The Resto was over rated. Nice landscape but not translated inside. The food not that great compare to other Jap resto within the area. The price not bad.

Japanese restaurant inside BF Homes. The food here is great and service is fast. They have a wide range of food to choose from the menu. A must try.

Terrible Japanese food. We ordered the usual Japanese fare and do not recall liking any of the dishes. They're not cheap (neither are they expensive) but one comes to expect a certain level of quality when having Japanese food. I would rate this one alongside with the food court vendors.

Bono Tei Japanese Resto is a must-try resto for Japanese lovers out there. I may not have tried everything on their menu but what I tried last night were full of flavor and oh their sashimis are fresh kung fresh. :) Their interior and their garden adds up to that Japanese feel as well. :) It's a good ol' 4/5 for me. :)

Amidst the myriad of Japanese joints in the south, Bono Tei used to dominate the Japanese food scene on the far side of BF. But then, new management and renovations happened, and a new and more vibrant atmosphere emerged. It now also shares its spot with a Texas-style barbecue ranch restaurant, but we didn't order from there. Highs: 1. Gyudon: very generous serving of beef. The meat was tender and fatty, just the way I liked it. The sauce was light and on the sweeter side, but not overwhelming. Huge portion of rice which I wasn't able to finish. 2. Chicken teriyaki: cooked in a simple manner, no frills. But the smokey taste was evident, with a touch of sweetness in the sauce. The meat was tender but strangely became cold quickly and tough in some parts. Quite enjoyable still if devoured immediately. 3. Prices are reasonable and commensurate with food quality. Unlike Hanakazu, which is more expensive but has its own misses, Bono Tei will not make you feel robbed in case you won't fancy one item or another. Parking is also easy with a separate lot available during busier hours. Lows:1. Tempura: the reason for my low rating. The prawns were clearly average sized but you will be fooled by the thick and heavy batter. Too heavy that one will feel full rather quickly. 2. Desserts: Jap joints are not really known for desserts, so understandably they are mediocre. I had a feeling the lava cake was from S&R, though I had no issue with that since I love their cakes. They would have done better with the vanilla ice cream though. I get a feeling that Bono Tei is underachieving. With its prime location and spacious spot, it deserves a greater following, if not for some inconsistencies in food quality and taste. The meat dishes are at par with higher end Jap joints, and I predict their sister shop next door delivers with its barbecue ranch menu. Still, that alone should attract more activity and revive Bono Tei to its former glory.

Ambiance and service were great! Japanese food is decent and was actually a surprise to us! Love this and Da's! Their ribs is tasty and it melts in your mouth! 😊

It was my first time to go back to this resto after there renovation. Not much different in the look and feel from the old design. Food was not good. And the price was expensive given the fact that there food was not good. I spent almost 2k on a meal that I was expecting to pay around 1.2k given the food quality. Chances are, I'll will not drop by this resto again.

Very slow service. It took 15mins before someone handed us menu and took our orders. Our Ramen was served first and the noodles were very soggy. The rest of our orders (ebi tempura, gohan, miso soup, and maki) all came around 30mins after the Ramen. There were not so many customers but it seems the waitresses were so confused and out of synch.

Probably the worst Japanese resto I have tried. Sad to say, I would prefer Tokyo Tokyo in a hearbeat. We ordered for Sukiyaki, Chicken Karage, and Tempura together with Ribs at Da's (restaurant beside them which they own as well)First, food does not taste what I was expecting it to be - I would have let this pass but our Sukiyaki came in after a total of 7 follow ups 1 hour. Service was really bad. I am not sure whether they are understaff or what but you can't seem to find a waitress to attend to you.We actually had a bad start there because when we came in the guy who actually attending to us and taking our orders keeps on welcoming guests while assisting them to their seats while we give our orders or ask him what is the best seller.Verdict is I am never going back to this place ever again. 1.5 rating for the effort of the servers at least.
