The second stop of our Commerce Centre Food Crawl with website is Coco Hut. They serve island inspired Filipino favorites. Even the restaurant itself evokes a rustic, beachside aesthetic through the nipa, and coco lumber that they used to decorate the space. Recently more branches popping up around their city and as part of their quest for domination is introducing more familiar dishes to their lineup. The newest addition to their roster is the Lechon Kawali Kare Kare and one order that's good for two people goes for P385. Just by the name, you could already tell that this is going to be one delicious meal and props to whoever thought about combining these two favorites of mine together! There’s no menu fraud here as the dish itself looks just as good as it does on the pictures. The way this plate came together was really appetizing, the big pieces of lechon kawali and some greens were drenched in a sunshine yellow peanut sauce and the sprinkle of annatto oil on top made the bowl glisten beautifully. Flavorwise i loved the combination of the crispy and salty Liempo and the creamy sauce. The liempo was already good on its own, with a nice amount of fat and a juicy interior every bite was a delight. I also liked the crisp veggies which tasted fresh and made the dish a little less sinful. I was quite underwhelmed with the Kare-Kare sauce, while it was creamy and had just the right amount of seasoning that it's good even without bagoong it did have an artificial or store bought taste. I guess it lacked the earthiness of real crushed peanuts or a chunky peanut butter. We also had their Saba Con Hielo which is another popular Filipino “Merienda” or Afternoon Snack. While the Flan and the cream on top was delicious, there was an outrageous amount of flavorless ice in the middle which took over more of less 80% of the cup and made it a little bland. Criticisms aside i still thought that the Lechon Kawali Kare-Kare was delicious and filling especially with the generous serving which could make me easily go through several extra orders of rice. I also like CocoHut’s concept which takes a fast food style approach to Filipino Food making it more accessible to us Filipinos and even allows foreigners to easily familiarize themselves with our cuisine.

My first time and first branch of Coco Hut,a Filipino restaurant serving Pinoy comfort food.Ate lunch here with some food reviewers, we're served with Lechon Kawali Kare Kare, very nice crunchy pork belly cuts drenched into a nice peanut and powdered glutinous rice gravy .As for dessert we were generously offered Saba con Hielo,a cold treat topped with langka ice cream ,with lavish chunks of bananas.Another I like in this restaurant is that they have set meals that are every affordable A great alternative if you like to have Pinoy dishes when you're in the Commerce Center in Alabang.Eboy M. They have reopened!!! We were saddened that they closed for some time and it was a pleasant surprise to see that they have reopened. Staff says they had to close for a while to fix the water leakage in their kitchen.I love Coco Hut for their veggie side dishes. Their fried chicken is a fave, same fried chicken that I love in Army Navy. I think they have the same owner since even their Iced Tea (which I also love) tastes the same.So happy they are back!

My friends and I always crave for Hut Chicken and it’s number one on our list for those late-night cravings. They closed for a while but now that that they’re back it felt as if a lot of things changed. Our haunch is that they probably changed management cause their staff changed too. They weren’t very knowledgable about their menu. Their service isn’t as good as before. Not one of their staff members were smiling. Their waiting time is now longer than before. The cleanliness of the store went down (a lot of uncleared tables were left - seems that everyone wants to just stay behind the counter). Kind of sad but at least their chicken’s still good!
