I first tried Maru back in college, when there was one in Rob Manila, and we liked it back then. I remember the kimchi jjigae best, since it was what started my search for other places with good kimchi jjigae in Manila. It's my first time back in the chain since then, and the first that struck me was the prices. 1,400php for galbi jjim??? Excuse me mdm. Anyway, we ordered galbisal, jeyuk bokkum (stir-fried pork), and saewoo twigim (deep-fried battered shrimp). Let me just say, thank goodness jeyuk bokkum is universally hard to get wrong, so this one is good. I liked it! Although the serving size is somewhat on the small side, what serving there is packs a flavorful punch. Galbi and twigim were ok, not that great. Galbi had some chewy bits, and beef was not that tender. The sesame oil and doenjang that go with the beef were a good accompaniment to the (otherwise) bland dish. The side dishes were great though! The cubes of tofu, seasoned eomuk (fish cake), and jeon are favorites. There were also flies around the table. The candle didn't do much. Air con wasn't that cool either, or just didn't reach our area. All in all, good, but not that great. Come for the jeyuk bokkum and the side dishes!

I love this place. Prices are so worth it. Big servings, freshly made food, staff are very accommodating — they know what their food is made of and help you choose considering they are non Koreans

3.8Staff/Place: Restaurant was spacious with a lot of customers. Staff were a bit inattentive.Food: All were per order except the basic side dish and I was a bit disappointed(?) that one(1) steamed egg is complementary per table only. However, I’ll give a 4/5 for the food itself. We ordered beef ribs, pork ribs, pork bacon, beef bulgogi(?), chicken galbi with veggies, and pork galbi with bean sprouts. All were very tasty with generous servings.

Delicious onion leek pancakes, good jajangmyeon, friendly staff, so-so banchans, super spicy stir fried pork. Everything was good. Will come back for the pancakes.

If you just visited this place after a while, it is no longer Maru. The former establishment and the current one, Da Rae Jung serves authentic Korean barbecue and other familiar dishes. On this sponsored invite, our team had the privilege to indulge in Da Rae Jung’s top-selling items. First to arrive was The Set A, it had four kinds of premium, tender beef at 150 grams each. These are boneless short ribs, boneless ribs, beef ribs and the best one, rib eye steak. If you fancy having pork instead, a winning platter would be the Braised Pigs’ Feet. It’s like our local Crispy Pata, only leaner and more seasoned. That comes with a fitting side of spicy preserved vegetables. Go ahead and complement the meats with any of their nine different side dishes! Note though that they serve two kinds of Kimchi, the much spicier one that's usually given to Koreans, and a milder with a sweet touch for us Filipinos. I also recommend having the Spicy Beancurd Soup for just Php 350! This bowl gives you moisture and additional heat in all your bites. Da Rae Jung spacious restaurant is located at HK Sun Plaza. They have functions rooms as well for small and big groups. Come by soon!

The restaurant is so spacious that could probably serve more than 100 guests. They also have private rooms, one of which could accommodate 8 persons and the other 2 rooms that could fit almost 30 persons each and can be converted to one bigger function room for big occassions.THE FOOD:SIDE DISHES : 4/5A lot of side dishes were served, probably 10 kinds of different korean flavors. The clams and potatoes are my favorite. This meat should be eaten with a piece of lettuce, their version of bagoong and radish which made the dish more exciting. A very convenient restaurant that you can visit any hour of the day. The staffs are very friendly and attentive. Same price range with typical Korean buffet restos, you can so many side dishes. No sacrifice for the quality of their meat as well. Their sauces are top notch. Definitely going to visit again. I wasn’t able to take pictures because I was busy eating.

This Authentic Korean Resto has authentic Kim Chi that is the spiciest one I have tasted. They also have a simmered down version or the no spice version for Filipinos that they serve as well. We ordered set A Prime Beef set which includes four kinds of premium beef - tender beef at 150 grams each. These are boneless short ribs, boneless ribs, beef ribs and rib eye steak.I loved the rib eye steak the best. The others are good as well! The Spicy Bean-curd Soup is not as spicy as the KIM CHI. It tastes just right for me and is one of the best I have tasted for this restaurant and it costs only 350 pesos. Yummy and Spicy Soup!! For the 9 side dishes, I loved the sweetened potatoes the best and the vinaigrette green veggie appetizer. I would have loved to have WIFI in this restaurant and probably a videoke option as well to have a more happy hangout atmosphere as well but the food itself and for being the only 24 hour Korean Restaurant in the Metro is worth the visit. They also have bento/Value meals that are affordable! Less than 600 pesos per "Bento" meal.I would recommend this to Korean food afficionados and to Koreans as well. Many Koreans do frequent the restaurant too!
