A spicy pork ramen is already more than enough for me. So I must have done something really awesome to taste 4 more kinds! =) . Shitamachi is the third of the 6th restaurant we reviewed for website’s food crawl event. Check these out folks: . The Spicy Tantan ramen is my favorite. This is also one the number 1 choice for most of their regular customers. At least that’s what I was told by one of their staff members. And I can understand that, because spicy food is really the way to satisfy me.

We wanted to try a restaurant that's in SM BF since we were going to watch a movie in here as well and looking through website we found this restaurant. There were only a few people a while ago during lunch time so we decided to eat here. The place is cozy and simple and minimalistic but the design deserves a thumbs up. The servers were also attentive and nice. We ordered set D and set F plus the gyoza and they were delicious. I like the tempura corn flakes side dish and I was really full after eating. The gyoza was delicious but kind of lacks taste and sauce.

I always pass by this resto whenever I go to sm bf. I'm a bit skeptical with their menu and I dont really see a lot of people dining here but I dont want to be judgemental so i gave it a try. unfortunately, I was not mistaken. the tantanmen just tasted salty lacking flavor. the chashu pork on it tasted nothing but boiled pork and the yolk of the tamago was undercooked so it was watery. The only compliment would be the noodles where it was cooked well. it was a set meal so it was accompanied by chicken karaage with some maybe some tartar sauce and it was no good as well for I think they forgot to let the chicken drip a bit before serving so the excess oil mixed up with the sauce and and everything. I usually ask for some service tea whenever I dine in a Japanese resto and the TEA tasted like water. The concept's really good however I think they need to do something about quality and consistency.

(On photo: Mom complaining about their awful service before we exited the place) If i can rate this place with no stars, i would. This is the second time this place failed us miserably. There is no room for error when it comes to the food, hotel and restaurant industry. We came in at around 8:15pm with the restaurant 75% seating capacity filled. No one was at the door to welcome guests so after scouting the area for a good 1 minute we grabbed the table near the bar and counter. Again, no one was noticing our presence so we called the attention of one of the restaurant staff. We placed our order (all menu items with lettuce was not available). The place was slowing filling up and we noticed that those that came after us already had drinks and soon after had food served. We called the attention of the lady behind the counter (which we learned was the manager) and asked for the hot tea be served. We were waiting already for a good 40 minutes, when we decided to cancel our orders and leave. What irked us was the attitude of the staff and manager altogether. Apparently, the staff did not punch in our orders from the beginning. Apologetic, but there was no sincerity, what they did was beyond salvaging what should have been a nice Sunday dinner. Their excuse, the place was packed. That is not an excuse, there are more established restaurants that can deliver excellent service under pressure. They have failed on service. Just like they did during opening. But that deserves another review.

Me and my bf wanted to have ramen, and it so happens that i've wanted to try this place. It was almost empty at the time that we came, but the ambience is really nice. Service is good and the staff is really friendly and courteous, even if it took us a long time before we could order. Both of us had meal sets, but sadly, the ramen is just so-so. The karage, gyoza and dessert was good though.

I AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS REVIEW. Here is my review of this restaurant. We came around 8:00-8:30 Sunday. Two - three tables were occupied only.My daughter ordered ramen only and my wife ordered the set meal. When I arrived, I asked the lady the differences of the the ramen in the menu. I was suprised when she answered in a sarcastic manner. "octupus ink, ink! So, I just ordered the same with my wife. When the food came and we started eating, my daughter told me that she does not like the ramen because "matabang daw" so I tasted mine and same taste matabang talaga compared to other ramen house. I asked the food server that we will just take it home and asked her bakit ganoon na matabang ang lasa and she replied ganun daw talaga yun. Mag dag dag lang daw siya ng toyo. I was not satisfied with her answer so I asked for the manager but unfortunately the manager also does not know how to answer my concerns. Ganoon daw talaga ang lasa. So, I guess baka inconsistent lang sila sa pag timpla. So we just asked for the bill and the dessert included. The food server came with the dessert and just put it both in front of me and left... We are so disappointed not only with the food which is not cheap by the way but also the service they provided not to mention they charged 10% service fee. So disappointing!

Excellent gyudon. Reasonably priced and good quality sushi. Surprising for a simple newbie restaurant. Service is ok. Can't complain. Serving sizes are just right.

I tried the Tonkotsu Tsukemen and Mom had the Beef Yakiniku. The ramen was a bit spicy and salty which I liked but the serving size was smaller than what I remembered. Wasn't able to try the dish my mom had so can't say anything about that.

Not really impressed by the food and the portion servings. But it is half way decent and is priced fairly although I think that it could be cheaper because of the smaller portions you receive. I could easily get more value for my money in other Japanese restaurants and easily be satisfied or even more.

I love ramen. It is one of my comfort foods and probably have tried all the ramen shops in the vicinity of my house (Paranaque) and work place (Makati). And yes, I admit, there were times we went the distance and hurdled Metro Manila traffic to try out a newly opened ramen shop - that is how much I love eating ramen.I've tried most of Shitamachi's ramen - Volvano ramen, miso, tantanmen etc. How does Shitamachi stack up? Saddly, it would never appear in my Top 5. More sadly is that with the limited dining options in SM BF, I probably would still go back here. The ramen is not bad - it is just that I've tasted better. And on rainy days where it is just more convenient for me to go to SM BF (parking-wise) rather than ATC, this would suffice.
