food. One of my fave Asian restaurants. They serve a mix of Japanese and Korean favorites. I often order the juicy and plump mandoo (dumplings). Ask for the old sauce cause I like it salty, sweet and a little bit spicy. My other favorites are the chicken yakitori, kimchi stew and giant prawns.

Last Tuesday had been quite remarkable.  Not only that I got to bond with my friend and her grade school friend who visited (she's based in Los Angeles), I also found out about an association called KBF or Kaisahang Buhay Foundation.  What was distinctive was learning about the pregnant women who are being cared by this organization.  One of KBF's advocacy is providing a temporary shelter to abused pregnant women and another is foster care service to unwanted babies.  The three of us paid a visit to this particular house and gave hope to these girls and women.  I'll definitely be writing about that experience and we will come back there armed with spanking ways to help them more.

AmbienceThe ambience is good enough considering that it's an a very busy place. The entrance is right beside the entrance of the casino on the second floor of Maxim's Hotel.Inside is pretty tight. I believe they tried to squeeze in as much tables. I believe this to be so because it can get a steady stream of guests given the casino and Newport Mall being beside it.We ate here on a Saturday night and since I knew we would be there ahead of time, I made reservation for a table of 8. When we arrived at 6:30pm (time of our reservation) the place was already filling up. There were two tables set up for 8 available. I wonder why they gave us the smaller table, a table for 6 where they added two chairs on each end. The other table was really set up for 8. Pretty tight set up. By the time we ended our dinner, the other table was never even used. I conceded though that I didn't say anything to get the other table when we were being seated. They may have given it if I did but thought it was reserved for someone else. Didn't see it used the whole time we were there. We left at around 8. Maybe it's kept open for high rollers who may show up at any time. Who knows. They use pretty big plates to serve the food so a bigger table was surely needed. Also the fact that they claim food is meant to be served family style. ServiceThe service staff was pretty good. Maybe that why I'm not giving this restaurant a lower rating. They were attentive to our needs. It didn't take long for us to ask for anything we need.My only comment to the negative is what I elaborated on above. Even after we placed our order, they didn't offer to move us to longer table. Add to that, they're trying to squeeze in all those plates in the table they gave us.Again, maybe these things are only given to high rollers.FoodI could describe it in one word... PRICEY!!! Way too expensive for the quality and taste. Take note this restaurant is in a hotel and a casino hotel to boot. So price is high, extremely high.Is it worth it though? Some pricey restaurants in hotels may be worth the price. Those are few and far between. This is definitely IMHO not one of those. Not by the farthest reaches of the imagination. The taste was ok. Nothing great. Nothing that would leave a lasting memory. Not even a faint one. What's left is just the memory of the price. The menu/selection appears to be confused. Are they a Japanese restaurant (I would assume so with the name) or a Korean restaurant? They say they are both. And the menu sure shows that. Selections of both Japanese and Korean dishes. Please take not that my opinions are based on the Japanese food we ordered except the Korean pancake that got added to the mix.OverallThis place is too PRICEY! That's all I can say. You will have other choices in Newport Mall.

Food is nice. Prices are insane. You're paying for it's presentation more than it's taste. The taste is only slightly better than other fine dining restaurants but not so much for the price. The portion of the food is also very small. My parents and I visited a few times since we stay at the Maxim's quite often and I do enjoy their eel products and sushi. The waiters keep their eyes on refilling tea and water though the waitresses are more focused on my parents who love to give big tips. The waitresses tend to choose favorites and not spread their attention towards all their customers which is a huge turnoff.Other than that, the ambiance is nice.Overall, the restaurant's main score comes from the food.Everything else needs work.

I was disappointed that the sundubu jiggae tasted of less than fresh seafood and that it was served in an ordinary bowl not in an earthenware pot. The egg was also curdled and not served whole on top of the soup. I wish it had pork though this is optional and that it had more vegetables. The broth was not that flavorful. Disapponted.

06 June 2018Wednesday, 5:00PMHad my mini adventure today as I had a few hours to kill since I came from office in Makati. I decided to go to Newport Mall while waiting for my brother’s flight back to Manila. True to form, after devouring my japanese/korean dinner, I am writing this review at a coffee shop close to this restaurant. I live up north in Quezon City so I rarely get to visit places in this area!Ordered:Madai Ozukiri P690Shake Poke Salad P820Ebi Tempura (5 pcs) P860There is a saying that quality comes with a price, so for a whopping total of nearly P2,500 I got to say this has to be one fine dinner. As for quantity of food served, they aren’t exactly a lot, since a matakaw person like me ended up finishing them all in one sitting. Expensive, but could not complain as service is top notch. I got to chat a little bit with Julius who was busy training one of their new hires. Despite a busy afternoon, he was accommodating and friendly. On top of the excellent service, you get appetizers on the house which consist of a few korean/japanese treats. Ingredients of the dishes served are fresh and some are imported as I noticed wasabi served had the strong and spicy kick unlike what typical restaurants offer. As for interiors, place is simple, yet elegant. At full capacity, restaurant can accommodate about 120. I would be happy to go back and book a private room as they have about 3 rooms for big groups of about 10-15. He/She toilets are tidy too! I give plus points whenever toilet is well-maintained and smelling fresh at all times.Overall it was a pleasant visit. Price can be pretty steep, so having thoughts of going back.
